AKA amputee competes in the Masters Worlds Rowing Competition

Fred Southwick AKA competes in Masters World Rowing Competition with Don Davis in a double with the help of Gainesville Area Rowing team members Jacob, Jen, Kelly, Carla and Scott. He is using a Martin Bionics open socket allowing a fuller range of motion and a more effective rowing stroke. Video by Colton Sikes of Martin Bionics. And Fred thanks Kyra Ketnick of Hanger Prosthetics who created the hinge leg and shoe horn that have allowed him to generate force with his residual limb and compete against Masters rowers with two legs. Don and Fred came in 4th out of 6 competitors in the double, and Fred came in 9th out of 10 in his singles race. He didn't come in last and that was his goal.
