    These days, the market is flooded with "heritage reissue" and "vintage-inspired" watches, but it wasn't always this way. The Longines Legend Diver has been around since 2007 and is still one of the most attractive heritage dive watches on the market. In this video, we'll do a complete review of the Longines Legend Diver Date to see how it stacks up in the now-crowded retro dive watch space.

    I can not reply neutral, here a fanboy of the brand. There is no one better. I own two Longines watches and i will not hesitate to get a third one. Do not forget the brand was in 1833 alive and still exist today. Kings of time. ⏱

      I agree. Own 2 as well and looking in a 3rd, this or the Spirit, have the Hyrdroconquest and VHP GMT. Amazing timepieces, superb quality, for the price compared to others and the history.

      @@user-rm2lz1pq4e I have the conquest vhp gmt also. Others say the dial is superb.
      Do you want a better finished watch? Only check Omega, and discover that between and under the lugs are well polished.
      No spot is forgotten, typical Omega. Ok, it’s another price range, albeit no patek philippe level. Co-Axial movement technology.

      @@tarquesh I looked at Omega and Tudor (though Ive been considering the 1926 since it's in the same price range as Longines) as well, like Longines better and the finish is amazing, comparable to the other 2 if not better in my humble opinion. The Conquest VHP GMT so far is better than the reviews and video led me to believe, such a wonderful timepiece, the technology and is the perfect travel watch.

    This watch is absolutely beautiful. IMO its the best vintage inspired dive watch you can get, I even prefer it to the Black Bay (which I own). It's so unique and stunning, and could even be used as a dress watch. It kind of reminds me a little bit of a Speedmaster as well at first glance, especially on a brown leather strap.

    Longines, is my favorite watch brand. I own seven different Longines watches in my collection. As an avid Scuba Diver, I own a Longines HydroConquest Dive Watch which I love. I do not own a Longines Legend Diver watch at this time. I do love the design, however as an environmental Scuba Diver, ocean explorer, and as a scientist concerned about the environment and overfishing of our oceans, I would like to see Longines make a redesign change on the elegant Diver image on the caseback of the watch. I would like to see the harpoon removed from the diver’s hands and/or a new design of a more environmentally friendly diver on the caseback. So the diver does not appear to enter the ocean as a hunter, ready to hunt and kill aquatic life, but to appear as a diver entering the underwater world to explore the beauty of the natural environment and be respectful of all the fish living in their natural habitat. I have previously written Longines’s management and product development leader with this suggestion , even provided sketches as examples of a potential redesign of an environmentally-friendly looking diver. But, have never heard back. I love Longines, and as a Scuba Diver and ocean environmentalist, I hope one day Longines would consider my suggestion. I believe it would give the Longines Legend Diver watch a new and attractive look, and at the same time position Longines as a Dive Watch company concerned about the preservation of natural aquatic life in our oceans and waters of our planet. I would be happy to talk with someone from the company to further explain and discuss this topic. I have some thoughts to share regarding this.

    Hi Teddy, I am a new subscriber and am really glad I found you. I love your passion for watches and have enjoyed seeing many of the posted videos. I was, however, looking for a video recapping the thinnest watches and I did not find one. Maybe I missed it. My father instilled a passion in me for thin watches. He owned a beautiful Omega watch which he called his wafer watch. Unfortunately, my brother got it after my father died. Anyway, if you haven't done thin watch recap, I would really enjoy seeing your take on it. Thank you again for a great channel. Juan Toro

    Good vid as usual and nice reference to the original Compressor cases, though I have noticed that a lot of youtube and other commentators tend towards looking back over only the last ten or fifteen years. Maybe it's an age thing. 😃 The whole hankering back thing has been going on for much longer. Longines were producing vintage reissues in the 90's. Various Longines Weems/Lindbergh and various iterations of Trench watches too. They weren't the only ones, but they were among the first. Rolex would be an exception, though mainly because they've barely changed their designs in the last 50 plus years.

I bought it with the bracelet and I have pretty hairy arms and so far my hairs are intact hehe. The bracelet is super comfortable, it ajusts perfectly to the wrist and, in the case of this 36mm model, the watch feels light!
    I was not sure if I would buy the 42 or the 36 and I can tell that I am very happy that I have chosen the 36 version, it wears like a 38 and the lugs don't over hang. Hi Teddy, great video! Does the mesh strap taper at the buckle at all? It looks as though there is no taper to the bracelet. Thanks

    Not really a fan of that type of bracelet, but definitely fits this watch and definitely would use it.

    Great video. Teddy ;-) May I ask: Whats the difference between this Longines and the Helson Hammehead 42? They look very much the same - but the price is much lower on the Hammerhead.

    I bought one almost 9 years ago, it still look super stunning. I am planning to change its strap, do you think the metal bracelet is the pick?

  • @None-ez6ux

    I have it and it is strap monster. It can be utilitarian, casual or dressy depending on your mood. The black strap that comes with the watch is a bit underwhelming, so, one more reason to try multiple combinations.

    Hey Teddy! 👋 Love your vids! I know this might sound like a crazy idea but are you able to get your hands on a Casio MR-G or MT-G to make a review?

    Love the design. This is the rare case where an homage may be better than the original. If you can stomach an homage the Helson Hammerhead is compelling.

      If you can find one! The original is a rarity, and the new version doesn't have the internal bezel.

    The LLD is one of the most gorgeous vintage inspired/reissue pieces ever made. But the watch is ruined by those gigantic lugs, which make this watch wear like a 44mm (which is why I ended up having to sell mine). Longines would sell truckloads of these if they brought down the case size and shortened those ridiculous lugs. The 36mm model is not an alternative; it wears too small and uses the terrible ETA2000 movement

    • @magnusbell5410
      @magnusbell5410 2 роки тому +2

      fyi, according to their website, the 36mm now houses an L592 movement.

    Love the LLD. Any upcoming thoughts on the new Hamilton Mechanical Chrono with no date? I was hoping it would be much more slimmer than it is compared to the automatic

    • @hambone988ubet
      @hambone988ubet 3 роки тому

      Yes I thought so as well. I am still glad though for a hand wind Chrono. Not a lot of them out there and are even thicker (think Sinn automatics) and I already have a Speedmaster which is the gold standard in my mind.

    Such a great watch just wish the size was between 39-40 mm. Longines is making fantastic re editions , however they need to get the size right .

    In a recent visit to Spain I saw a Legend special edition for Spain of 161 units. It came with green face and strap in leather. Very elegant. Should it be a good purchase?
