like your style keep having fun on your journeys ....worked in croatia and bosnia for the UN post conflict bought a used car to travel the balkans....go the the carpathians in romania europes last wilderness.. brought my border collie the second year to share my travels....Mollie the collie loved those times...a viewer from the snowy mountains of Montana....people always asked me where i was from knowing i was canadian or american...i always ansawered im from Montana and so often people would respond Ive always wanted to go to Montana

About the language "Croatian" "Montenegrin" is because the ex Yugoslavian countries has a deep need of self recognition although "is the same" they want to be as different as possible, i am Brazilian and we speak Portuguese here, would be like if we changed the language to Brazilian, but we cool with Portugal so we just don't care

I always recommend just getting lost in the streets without a plan. There is always so much to see, but finding your own spots can be fun!

In terms of the Slavic language being the same, that is true to some extent..
But for example, i can speak Macedonian, i can understand most Slavic languages, but am more closely aligned to Bulgarian or Slovenian, as opposed to Serbian or Croatian.

Budva is over 2500 years old
So little is known of these particular countries because they were lumped together after WWll and little was covered in contemporary history regarding the unique heritages of these 7(?) countries..except that Tito ran them with a communist iron fist. Every trip you take to these Balkan coutries is so interesting because we know so little about them and their people. Thanks...and onward with your travels!
