Great and possibly important footage. It was a great era for enthusiasts with such a variety of British built motive power and rolling stock. I got bored planespotting at Gatwick one day and started watching the trains. That was about 74/75. Travelled most of the country after that and saw all similar to your vids. Was lucky enough to be hauled by all the Deltics bar the two early departures of St. Paddy and Nimbus. I later found parts of these two dumped round the back during a Doncaster open day.
Amazing footage from York Trevor and great to see a short clip of a Trans-Pennine DMU of old, among all those classic diesel locos, not seen many of these on film. Regards, Jeff.
Some good ones on here Jeff.Trans Pennine Units i remember well like you.Bits of allsorts on this bit of cine..Thanks and glad you enjoyed it ...Trevor.''
Simply wonderful! Thanks to this short film, I've just been able to go back to being 7 years old. A time when I jumped up and down with excitement when a Deltic passed, magical carefree days....Thank you Trevor
They were great days Stu and always nice to watch classic trains what ever was coming through.Just like you my lads loved the Deltic's too...Cheers...Trevor.''
Loved it in the middle to late 70s Bill with all those great Deltic's making that lovely noise .you could here them coming a mile away.Happy Days and cheers for looking...Trevor.''
This footage is priceless Trevor....How great you spent time back then Filming all these Classics... To be able to use them now is invaluable....Thanks for showing us another gem....Steve.-:)
Its nice to watch Steve and to see what was running up and down the country in those days.Wish i had been able to afford a video camera in the late 70s....Regards....Trevor.''
Fantastic footage trevor. So wish all those loco hauled trains were around now. Remember watching from dringhouses yard. Was easy access and real busy :)
Wow !! Deltic heaven, and that would of been about the time when my Dad trusted me with his railway pass and a British railway timetable book....happy days Trevor !!
Cool video. Does anyone know of any footage of St. Paddy or Nimbus in service - the only two I missed due to being somewhat late to the party in 1979......?
One thing I remember from 1979 is that many locos including the Deltics were absolutely filthy. I think the carriage washing machine somewhere broke down and it took a long time to fix it.
These were the good old days Allan. All these great loco's and most of them lost for ever.Glad that i filmed this as it is always nice to look back to those great times....Cheers....Trevor.''
Nice to see what was about all those years ago Matt.As you can see you could call it the Deltic era but they were about to finish as the HSTs were taking over....Cheers...Trevor.''
At 2:53 to 3:07 minutes, the Deltics passing each other are numbers 55019 and 55021. Number 19 was the only one of the class with a regimental name at the time of this footage to carry numbers at both ends of each side of the locomotive. Having been released from Doncaster Works like this on 22nd September 1976 after its Heavy General Repair. The other is definitely not 55002 as you have stated because it did not carry a regimental crest above the nameplate.
Great footage bud but I think u'll find 55002 was actually 55021 as it has the regimental crest above the nameplate, no Gateshead loco bar 55008 carried one. 😆
Thanks Dave, love looking back at these great days.would have been nice to have had a video camera then but had to wait another 6 years for that.Yes that was John in his late teens who likes trains as you know.Great Days....Cheers..Trevor.''
Well your video just popped up on my feed and made my year so far ! Great memories thanks for posting
Thanks for your comment ..Trevor.

Those were the best days for action.
They were Barrie...Not as good today....Trevor.''
Sad music, happier times.
Done on those old 8mm cinefilm hand held konika cameras that had no soundtrack
never would have thought of Indian music to peaks and deltics lol lol, genius!
Thanks Ricky, something different while watching some trains.....Trevor.''
