In the Panhandle, how far out you are roughly equates to how big of an AJ you're going to catch haha. 10 miles for the 10 pounders, 20 miles for the 20 pounders and 80 miles to the rigs for the big boys.
Makes me sick to hear they are commercial wiping out amberjack now too, as if they the tiny little hundred million dollar commercial industry deserves to rob the multi billion dollar recreational industry of any more species, smh
Totally agreed. Same for stripers on the East Coast... You wonder why hotel owners, gas stations, boat dealers, tackle shops, restaurants, etc don't all band together to say: hey, this fishery brings in tens of thousands of people. Why would you want to destroy it to sustain a few people for a couple of seasons until the stocks are gone? Makes no goddam sense to me.
How old are you? The size of fish are half what they were 30 years ago along the whole mid-Atlantic up to Maine and the numbers have completely crashed (though they have always been cyclical). Ask anybody who has been fishing these waters for a few decades. It's about the spawning grounds (pollution of rivers), the over-fishing of menhaden, and the commercial fishery.
You're channel is the best out there in my opinion. More amberjacks videos for sure! Catching yellowtail(amberjack family) with Tito Ortiz Is my favorite video. I've watched it at least 12 times.Wanted to ask a question. Hopefully you're willing to answer it. Would you ever recommend buying an affordable rod under a hundred bucks when your on a budget? If so any suggestions?
Lol I wish I was fishing in that weather. I'm a mate on a charter boat out of Delaware and we've been tog fishing in max 30 degrees. The other day it was a high of 17 degrees we were fishing and we had to put our crabs we were using as bait in the ice box because it was warmer in the ice box than it was outside. Boat was covered in ice. If I could show you a picture of the rods from running back to the dock I would. Great video
Did a lot of fishing for amberjack, tuna, wahoo, bull dolphin etc. in the Gulf of Mexico some years back. Used to use big Penn spinning reels and rods but found that for bigger fish that a stand up rod and level wind reel with a belt worked better. For bigger fish 30lbs +, the long spinning outfits are advantage fish.....stand up gear and belt is advantage angler especially if trying to keep fish away from an oil rig or bottom wreck. Surprising to see fishing shows on you tube using spinning gear.
The monster AJs are out at the middle grounds, on the big wrecks in 200 ft or more. Caught a 115-120 lb one there last year, would have been a state record in that line class if I'd bothered to keep it or record the dimensions.
@blacktipH today just went fishing in mexico and caught a sail fish there is a lot around but it is catch and release so if u want go for some sailfish and barracuda we caught a few of em so they are defiantly out!
You should come to socal again in like late July or August and try to catch the yellowtail I think they are in the jack family they are super fun when they are on top.
Hey JOSH ...... That boat, what an ID 10 T .... !!!! It's the same here in Sth Australia on any decent Snapper Drop ..... What, you can't see me ....... OMG ...... Why do they have to fish on top of you .... great to see you kept filming ..... !!!! OH, NICE STELLA 30,000 .................... I noticed you fish R/H with that one ........... And this is WHY it is FISHING, NOT Catching ..... best plans can go sideways ...... Cheers "Down Under Mike"
You should come to Hawaii and go out to catch some monster G.T.’s off the boat. Their super fun to catch and pound for pound are close to amberjacks in strength.
Guys thanks a lot for your videos. I started fishing and was just wondering do you stop the boat for fishing at sandy areas or at coral reef areas and which are the best? Thanks
Muhammed Dunia why would he go all the way to australia to catch little 30kg jewfish when the goliath groupers we have here in florida (a type of jewfish) can reach 600 pounds+ or 272 kg+
Thumbs up if you want more amberjack videos! 👍
BlacktipH nah more big lbsf
Looks like your rod is going to snap what the weight ratio

+Someone Else striper population is huge on the east coast from maryland to NY(where i'm from)

The harvest of amberjack is heavily gm regulated and the commercial season commonly only last a few weeks a year
Tim Potteiger agree
The difference between the drag sound of a Shimano Stella and a Penn reel tells a lot.

