Thanks Michael! Definitely! It took me a bit to really jump into it, but I’m loving how how I can fit so much into a fairly simple shortcut. The real trick here is to get the outcome you want without making it so complicated that you don’t understand what it’s doing anymore. Hoping this gives you some inspiration to draw from!
@@Homekitgeek I bet! I couldn’t agree more with everything you’ve said! I love how conditional this is, so it’ll not run if it’s not needed. We’re all water metred in the UK so a sprinkler system of any degree would cost a fortune 😂
LOL Yeah we’re metered as well. Plus there are fines of involved... Honestly I’d probably be doing something like this anyway so I can let the water soak in the ground overnight instead of evaporating during the hot days. The only thing I may add to this is using the Eve Weather if I can to get hyper-local weather conditions. Really hoping that gets exposed as that would let this run 100% local which is where I’d love to be.
@@Homekitgeek how do you afford the water bill 😂 I wondered why you were doing it on a night, great choice I never even thought of! Oh the eve weather is such a good idea! I’ve debated about using one then just thought naaa I’ll just use apple weather info, it’s close enough for me! I’d love to see a video of it and what you do with it when/if you do it
@@michaelthompson657 🤣 I’m guessing it’s a lot cheaper than elsewhere in the world. Canada does have a water , it’s just the local treatment plants don’t have the capacity when everyone’s watering there lawns all day long. Affordable and worth it for the green grass in the backyard. Definitely will be updating once I get a chance to dig into the Eve Weather and see what the possibilities are.
Thanks Filipe! Indeed I do have a phone just for shortcuts, but it’s not involved in the automation shown in this video.this is all completed using the Convert to Shortcut automation feature in Apple HomeKit. This should be achievable by anyone with a HomeHub running newest code and the appropriate accessories. Make sense?
Thanks Brad! Loved your vid on the Aqua as well! Everyone should definitely check it out! Let me know if the shortcut works for you or if you need any thing!
Hi Chris, when I add new home automation, after selecting a time, I can only select a scene or accessory to automate, I can't select shortcuts in there, how did you do that (your video time code 8:59)?
hey H Zheng! You lo need to be on a recent version of iOS (video was recorded with 14.5 I believe). If at the right version of code, just scroll all the way to the bottom of the list of scenes and accessories and you should see an option that says “convert to shortcut”. Hope this helps!
Hey Chris, I went to your website and I didn't see anything other than the video. I would love to see the screen captures you mentioned so I can try and replicate this shortcut to meet my needs.
Hey Frederick! Thanks for letting me know! I’ll take a look and figure out what’s going wrong. Probably an issue with publishing the new page or something silly. Wordpress is painful sometimes. Appreciate your patience!
Hey Frederick, I figured out what went wrong. Stupid user trick on my side. I've setup a page where my plan is to collect these automations. The first post from this video is there. If you have any question feel free to reach out here on on twitter. Happy automating! homekitgeek.com/automations/
It’s possible to close the eve aqua when it doesn’t detect water I’m trying to turn on a valve when there’s no water (sometimes we have water problem where I live)
Wow. That sucks…. I can confirm that I was able to get it to work with Siri and can activate the sprinkler by voice. Really sorry you had issues with it!
Wow - the art of lawn watering ! Thank you for great ideas and inspiration Chris.
LOL My pleasure! I DID say on Twitter I had some ideas around this one. :)
You certainly did ! 👍
Just managed to watch this, I LOVE the versatility of convert to shortcuts!

Like always really good. Chris but you have an iphone in your house just for shortcuts right?

Good stuffChris. This much better than what I came up with when I reviewed it back when. Thanks for the mention bro!
You're always an inspiration brother! Happy to be able to send some people in your direction!

Utterly brilliant!! Thanks Chris, looking to get the Eve Aqua, so this will be very handy. Thank you.
Thanks Splums! I was also able to get the shortcut documented with screen captures on my blog which might help to recreate it! Enjoy the new toys!
@@Homekitgeek heading right to your blog as we speak. Again, thanks Chris!!
If I’m not at home when the Eve is automated to turn on, will it still turn on?
bro whats that you have on top of your window, please tell me i want something like that

Hello! Can you please share this shortcut?
Doesn’t work with Siri. Apple support unable to resolve. Eve support takes 1-2 days!! No support phone number. Returned product.

Great !! Video
Really appreciate that! Thanks!
