My wife bought me a DeWalt sliding mitre saw this past xmas. She thought she only got me a sweater but little did she know I got the saw from her as well. She's super sweet.
I got that same promotion a while back. The one where you buy a sweater and it comes with a power tool. I loved it.
Watching this time saver reminds me of when I had to hand sand all four walls of our son's room to remove raised latex sponge prints. It took me all day to do each wall. The night of the 3rd wall I was crying telling my husband how much my body hurt from all the work - he very sweetly said, "You know I have a power sander don't you?" We are still married and that last wall only took me 45 minutes!!
"she doesn't know it yet, she's really nice" lol
I love how he softened his voice. Buttering her up. What a sweetheart.
Looks awesome bro! I’m in my late 40’s and I’ll tell you another thing besides time that power tools save.. your wrists and hands! Arthritis is a bitch!! Stay strong bro! Be easy on your joints!
Brother I went the last 16 years in the painting world from coast to coast. I randomly found this through a buddie of mine this year, & dude it has literally changed my life. Especially doing new builds and custom homes, cabinets, the amount of time a person doing this realm of painting would save with this tool is unimaginable. Thumbs up for promoting this product. The contour, flexibility , & accuracy this tool has is completely undervalued. Cheers
I just built a fireplace mantel and did the trim work in the living room myself after learning from you. Yes of course its not perfect, it was my first try. So happy to have it done and to know I did it.
Brother man, the level of craftsmanship and quality in your work is awesome. Watching you made me want to up my game and just make everything tighter.
Also, watching you helped me make that happen.
Just wanted to holler at you and tell you keep up the good work
Happy Anniversary to you and your wife Richard. She is awful nice to you to get just the right tools you need to make your work get done faster so you can be home with her sooner. 😎👍
I love my surfprep sander. It really did impress me when I bought it. I just so happened to get that gun this week too. So smooth.
So glad you shared about your new sander. After a whole year of renovations this tool would have saved my fingers from sponge sanding everything with shapes. Especially on my turned spindle chairs...I'm running to the store to find this. Thank you!
The same sander changed my life too. As a cabinet refinisher and residential painter this little thing has been invaluable to my business....it's such a work horse. I still prefer to sand the intricate details on woodwork by hand but for flat surfaces this sander is ideal. I've found it too easy to sand through primer where there are edges and detailed inlay areas with the contouring foam pads. As long as your primer coats are looking pristine all you need is quick swipe with a super fine grit for top coats, so I do love hand sanding that with the contouring foam pads. When buying tools I'm picky and spend lots of time researching, this thing is damn expensive, but it's paid for itself over and over again! Highly recommend it...can't wait to hook it up to my new Festool CT MIDI
The surfprep was the best tool I've purchased for a long time as a refinishing professional. I also am a huge fan of the Graco PC Compact gun. Nice video, great setup.
Love to see more results on this sander now that you have used it a while. Like to see the kit you purchased thanks. Would love to see a video in action on some cove molding. Or some large crown seams. Thanks again for the wonderful post
I just bought the Surf Prep System and vac attachments after watching your video! Hate sanding and if it saves time and heartache, well worth the price! Thank you for discount code and all the useful videos!
I enjoy your videos. You seem to have a great personality, your content is informative, its entertaining and the videos are well made.
My wife lets me sleep on the couch after I buy tools.
My wife buys me a bunch of tools that she doesn't know about
I know a good divorce attorney 😲
Lmfao. Yours too???
Car shock absorbers can be put inside the walls of a timber house, to absorb earthquake energy.
Hell yeah these are the ones you find in the pawn shop later on! Lol
@@Viscous_Dampers_For_Houses you have scientific information to back this up?
The surfprep is fantastic. The different abrasives are really helpful in a variety of situations. Just added the 5” to the quiver. Like your videos.
“...she doesn’t know it yet.” 🤣🤣
I asked my wife to bring me a screwdriver and she asked "a flathead, Philips, or cocktail?". That's how I knew she was the one! LMAO
love your videos. Would love to see how some of the boards and wall paneling are crafted and installed in contemporary home designs!
Just catching up on your last four videos. Thanks for posting another one! Came just in time! Love your work!
I’m laughing because my husband just bought me about 5 minutes ago, the SurfPrep system, hose and travel case …for my Christmas pressie, next birthday and maybe Mother’s Day. He’s going to be so happy he doesn’t have to shop and fester over what to get me! (Lol, “We’ll see”) I’m so excited and really appreciate your video and run through, this is a great review! !
How do you like it a year later?
@@Benmeglei1 love it!! It’s the probably the best investment I’ve made besides the regular toolkit stuff. I look at all my furniture that looks tired and instead of replacing it one day I know I’ll just reinvent it. Last summer I tackled my kitchen cabinets and with great patience and a lot of time, they turned out very professional looking. Between the SurfPrep and a decent Wagner sprayer kit, you can do anything….and save thousands. It actually makes a project exiting instead of dreading it.
