Who can stop Taliban advance? | Inside Story

- The future of Afghanistan is topping most international agendas this week, with many fearing a return to Taliban rule of 20 years ago.
The group's continuing to make strong advances across the country, taking control of major cities.
It's also managed to release thousands of prisoners, and looted military barracks, some of which were run, until last month, by the United States.
As hundreds of thousands of Afghans flee their homes trying to find safety elsewhere, President Ashraf Ghani is determined the Taliban will not win:
But what can Ghani do to stop the Taliban?
Presenter: Kim Vinell
Guests:
Shinkhai Karokhail, member of Afghanistan's National Parliament and Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Women Caucus.
Haroun Rahimi, assistant Professor of Law at American University of Afghanistan.
Nick Kay, former UK ambassador to Afghanistan.

You will understand if you were also one of those who made millions of dollars from it 😋
Read the Noam Chomsky books, tnis is old tactics by us govs. Oh and the confession of EHM.
It’s not complicated. First, send a message to the world that the USA will strike back. Secondly, you go after the people responsible so they don’t kill another 3,000 on the mainland. Third, you keep them on the defensive and always looking over their shoulders.
It's our USA Gov logic. 3000 dead on 9/11 is bad. 3000 people dead in a futile invasion is ok because "reasons".
Ye it’s really sad tbh all that death for nothing and more to come for sure, what’s scary is the taliban are a lot more advanced now, so there could be another full scale war if it gets really out of hand.

Yes, those who had been living in KabulBubble indeed have no place in Afghanistan, while the rest of country suffered the elite got rich. They played a direct role in misery and humiliation of Afghan people across the country.
Same game plan playing out in the USA. Elites getting richer while they set up diversion tactics to split the populace among race money and fake governmental parties.

I think it is not just corruption. It is also hubris. They believe the nonsense they learned in western universities. Afganistan is a traditional country with limited resources. Their cultural system is organic and has evolved over time to meet their realities. When their realities change organically and over time, their social structure will change too. In a rural agricultural society education especially for women is not that important. Spending resources to educate girls has no immediate benefit but her marrying and having babies does. Is it fair to aspiration of that girl of course not. But you can't change other societies. It is so obvious but hard to accept especially for elites.

No one can stop them now, unfortunately. I think the US needed to get out after 20 years, but they really should have made sure the Afghan Army were prepared to stop the Taliban as they were already taking over large swathes of the country.
If after 20 years the ANA(Afghan national army) wasn’t prepared then tell me when was it ever going to be prepared after we spent 50 years there???? They’re cowards who run from the Taliban no matter how much training one has if they lack the will to fight then there’s nothing we can do the ANA has no morales and the leaders are all corrupt
Did you think Allah would not support His believing slaves, who strive in His cause and do not fear the blame of the blamers and nor do they exchange the verses of Allah for a cheap price, nor do they make friends with a people who Allah is angry with?
The US, west, and Russia started this war in the 80s. Now we leave before we have repaired the damage, and left them with an army that doesnt have the logistics train to support isolated towns. Rebuilding a nation, its logistics, and identity takes a long time. Another 5 or 6 years and afghanistan would have been secure. We instead made a mess for 40 year then left them to clean up. Its our fault that we left them to the mercy of pakistani militart backed terrorist groups like the taliban. We shattered their nation, and left after duct taping the situation. Shameless and irresponsible.
They had everything they needed except the will to fight for their "Democracy".
The Afghan Army had no chance. You must understand the Afghan culture. Afghans never supported the Afghan Army as they would never recognize a central national government. Afghanistan is not a nation but rather multiple nations fighting each other. They do things differently in Afghanistan. They acknowledge legitimate power among their clans and tribes. The Afghan government, you know what they do? They pocket money. The police and military set up check points to exhort people. They naturally resort to their clans and tribes for protection as they always did for centuries. The ANA recruits ghost soldiers, soldiers who don't exist, as to collect their paychecks. The list goes on. Crimes against humanity, Afghan government is accused of that too, and this is not just airstrikes. There is no hope for that country and really naive to assume you can install a model of Western democracy on it. The Soviet military did not do recon of Afghanistan before they rolled in there with tanks but the US did something just as laughable, assume they can recreate a Western society on them without studying the people first and basically doing it over night. Afghanistan mess comes from the naive view of George W. Bush. Obama did not want these wars and Biden is more than justified in withdrawing. The real Afghanistan is not what the media is reporting. When you understand what is really going on, then you understand the outcomes. It doesn't matter the method the US uses to pull out because the ANA never had support anyways outside the US to begin with. This is the reason why they won't fight and are "demoralized".
So, can we get an accurate accounting of the dead and wounded for the past 20 years, to end up where Afghanistan was back then. And the profits made by the military contracts.
The answer is NO
All on our hard paid taxes, too.
Be a good boy and do not ask such questions. If in doubt, blame the Taliban.

The Taliban have ruled parts of Afghanistan until today so it's not like they came out of nowhere. The Biologic Intelligence Force could really help out in a situation like this.
Ashraf Ghani a planted puppet cannot do anything without the ones who created and planted him.
Today is the 15th of August.
We have promised ourselves for the liberation of the KASHMIR VALLEY
We will continue to fight till the last drop of our blood.
Allah Akbar
Once Afghanistan falls, I’m curious to watch what will happen in Pakistan. They helped make them and wondering if the dog will bite the master.
That one will be interesting to watch indeed. But I guess taliban understands the double game of pakistan and is no more that "naive" after negotiating with countries literally like china and others. They will demand their share from pakistan which is basically the region bordering pakistan-afghnaistan (taliban do not recognize the durand line btw) and pakistan will have no option but to oblige. But even if we consider that pakistan resists this then it will be very bad for them. Tbh I like the latter option which can obliterate pakistan which will be very good for the rest of world.
Only chuck norris can stop taliban advance
Welcome Back to your home Taliban.
The US intelligence community that did not see this Taliban advance coming, when anyone with a sense of reason saw it coming for a decade or more, is the intelligence community that we should rely on to keep us safe. Satirical, if it weren't so tragic.
