I would say for true professional, Milwaukee makes small rotary hammer drill in m12 fuel series. Then get the impactor and hammer drill based on ur needs. If 12v is good then Milwaukee makes amazing 12v stuff no one Else can compete, if u want more power Dewalt take a look at Dewalts atomic or XR. A lot of people are looking for an all in one when starting, I would say the 3rd Gen m12 fuel is the way to go. Then make an amazing hammer drill suitable for many things and rakes hex bits

I ended up with two of the Flex turbo hammer drills. The first one I bought for $99 from Acme last July, primarily for the batts and charger. That tool took a bit to ship, though, so I found a good deal on the stacked turbo HD and impact kit. I don't need two hammer drills, so I've turned one into a dedicated drywall mud mixer. It's we'll see how long it can last. Maybe 30 buckets in so far, and it handles the large Level 5 mixing paddle no problem. Of the few Flex tools that I have, they all feel solid. My favorites are the fan and the tripod light.

Hammer drill is great until it gets stuck in only hammer mode. Common issue with Makita for some reason. Personally I like a drill/driver and a separate sds hammer drill for concrete.

I’m just a homeowner and got some dewalt 20 volt stuff so was looking for dewalt 20 volt drill. My local ace had clearance on a DCD 999 hammer drill w 6 ah flexvolt battery for $120. Idk why I thought a hammer drill was way different than a regular drill. I thought maybe I needed both. I got all bases covered tho after what I learned from this vid. Thanks
When in doubt choose both. I never cried myself to sleep over having redundant backup of good tools since double the tools halves eaches wear rate (assuming each was used equally), and can reduce bit or accessory swaps. For example I'll have one drill with a machinist's starter drill bit, one with a pilot bit and one with the final size when doing some steel work like building my shop shelves of steel angle.
I hardly touch my hammer drill since buying the brand new compact brushless Milwaukee drill it’s so light and basically just as powerful as my gen2 fuel hammer drill and so so much lighter. I have a rotary hammer if I need to drill into concrete or cinder.

Thoughts I don't think I will ever use the hammer function I mean do you think I will be pleased with hammer drill set to screw setting? Ideas please thank you
People clown on the hammer of most cordless drills, but I think 90% of owners just want one tool that they can use for screws and holes in all materials (including concrete once in a blue moon))

I consider a hammer drill to be the middle ground between a drill driver and SDS. For a typical home owner, a hammer drill would be more than enough. I am wondering why there is no hammer only function in a hammer drill. I think that feature would come in handy to drive in nails, etc. which would be similar to Milwaukee's palm nailer.

Jack of all trades-tools may work for people with limited budgets, but dedicated tools are the right way to go for people who make money with their tools. A normal drill driver is more compact and lighter which is in itself a win. Impact drivers are even better if you can handle the noise. Nothing beats impact drivers at driving in screws unless it's a situation where you need a lot of torque-control.

My opinion, way better to have small light non-hammer drill Get a super cheap corded rotary hammer style for anything masonry. The stupid small combo hammer drills are weak as heck and you only use the hammer function 2% of the time
The only guys I see on the jobsite using a hammer drill to drill in concrete are the ones who either haven't invested in an SDS or are hired day laborers who don't really have their own tools. Real pros use an SDS to drill in concrete.