Contractor PC spray gun from Graco is amazing. Compared to my previous spray guns it's like new world. It has excellent ergonomics, great serviceability and fantastic performance. Worth every penny.
The Surfprep system is amazing. I ordered the 3x4 sander last year and it was so nice to operate, and saved me so much time on the first job that I later ordered the 5" orbital for more rough sanding work. These things are no joke and worth every penny. 3x the price because it's 3x the tool! Also the dust collection works very well.
My wife bought me a portable band for christmas....the look on her face when I opened it was amazing!
Awesome channel, I've been in construction for 30 years...granted I'm an electrician, but I've learned some awesome tips from your channel. Thanks
Of course ... auto correct...Porta-a-band
Hey Richard,
Just ordered my sander and adaptor for my Ridgid wet/dry vac...Thanks for the review and the discount brother...I've been watching reviews and videos on this and bam, pushed the button and got it...
Thanks a bunch for taking time to share about this useful tool.
i love your videos ,there is something i noticed that i had to deal with a couple of times and its not related to the sander , but the outlet where you did the notch there , what ive done is moved the outlet just to make it look all even ,hope you dont get upset with me puting my 2 cents , great videos man
For Christmas I got a DeWalt sander with dust collection and it is great vs no dust collection that I've had for years.
These are my kind of reviews. I love all of the details and ways you can use this that you demonstrated. Awesome review.
Been thinking about getting the surf prep. Glad to get your feedback. Might have just sealed the deal for me.
Perfect timing just settled down to watch some tube and up you pop 🕺
Nice I’m glad too see you using your head & Not sanding by hand as much You will end up like me Severe arthritis in my hands wrists I can’t even open a can with a can opener anymore. Thanks Richard & God Bless
I got it and I love it. It changed my life as well. Thanks for the tip.
I’m so ordering this! I’m getting ready to redo a table and discovered this sander. Now I must have it!
LIKE BUTTA! I'll bet your customers are so pleased with the quality of your work. Plus you make the builders that you do work for better than they probably deserve!
Upgrading my gun was the best thing I've done to my sprayer having the professional tool allows for professional results plus it comes with the swivel for the hose and it's so much easier to take apart and clean compared to the cheap guns. Anyone that says they like sanding is crazy even with power sanders it still sucks and having high standards mean I sand more than others to achieve the best results possible.
Im happy to have seen this tool. Thank you.
Man that is slick. I'm slowly turning into a tool junkie and I'm just a homeowner. That wainscot rocks. I wish you were out on the West Coast!
Happy Anniversary Richard!
(How many years have you been married?)
That was sure nice of your wife to get that fine sander for you. Your gift to her should be equally as nice. Just a peace keeping idea.
Thank you for sharing this specialized sander with us. It looks like one more tool for the trailer. I think I’m going to need a bigger truck.
What do you think of the Ram Laramie platform?
Very cool. Wish you showed us the other end of that hose. The container that captures all that dust. I recently had to sand some door trim down in my cellar and used my old Black & Decker rotary sander. Man, it’s got a capture bag attached that I don’t even know how to detach but it doesn’t matter because that dust now coats every single item and every square inch of my cellar. I like the oscillating multi-tool for sanding better than that B&D. The capture bag has nothing in it. Anyway, nice work man.
Those are some top notch tools. Thanks for sharing.
Your type of humor is on point.
Looks a great sander, wish we had something like this in uk...
If you find the cord sometimes getting in the way, try a wire tie to tie the cord to the hose.
Love how your lovely wife buys you tools. And she does not even know it lol. The sander really seems to be a great tool.
Those green tips are a blessing those, pc kits get sold at my store for $200 and are a killer steal
I’m thinking about buying my wife one of those sanders.
Nice!! Can’t wait to reach through!!
New video, yes !! 😂😂 love your work, man !!
Hey I wear those same knee pads! They're the best unless you need a ton of protection, and they're only ten bucks.
Pro tip: wear them upside down and they will never slip down your knee.
I get them at Dunn Lumber here in Seattle but I believe you can find them at one of the big box stores. CLC
That is amazing. I am sold!
Thank You
Man I absolutely love your channel! You’re a super talented guy and I’m always watching you and a few other guys like you to help improve and simplify my trim work. Keep up the great work! I always look forward to a new video. On another note...I’d really love a DeWaukee shirt or hoodie. Or both. Can you let me know how we can go about this? Thanks brother
Just found my next tool !! Thanks for the info.
You should check out the many excellent sanding options and products Festool produces...
They even have a sander where you make the pad so it fits a profile perfectly. Would be perfect these jobs...
You can also put the pad half on the pad saver and it gets tighter into the tight profiles
Love the humility!
Great work to you and your team.
That’s a sweet sander bro 👍 Thanks!
I just got my shirt my wife bought me.. she's also really nice.. thanks again...
It’s an awesome tool. Beats both my both my Dewalt sanders. Thanks for sharing your techniques. I am looking for videos on how to build a victorian style header and plate rail to be used in my master to display antique candy dishes. Came across your videos, they are awesome. Gal from DFW area.
