  • My Chinese diesel heater in my truck camper tiny home decided to pack its bags and roll on out after having it shut down in the middle of the night in winter!
I took it apart to clean it and further investigate the famous E-10 code.
Did what I could to try and diagnose what went wrong or what was causing it to soot up.

Thank you for this. Soot was clogging glow plug and completely full of soot in the burner. Was going to send it BK till I saw this. Greatly appreciate you posting this. I'm now warm again.

Used a vacuum on the exhaust pipe during startup and it worked like a dream . Only took a couple of seconds . Think it helped the fuel air mixture . Make sure you run it hot once in a while to burn the shit out.

I did the same thing. Best fix ever. Question now is, how many times can you vacuum the exhaust before it stops working?

fuel pump is upside down. the electrical connector end should be up at least at a 45 degree angle. According to the manual, it is very important to have the pump situated properly. If you're getting E-10 error codes and inefficient burning, this is probably why.

This kept happening to me pulled that sucker apart 100 times before I figured out the exhaust was blocked up a new chamber and and motor fans asembererly later 😂😂😂 did clean the exhaust I thought but obviously not enough where it bends 😂

I'll bet the dry bearings in the fan are causing problems with not enough air. Same as too much fuel.

Not sure what heater you have. The fuel pump for a 5kw heater is 22ml, for a 2kw heater the fuel pump is 18.5ml. Hope that helps.

1 don't mess with settings. 2 crank it up (heat) to burn the carbon out once in a while.

I went onto the Chinese diesel heater trouble shooting Facebook page, most of them told me to adjust to my sea level. And it seemed to work for a bit. Then it just quit. No matter what I tried it would carbon up and give me an e 10. I then noticed that upon start up it would drop to 11.3v no matter how much voltage was at the battery. Tried upgrading the wiring and that still didn't work would always get a huge voltage drop. So instead of wasting time and ordering a new fan which I think was the final cause, I just ordered a new heater. I didn't want the fan to come in and still not work lol

@@Mitchell2915 change the power cable to 20amp rated it will help with voltage loss, and remember these heaters pull 10 amps on start up👍🏻

I've never had that problem although I run mine on high none stop throughout the heating season

ive just had exactly the same issues and I recently put in one of those motherboards that you replaced yours with, so it arrived with the settings low 1.4 Hz 1500 rpm fan speed and High 3.5 Hz 3500 rpm I checked a few posts about settings for the 5kw heater and it said to try 1.2 Hz low at 1680 rpm and 5.5Hz High at 4500 rpm and its running perfectly now. I think the new ecus are in fact from used units and the settings may be for 2kw heaters and not 5kw heaters anyway with the new settings it seems to be running well so far.

Here is an easy tip. I fitted a diesel heater into my parents van. when they came back from a trip it was doing the white smoke, no heat thing and E10 code. As it turned out they accidently turned the heater down and not off. When I turned the heater back on I turned it up to 35 and "Wallah" , Heater fired up> !!

Its fueling is probably to high you need to tweak the fuel and air which will stop it getting gunked up.

I'm thinking of buying a spare same unit . Anything goes wrong can swap out parts to sort it .

Having the E10 issue for the first time...looks like I'm sleeping in the cold for a few nights! Also I think your fuel pump is up side down...not sure if that's the cause but it cant help any

Take a vacuum cleaner. Put it on your exhaust pipe. Add some duct tape to seal it. Turn the vacuum cleaner on and let it suck all that junk out. Give the exhaust pipe and main section (around the hard metal bits) a few good hits with a metal tool. Start it back up, Your heater should work like new.
As a bonus, give it a couple more vacuums after you turn it on. ... Just don't melt your vacuum.

mine is out after only 200H, completely clogged mesh and burning chamber. No flame anymore and E10.
I used it at the low setting approx 88°C air to the workhouse which is very ok and warm. What can be done to prevent clogging of mesh ? What is max recommended continuous duration, before shutdown? Do you have to run it at higher power sometimes and for how long ? (because then there is a burning smell)
