    "Can I still be doing prison UA-cam, five years separated from being released from prison?"
    Consider this similar question:
    Are today's 75-year-olds allowed to talk about the Vietnam war despite the war ending 45 years ago?
    The answer to both of these questions is "absolutely hell f---ing yes." 75-year-olds are the exact people we WANT to tell us about their experience in Vietnam. And people who have been to prison are the exact ones we WANT to hear about prison from.
    The fact that you're smart and strong enough to avoid becoming just another recidivist statistic doesn't disqualify you from speaking on your prison experience, whether it was 5 years ago or 35 years ago. You earned that right with your _BLOOD, SWEAT, and YEARS_ , my man.
    You earned the choice to speak on that reality if you want to, and to educate & entertain folks with your knowledge and experience of such an unforgettable life experience, and give all the real MF'ers a down-to-earth UA-cam personality they can relate to on a REAL level.
    Having gone to prison will always be a part of you. It's just awesome that you've found a way to turn such a negative thing into such a positive now, both for you and all of us too.
    Anyone who tells you that you need to give it up is crazy. That's a silly human being, probably jealous of your success. We dig your channel and your stories and blogs and everything, and we appreciate all the information and entertainment you share with us, and all the effort you put into your channel. You're doing it right, man.
    I'll tell you what, we're gonna stick around and ride out with you on this UA-cam thing, homie. Keep doing what you're doing right up until YOU decide you're not enjoying it anymore. Until then...
    *_Nothing to it but to do it_* .

      Cheryl Swart not really. They just feed homeless people for the 72 hours, force people to do something in that time frame, and board patients who were booted from their group home. You got drugged, stripped, and released with a referral. Could’ve shipped 1&2 and made an appointment yourself

    My first vid was an old friend of yours whom you did s day in the life of an addict. It was very saddening. I was very relieved you did an update & she was doing phenomenal. I love the success stories. Stories like yours!! Keep living life full of family & love! I'll keep watching APS as long as you keep doing APS. BRAVO JOE, BRAVO! Some want it bad enough, some dont. Tom didnt, you did!!! Life well done!

    • @Dpurple28
      @Dpurple28 4 роки тому +1

      It takes more then just wanting to do good. Some people don't have support or family so I think your statement is a little judgmental and not true!!!!

    • @kimberlydavies8799
      @kimberlydavies8799 4 роки тому +1

      @@Dpurple28 wow, that was fast Danaka. I'm not trying to be judgmental, I just really love hearing success stories simply because it seems to be far less. I'm the last person to judge. I myself am a recovering heroin addict. I started at 40 after being prescribed pain pills at 36. I never smoked, drank,etc. My little brother died of a heroin overdose 2 years ago at the age of 36. We had no idea he had an addiction. My father died of a heart attack a very few short months after burying his child. I lost my brother & my Daddy in months of eachother over heroin. This occurred 7 years after I had gotten clean. So, it's hard for me to hear loss after loss. I feel Joe was determined to choose to be a sober hardworking man and Tom did not. And no, it's not always so black or white. I chose to live a sober life. If I had only known maybe I could have saved my brother & our father would still be with us as well. Mainly I was trying to applaud Joe on being bound and determined to get out & live sober, hard working, & a loving family man. He chose his destiny. My apologies if I upset you as it was not my intention to do so. Joe didnt have much support either if you've watched from the beginning. His family has since been supportive after he has worked hard at becoming who he is today. Again, I wasn't trying to be judgmental, although I have unfortunately been through a lot to be able to talk on it I suppose.

    The part about inspiring people to get it together before you can’t anymore.. so true. It could be prison, it could be an insane asylum, it could be straight losing your mind, or that you just fucking die. YOU WILL LOSE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE AT SOME POINT. Look inside yourself right now no matter how hard that is.. stop avoiding it.. be real with yourself. I’m a former addict, my brother was incarcerated for 9 years after facing 25, my uncle is in red onion state prison in Virginia for life, my best friend died last year from an overdose. Ain’t nothing good going to happen from drugs & crime.

      I agree but Joe has to prepare himself for what he might find... This guy could have snapped & become homicidal. He could have developed some form of psychosis or wetbrain. Hell, he could have had a stroke and no longer know his head from his ass. Drug and/or alcohol abuse can predispose someone to all kinds of serious mental conditions & I dunno if Joe is ready for that. Sometimes its hard to see how deep someone's bottom is... especially when its someone you knew and cared about it.

    I was valedictorian, 30act score, a 4-time first team all State baseball player, full scholarship to college, AA for the reds and blew my arm out and team docs gave me oxy 20s and I quit 6 months later....I spent the next 2 years doing 7-9 OC 80s a day EVERYDAY and ruined my life... LUCKILY I NEVER GOT IN TROUBLE BUT ADDICTION WILL TAKE EVERYTHING FROM YOU....I got clean 10/25/2007...12 years later I can't believe I did that stuff but it's been 10 years since I have had to fight a craving but man it can hit you hard and fast

    Love your videos! I am a new viewer so I'm not sure if you've already made a video on the subject; but it would be really cool to see you talk about your past as an addict and what you did to overcome addiction. How long were you addicted? How long did it take to get off? Keep up the work fam!

    My understanding, based on what happened once with my brother, is if you plead NGRI (not guilty by reason of insanity), your sentence begins in a facility for the criminally insane. The facility ... as the article stated ... works at getting the prisoner to a point where they can serve out their sentence in a regular prison. Sadly, most people never make it out of those facilities because of the hearing process involved with trying to get out. So, I'm wondering what this Tom guy plead.