"She doesn't know it yet" lol. But she'll be so happy she gave it to you when she finds out!
You might be the first skilled trim carpenter I've ever met that paints as well. So ........ in all your other videos, you normally move vents and outlets during your initial layout phase, but not in this home? Another excellent video, thanks again!
What grit are you doing for the finishing? Are you spraying a latex enamel? I’ve had my eye on a new sander, this unit looks pretty sweet.
I use mirka. It is the same exact thing.. Or close .they also have drywall sander a 6 a 5 a rectangle like that...
Very cool sander. I could probably get an extra job done per week from time saved and cleanup.
What did you use for primer? I remember you used to use shellac but I’m curious because you have plastic and shellac overspray flakes off plastic and gets all in the next coat
After watching this video I think my wife is gonna buy me that sprayer for our anniversary too!
Your good people brother learned a lot from I wish you the best
I was looking into that thing to do a bunch of balisters for a client ..its like $500if not more and I can't seem to rent one anywhere looks like a handy tool
You convinced me to get one. Thank you.
Hey I like seeing more of these videos of prep work and paint. Do you have anymore, Interested in knowing what prep work to do with non primed mdf and hardboard to get it ready to paint
That sander looks like a complete game changer!!
The Surfprep sander looks like it would work great on raised panel doors or wainscoating as well. Can't wait to buy one of these tools for the next project. What size sander are you using? The 6"? Thanks!!!
That’s the best Hahahhaha my wife got this for our anniversary it she don’t know it yet 🤣🤣 haha legend
Dang that’s an expensive sander! 3x the price of the cordless Milwaukee one I just bought. But if is gonna make your life easier, more power to ya!
I know, I went to their site thinking I was going to buy one LOL. They're so expensive but I wish I could buy one
Could you touch on perfecting 45° joints, so that they’re nice and seamless? Thanks! Love the content
That Graco gun is real nice for sure. Picking up one to replace the one I have.
As far as sanders go I have 5 already. 3 Festools, a craftsman belt and a porter cable belt...
Might be looking at 6🤔
Graco hand sprayers should only be used for like, 1 maybe 2 doors at a time. There motors aren't for for huge projects people be running them on.
@@LightGesture
There was zero mentions of a handheld
Nice addition for sure!!
I would love one of those but can't justify the cost for my little projects. Still, I love learning about tools and tricks of the trade.
Awesome sander and anything that makes less work sanding is a plus in my book. I'm a recent fan of your channel and I have a bathroom wainscot project coming up. I was wondering if you can tell me what you recommend for the material in a bathroom. I want to avoid any warp or moisture issues so do I use a vinyl or is there a MDF panel material that is moisture resistant? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I would have liked seeing you spray some of the primer to see how the 208 tip worked.
totally going to buy one of these
Wow. That looks awesome.
Just got another tool on the list. That’s awesome.
Thanks, Richard!
Surely there will be more pressure applied to the higher parts of the moulding than the crevices. Especially as there is rotation of the foam pad involved.
And especially as the foam pad heats up and wears with use and requires slightly more pressure by the user to remove adequate material
Very nice trim work by the way.
Surf prep now sells the foam pads for other sanders. They have 5” and 6” discs in various hole patterns including Festool, and delta and rectangular for the Festool RTS and DTS 400 machines.
There is a separate section called "Multibrand Abrasives" in the product area. They only carry Med/Fine/Very Fine in this section. You can choose a 10 pack of a given grit/thickness combo or 6 packs with 3 5mm thick foam and 3 1/2" thick foam.
I’m not sure what the quality of the SurfPrep, it is a rebranded unit that is also sold under the Ekamant name, another quality abrasive company. But the Festool RTS 400 is a similar size pad with the same 2mm stroke for $280 with a systainer, dust bag and edge protector vs $509 for the Sandprep branded sander alone.
Great spray gun. Love mine.
4-D Television or Hologram images are sweet aspirations!! Panels are looking great. Will you link the sprayer head information or is that like an Apollo Sprayer unit?
Great idea. Enjoy!
Welcome to the surfprep world
Keep up the good work brother! lol very funny start xD
0:40 haha well those are the best gifts!
If you get the time, can you do a review for your spray equipment?
Thanks!
I went to meet with a customer and she showed me a picture of a job this guy did, and I said I know him. So hilarious. Good videos. I hope my channel can grow like his. Man I’m not kidding.
Hey mate, thanks for the video. Would you say this is a relatively light duty sander or will it do heavier work as well? I need a good sander for key-ing oil based gloss to be primed and painted in water based. Cheers from the sunny South of England. 🌧
What sprayer are you using? Greco 395 nova pc? I have the same sprayer. Very good for ultra smooth finishes. That gun alone is $350 lol. But worth it. Use oil base or alkyd trim enamel. Pro classic or emerald from sherwin is worth a try. Self leveling paint for a smoother finish also.
