It was fun seeing you out and about and not just keeping yourself cooped up in the garage! And the banter between you and your friend, just like I was at work.
This, 1000 times this. It seemed like you were going a little stir-crazy being cooped up alone in your garage. Get out and have automotive related fun. You're an engaging and charismatic young lady. While I enjoy the progress on the project cars, "Adventures with Sarah" are great, even if it's just barely an adventure.
You do what you want, we just like to see someone out there "doing", instead of complaining about not being entertained by a guy. You just get out there and get it done, and have fun while doing it. Be safe, but have fun ( what I end every phone call, or text with my daughters with ). love from old guy in Ohio
When you finish the sound deadening if you crush up the dry ice and put 90% rubbing alcohol in the bucket with it, it lasts longer and gets a bit colder and the material comes off in bigger chunks. if you let it sit till it finishes cracking it comes apart in bigger pieces too. I love your videos you are hilarious and very smart and skilled and super hot
Yes, you do say "happy summer" to people who live in the salt belt like me, because now I can work on my car... including paint.... without having to wait until SUMMER because it's too cold outside!! And yes, I do like the random all-over-the-place style of video you did this time. It works. Keep it up, girl! More FOCUS content please! Love from Michigan!
@ 3:41 You might try using some brush on "Star Brite Liquid Electrical Tape" to weather-proof the positive terminal. You can buy it at Home Depot, or most hardware stores, or even on Amazon. The stuff costs about 7 US Dollars, and comes in a 4 oz metal can that has a screw on lid with an applicator brush (similar to rubber cement containers). It is available in 5 different colors, including black and red. It can create an air and water tight seal either directly over bare wires or terminals as a replacement for heat shrink, or as a sealant for a wire/cable pass-through hole of a terminal enclosure. Thank Scotty Kilmer for making me aware of it if you find it useful.
Road mechanic Sarah is a good change from time to time....all the race cars I’ve worked on or built....cut off switch was on the ground battery to car an chassis...amp load is less on the ground side the switch will last a lot longer...ciao
Use silicone dielectric before heat shrink to prevent the green death. You could also silicone any open strands after crimping to prevent water intrusion.
Let your garage cold soak overnight (door ajar or similar), get out there early then break out the dry ice. Much smaller temperature differential then. Also, put plastic over the ice, slows down the sublimation from solid to gas and allows more thermal transfer time.
Some tips: They make firewall pass-throughs for power cables. Essentially it's a bolt with a plastic bit around it. The plastic bit screws to the firewall to provide plenty of insulation from arching, which your grommet does not have at the moment. It's like a bolt with no head so you can put lugs on both sides. It's actually required because the vibration will cut through the wire jacket even with the grommet and cause a car fire when it arcs. You can also get a cheap pair of cable cutters for thick wire. You would have been able to cut through that heavy of wire easily. Solder your wires to help prevent corrosion. Even inside of the car.
I think I'm being hypnotized you have this way of charming your viewers. Subbed. That Focus SVT is already a classic as is the MR2 both deliver perf and value and can be setup for even more.
@@toestrrman The same current flow through the same air gap, only difference would be direction of flow with respect to the dissimilar metals of the terminal and the lug. That can make a big difference when talking about open circuit voltage and currents associated with welding, but on a 12v system you're doing something else wrong if you have enough load on the system for there to be a difference.
toestrrman there should never be a load on the system when your disconnecting or reconnecting a cars battery, if there is, you’d have a dead battery when the car is parked.
Liking the new video style, Garage Sarah to the rescue. I use a hot air gun and a paint scraper to remove sound deadening, but I think your garage is hot enough. Mr Dos please, got show fitting thew plates and taking him for a spin now he's all legal.
12:55 I love this guy HAHAHAHAHAHA😂 his shoes off and now he’s under the car trying to hide from the camera like I can’t see him complaining down there 😂
Sarah -n- Tuned in 3,2,1 time lapse. Sarah would be done with that video in like all of like a half of this video and still have more than enough time to hoon about
The step bits are great and the good news is harbor freight has cheep ones that work good . Three pack of small ones and two pack of big ones well worth it. Use rubber tape then good 3m electrical tape over that it's what we use to cover the connections coming into houses, electricians that is. Big wire cutters at harbor freight also ,look like bolt cutters but for big wire. Geez like a harbor freight commercial.
Congratulations! You never gave up and now the MR2 is back, even to the bureaucrats! Glad you remembered to wear gloves while handling dry ice. That crap feels like a small electric shock, which can be damn annoying.
new subscriber, love your quirky personality and sense of humor. Keep it up! would love to see any content, think its your personality that makes all your videos so great!
