I am just practicing this wonderful D-minor by S. L. Weiss with my lute teacher. I am learning a lot from this exemplary performance by Darco Karajic. It doesn't look like it was posted 13 years ago. Thank you. Paul
I've never heard this played with so much feel! Thank you for the lovely music! This theorbo has the most magnificent sound, powerful, full of colours. I particularly like the ornaments!
Bravo Darko! I listened to your playing in Belgrade from the very beginning of your career, when you started with the ensembles “Musica Antiqua”, “Ars Nova”, and “Renaissance”.... This is wonderful playing, wonderful instrument! Your tone is fantastic! BRAVO!!!!!
Ey Darko, prvi put sam te vidio i cuo u aprilu `84, u jednoj hladnoj "drustvenoj" prostoriji kasarne bubanjskih heroja u Nisu, uvijek si bio dobar "uzivo" druze desetaru ...
excellent Darko. I am playing this D-minor Weiss suited for the last 20 years as an amateur on my 13 ch B-lute built by Dan Larson in MN USA. I don't even get close to this wonderful performance . it is an excellent teaching source for me. Can't wait to listen to the remaining Suite : Allemande, Courante, Bouree, Menuet I,II greetings from California
Literally the best interpretation of this I've heard. In some of the Barren parts he adds his own style, and it's so nice that now when I listen to recordings without these additions they seem bland and tasteless. I think you effectively IMPROVED a weiss piece, quite a rare thing I must say
Wonderful, expressive, lovely. That second movement, though -- isn't that actually the Andantino from the first suite in the Moscow Manuscript? Perhaps Weiss revisited it later as a Sarabande elsewhere? In any case, I'd been looking for a good recording for study, and you've certainly provided an excellent one! Your ornaments and acciacaturas, especially, are wonderful!
rockaboemba Kind of an odd question but is there any way you could ask him where he bought or found the tablature for this? I really want to learn this but i can't find it anywhere.
Great pieces and performance !! Isn't what we call a theorbo - lute ? (bit bigger than the lute and with 2 boxes for pegs). Or simply an Italian small theorbo called archlute ?
Suonata SC 34 in d minor, Sachsische Staatsbibliothek, Dresden, MS V.2841. Recordings of this Suonata are readily available, since it less technically demanding than many other works in the Dresdener source and is frequently performed. For additional information, this is the finest source on Weiß and his music on the web: www.slweiss.com/
In all seriousness, the rosette carved into the soundboard is a throwback to the lute's Arabic origins. The word "lute" is itself based on the Arabic name for a similar instrument, "Al Oud".
"Most people who sign up on healthcare.gov, qualify to get free money extracted from my hide by force. So do your happy dance, you worthless sobs'" - sorry, the commercial made me sick.
T Oadaly I know. It's sickening how people who don't pay taxes or have jobs even get free healthcare and government run healthcare has gotten to the point where family's can be charged 4x more than regular healthcare, and still receive worst benefits.
Beautiful music and also very well played! 🎶🎼🎵🙂
Bravo Darko! Absolutely beautiful! Lots of musicianship!
You see folks, what they say about bald men IS true! ........ "Grass does not grow on busy streets!". Wonderful music, brilliantly played.

This version of the suite is from the Dresden manuscript.
Good playing, I cannot understand why 16 people give a negative "like", jealousy perhaps ……………?
АУХ!
Proud to say he is my relative !
I would be proud too! Is he a distant relative or close?

Excellent!!!
Especially the Gigue with the very clear bass line.
Who is the lutemaker?
Thanks, Andreas
It is Nico van der Waals. Sorry to answer so late.
Nic van der Waals
Great pieces and performance !! Isn't what we call a theorbo - lute ? (bit bigger than the lute and with 2 boxes for pegs). Or simply an Italian small theorbo called archlute ?
German Theorbo
Fantastic performance. But I thought this piece was written for 13-course lute in d minor tuning. What's the instrument used in the video?
German Theorbo Nic van der Waals 1979
Very beautiful! Is it a part of a suite? And if so, what suite is it?
Suonata SC 34 in d minor, Sachsische Staatsbibliothek, Dresden, MS V.2841. Many congratulations .... lute which master lute? Which luthier?
Nic van der Waals
Could some pass me some original plan, of a manufacture
? from email please
does that lute hole look demonic or am I just baked?
You are on LSD.
In all seriousness, the rosette carved into the soundboard is a throwback to the lute's Arabic origins. The word "lute" is itself based on the Arabic name for a similar instrument, "Al Oud".
Someone knows the name of the piece?
Sonata no 34 in E minor
@@rainbowwarrior9018 Is in D minor
May I know the name of the lute maker?
Nic van der Waals 1979
Prístina elocuencia
Superimposed images gave me a headache. The music is the art... not the pretentious video
