when I first arrived in new york, I kept coming back to washington square park's chess plaza. I was drawn to this corner of new york, not because I know a lot about chess by any means, but because there is a special energy here that I wanted to capture. it feels like it is its own little world.
eventually, I started filming the chess masters and their matches. I am so grateful to the players for allowing me to film them, for telling me stories and for being so kind to me.