Also be sure to install a substantial ground cable from the engine to the chassis, or you will not have a direct ground the way you have the ground cable bolted to the seat mount. Just because it runs this way. Remember the engine is mounted in rubber and electricity will find an indirect ground. If you want to know why and how this happens ask me. GM had this problem in 1973 on their B body cars that I diagnosed and wrote a technical service bulletin for tech's.
Think about who'll need to use the kill switch if it's needed and what they'll need to do to use it. Try to make it as easy as you can for them because it's nice to have you around, even if you do have a few scars. Personally I would mount it to the left of the steering wheel in where the air vent is. You could use the air vent a template for the mount. Mr Dos or Sir Codsworth both work. 94F is no joke so choose the one that doesn't make you hotter than you already are. Happy summer!☀️☀️☀️😀
FWIW, if you crush dry ice and make a slush with isopropyl alcohol, that conducts the cold much better. Of course the alcohol vapors can be toxic and flammable, but high CO2 concentrations can knock you out too.
Hi Sarah, just an fyi... you can obtain much higher quality terminal connectors an also power distribution blocks for under the hood from most car audio shops. I think you’ll have better luck there than you would at the auto parts store. 👍🏻
For your weather proof terminals (and a tool or two) visit a store that is specialized in selling electrical supplies. The terminals you want are; "insulated black mechanical lug/" the total number of wire you have is how many ports you need (have three wires get three ports, 4, 4 ports....) there is a set screw inside the cap to compress the wire. If your unsure of the wire gauge, take a small piece of the largest wire you have, with you (you can set smaller with a big lug but, not go larger with a small lug). Also while there ask about a pair of " wire loppers" you'll not struggle to cat wire again. Lastly, pick up a roll of "33 (as known in the field" (scotch 33+) wrap the lug a few times, in the direction of the caps (that cover the set screws), as those can vibrate loose and fall out. if you want more insulation use 88, "3M Super 88" . If by chance you want to color coordinate the tape, 33 is black tape period, ask for 35 and say the color you want (35 is use to color phase electrical wires in a system). Google those item names and go to images, the items should pop up to give you an idea of what I'm talking about and you can determine if you want to go this route. Cheers !!!
Sarah, you might try a online marine supply shop for weather proof electrical blocks, terminals ect. Also, a air chisel from Harbor Freight might speed up the sound deadening removal. They are pretty inexpensive. Really enjoying your videos.
Quick suggestion - You really should get one of the cheap hydraulic crimpers to do the terminals on large wire like that. The crimpers you had don't put near enough pressure to make proper crimp on wire that size. They are like $60 at harbor freight before a 20% coupon, or around $40 on amazon. I think they are like 10 ton
Harbor Freight has Pittsburg Cable Cutters for about 8 bucks. They work great for cutting cables and large gauge wires. BTW I enjoy you work and videos can’t wait to see more.
Its stupid hot in Florida today as well never thought id say this but i miss living up north awesome video Sara i really think your channel ig going to grow super fast you have great content & your a really likeable person.
If you're going to be doing a bunch of work with heavier gauge wire get yourself a cable cutter. Ratcheting cutters work great, but even a non-ratcheting unit will get you through plus it builds hand strength. As far as your positive wire bundle what about a bus. Marine stores sell buses in all different sizes. Also a few extra spots wouldn't hurt for Rally lights or anything else you could dream up.
Marine grade busbar??? Also get a pair of klein 63050 copper cable cutters, right tool for the job... You should really reconsider your kill switch placement; it is conveniently located for you the driver, but think if you are unconscious and rescue has to hit the kill switch and get you out of the vehicle.
Love the Australian theme Nails. Are those Nails to show your appreciation to all your Australian fans. I love when Summer arrives in Arizona, not sure why. : )
K5 I bought last summer had positive cable extended like you did they put that connector bolt inside a blue plastic conduit box from home depot so it wouldn't ground and arc
Like your new style of videos. Never knew you can put camouflage spots on your car by dry ice. Please show some more of Sir Codsworth and your strong helping hands. Good (summer) night from Germany (up to 100 degrees next week) ☀️☀️☀️😎

Ty. Happy Summer fun car repair girl who lives in the desert. Nice job. Lucky are all the cars you repair.
I like the backstories and what you do outside of your garage visiting friends.

Knipex make a great set of cable cutters. I’ve had a set for 15 years. They still work well. As long a you only use them to cut hose and copper.

Any electrical connections shrink wrap at Terminal points, electrolytic Grease all connectors it blocks moisture no creepy green death

...yes life is random, and you are you as always... its all good Sarah !
A little helpful tid bit young lady : when hooking up a battery ,always hook up the ground side last ( and remove it first ) love your channel !
It really makes no difference at all, as long as you're not sloppy enough to touch a wrench between the positive terminal and something grounded.
Dave , there is a difference in the amount of spark , if there’s a load on the system