TheMasterCasters Premium beat .com lol
Possibly they partnered.
While editing this video, I forgot to switch out the MP3s for the WAVs. First time I’ve ever made that mistake and hopefully it never happens again.
BlacktipH it was still an amazing intro, don’t sweat it

AJs!!! That's it I'm going offshore this weekend. IT'S TIME!
I've been watching your videos for a long time
I live right next to oniels bait and tackle like 3 blocks away behind gator Jim’s
Best snook spot behind the logger head marina
I love the sound of that drag.
Dude you whooped some a** today keeping them out of the wreck!
Lol I thought the title said lumberjacks and I was like ''what... Umm ok on that side of UA-cam again.''

Jake with the double BlacktipH reply
Everyone loves to be by Josh
@@TheMasterCaster nice
I caught a 65 lb amberjack in Islamorada on spinning gear from 300 ft down , and it fought harder than a 150lb bluefin on spinning gear

Love amberjack vids.
The first amberjack he caught, he said it was, small, that may be true for an amberjack, but for a regular fish, that is huge
That rod bend is crazy!
Hey blacktiph. I was wondering if you were going to make a video on how to fish the black tip migration in regards to bait and locations
I was fishing for hours in when the wind chill was -11. 40 would be like a spring day.
Gettin' jiggy wid it, looks fun !
Great fishing guys,so sad with the encounter of that boat....
man i'm going to cancun this upcoming march and hopefully getting on a charter. this looks like a blast! cant wait to go!!!
Good job😁👍👍👍
I LOVE THE BACK ROUND 🎵
Why do you not use the big shark reels for the amberjacks?
Come fish the middlegrounds off Hernando county. there are some nice fish there also.
I was just in Tampa, and it was cold for Florida!!!!🦈🦈🦈
I wonder how many fish he kepts a year?
hard bottom for the snapper?
Are you going to do another meet up over here in St. Petersburg. Wasn’t able to make the one you did at gator Jim’s
What!!! 40 degrees and you have 7 layers?! that teeshirt weather!
You should come to socal again in like late July or August and try to catch the yellowtail I think they are in the jack family they are super fun when they are on top.
What skate was that? Here in the uk we have small eyed rays, undulate rays, blonde rays, thornbacks and the common skate.
Lol the only fish ive caught are small rock cods and a small Red snapper
Did u get a new camera or is it just me because it looks better quality this video
A whole ocean out there and two boats fighting for a spot.....lol
Hey JOSH ...... That boat, what an ID 10 T .... !!!!

We will go fishing again soon.
I noticed your always using the Stella reel.. is is that your favorite
Josh you have been up to Wisconsin you know its not cold down there. Its not really cold up here right now either!
I love ur amberjack vids in Miami
I found an old Penn international ii 30tw that's in good condition on the market place, I'm thinking about getting it for AJs, GTs and sharks
Water temperature doesn’t get affected much at the depth you were catching amberjacks right?
the Giant Trevally to me is the pound for pound hardest fighting fish but great video
Is that pink thing a toungue or bait when u catch the small grouper?
40 degrees here in New York would be 2-3 shirts ontop of each other with 2 jackets an extra hat maybe 2 pairs of socks on top
Guys thanks a lot for your videos. I started fishing and was just wondering do you stop the boat for fishing at sandy areas or at coral reef areas and which are the best? Thanks
How big are the lizard fish offshore there? I caught a bunch in the surf near Tampa on top water that were around 12”
haha “it’s brutal out here the ice hasn’t melted yet” it was 36 today where i live in connecticut and i was like wow it feels like summer AHAHAA
What's the name or brand of the rod that was paired with the stradic?....
Come to Australia and do some KingFishing :)
Cazsss Australia have small kingfish haha come to New Zealand for the real deal
Don't compare a kingfish here in Aus to what he is catching,
I'd love to see him come catch a jew fish above 30kg
Muhammed Dunia Kingfish in Aus are little pups, here in NZ we get them to 52kg
Daniel Fishing yea I already know that, that's y we call them rats
Muhammed Dunia why would he go all the way to australia to catch little 30kg jewfish when the goliath groupers we have here in florida (a type of jewfish) can reach 600 pounds+ or 272 kg+
what rod and reel are you usingfor those snapper

Hello my friend can you tell me what is the name of the costa sunglasses that you are wearing in this video? Thank you for the information.
Might’ve been a rough day for you, still a great video for us!
46 degrees would be welcome up here right about now, I’m itching to get back in the surf
Cool bro..what brand are you wearing PE line on stella?
If i want to fish for Amberjacks, where and how deep should i fish.
