Hopefully it will be possible to connect weather stations and soil sensors to HomeKit for programming dependencies. I only want to water when it is not raining or going to rain and watering must be stopped when the plants have enough water (i’m thinking of a parrot flowerpower like sensor for HomeKit)
I'd much prefer to have a local weather monitor as Apple's HomeKit API doesn't allow for external weather info to be pulled in, so clever options like having the system know when not to activate because rain was forecast cannot be done, but perhaps could be if the device knew itself, as well as being more accurate.
It should have a turbine connected to a capacitor that charges the batteries. Whenever water flows through the unit, the batteries get charged. That way there'd be enough power for a signal that is actually strong enough to connect to your home router. As it stands it doesn't get a signal despite being within 10 meters of my MESH router setup.
Can you use this just with the eve app without having a home hub setup? I want to use this at a house in a different state. We have internet there just no HomeKit hub. Thanks
Wish you had covered child lock I read was on this system; My garden is in a rented but public space and I have had so many issues with folks changing my settings on current system. How does this system solve that problem?
Great vid....I'm going to be starting my new law tomorrow and I am looking for a new water in controller all I want to do is water 7-days a week from 9 a.m till 1.00pm then 5.00pm till 9.00pm so the lawn would be watered every 4 hours for 10 minute intervals is this possible to do on this?? And also does it work over a 4G connection?? Thanks
I've run into the weird quirks of homekit with my hue motion sensor's temperature sensor and the ihome smart sensor too. I can totally program within their own app but not directly in the Home app. Once I program in an external app the automations show up in the Home app oddly. You should see if IFTTT will let you shut off the water if it starts to rain.
It was designed to withstand the elements. Including protection against UV rays and fading, as well as the rain. I certainly wouldn't submerge it, but it should be able to withstand any outside weather.
They replied today, here is what they told me: “I was waiting for confirmation from our developers for differences between Eve Aqua and Eve Weather, whose operating temperature is -18°C - 55°C. For Eve Aqua, the maximum tested temperature was 60°C.”
From what I understand. yes as long as it is in wi-fi range. You can set it up on a schedule and then use it out of range, such as down at the end of a long garden, and it will still run the schedule/settings but then due to being out of range, you couldn’t then toggle on/off, on the fly. However, if it is in range of your wi-fi then you wouldn’t be able to toggle watering on and off when you are out of your home. Hope this helps you or others with the same question, seeing as your comment was 3 years ago.
I think the aqua is totally unnecessary. Apparently it costs €100 here in Austria. And it doesn’t serve any purpose tbh. To see how much water your sprinkler consumes? Great, you now know how much that sprinkler costs running. What does it matter? Are you gonna stop watering your plants, the grass or wash your car? Not really, no. So you just get the “convenience” of turning your sprinkler on with your phone from inside the house (for which you need a hub, therefore even more money). Most sprinklers have timers too. For other stuff like watering the plants you need to be outside anyway so no real benefit there. So you just spent €200 just to see some graphs on your phone. Congrats! 🎉
It's supposed to automate watering your garden. IE- ours is connected to a sprinkler system, and turns on morning and night. Otherwise I'd forget to either water the plants, or turn the sprinkler off at night. It does that.
Expensive software button to turn on the water. Can’t use it in Homekit scenes or HomeKit automations, just a button. Schedules must be created in the Eve app and are both limited and hard to find. Doesn’t work with Alexa or Google Home.
I thought it was pretty easy to control in the Eve app. But once you have a schedule, you’re good. Plus control from Siri or Shortcuts which is fairly robust! And the lack of Alexa support is literally a feature. Users that care about privacy will only buy products that don’t support Alexa
haha you said hopefully the homekit limitations are caused by elgato not apple, actually i think if it was depending on elgato it would already be fixed, with apple it’s much more problematic
i really missed this kind of video from apple insider... after the departure of Max tech, the feelings of this channel changed too much that I rather stick with max tech... i am sorry but video from this channel lately is less appealing to me. I am sorry for that...
Your lucky for batteries to last one week on this thing, even if you only automate it to run the water once a week. Great concept but this thing requires some kind of solar charger for it to be worth the purchase. Big FAIL for now!!!
O.K. So in order to buy one of these I need to first buy a cell phone. Is this selling cell phones or a remote on off water valve? Water on push a button. Water off push a button. You need a complex cell app to do that? Surely a small key chain signal device is all that is needed. This is selling complexity, not simplicity and ease.
It should have the ability to charge the batteries using the water flow 💁🏼
Genius. That was my thought. Little magnetic turbine.
They could put solar panels on it
See my profile and see smart wifi watering controller! it is different from others!
If I can set up a motion sensor to activate the aqua to turn on a sprinkler to scare away cats I would certainly buy this !
Being Bluetooth, isn't the range going to be limited? Surely it needs to have Wi-Fi?
Hopefully it will be possible to connect weather stations and soil sensors to HomeKit for programming dependencies. I only want to water when it is not raining or going to rain and watering must be stopped when the plants have enough water (i’m thinking of a parrot flowerpower like sensor for HomeKit)
Isn’t it kind of a no-brainer that this should be solar powered?
Good thought! Maybe V2?
I'd much prefer to have a local weather monitor as Apple's HomeKit API doesn't allow for external weather info to be pulled in, so clever options like having the system know when not to activate because rain was forecast cannot be done, but perhaps could be if the device knew itself, as well as being more accurate.

Can you connect this to a shower ?
Can you change the icon to show as sprinklers or something else ?
Wish you had covered child lock I read was on this system; My garden is in a rented but public space and I have had so many issues with folks changing my settings on current system. How does this system solve that problem?
It would be possible to add an Elgato weather station and set a trigger to end irrigation when start raining?
Giuliano Di Pilla It’s a smart device, it should be able to get weather forecasts from the internet. Biggest oversight with this product.
John Harman Unfortunately I don’t think it could do it. If you have other info please don’t esitate to let me know. Thank u.
from the capturing card company?
Yes, but they have a TON of HomeKit gear. They make some of the best on the market.
The DVB-T company?
Come on...

Does it want to turn on Wifi at home all the time to connect with my cellphone?
Why it needs batteries if it can generate enough power feim waterflow to charge itself

You would think it would have a water motor so when the water goes through it it makes it’s own charge
Doesn’t work with Siri. Apple support unable to resolve. Eve support takes 1-2 days! returned device.
What is the weather resistance...?
It was designed to withstand the elements. Including protection against UV rays and fading, as well as the rain. I certainly wouldn't submerge it, but it should be able to withstand any outside weather.
So we can’t use it under a 50 degrees temperature in the GCC
I have contacted the company to check the operating temperature of the device. Hopefully, it can withstand our summers.

From where did you get the “green“ homekit wallpaper? I have only the red one. 🤔
If i'm out of my home, it work by wi-fi like a camera?
From what I understand. yes as long as it is in wi-fi range. How did you get the device? Is this a sponsored video or you bought it yourself?
Wow 😯 didn’t even know this HomeKit product existed and my homes al HomeKit 😂🤦🏻♂️
Yes, it was one of the unexpected categories that Apple made available from iOS11

There’s always one like you a hater.
what about android compatability?

They should make something like this for a shower head 🚿!!!
They do! Not Elgato, but Koehler does!
See my profile and see smart wifi watering controller! it is different from others!
All that hiding of the HomeKit code.....I still saw it. Lol
He should have hidden the support code, that can be used by anybody, but the product code not. I think it's muscle memory.

Love the way we are giving control of our life to governements and hackers.
What the fuck:') No we're not. If you for some reason believe this conspiracy, don't buy the product.
