Your work always amazes me! You took and ugly duckling and turned it into a swan! Beautiful, AND you showed us how with very little we can do big things!
Thank you so much, Donna! Your comment makes me so happy- I love the “do what you can with what you have” mentality. I’m so glad that is coming through.
Thank you! Yeah, this was definitely out of my comfort zone in being for a 10 year old girl, but the techniques work for any palette. I was hoping people could use them and apply them to a more adult finish.
Part of the reason I like your channel so much is your positive attitude. I've had 'those' types of projects too! They give me a temporary case of Tourette Syndrome. You seem to just take it all in stride. Nice job on this piece and I'm glad you made some little girl happy! :) PS - I see 5K subscribers in your future . . .
Haha, temporary Tourette Syndrome! I love it. Yeah, that piece has been close to the burn pile a few times. 😂 I’m hopeful at this point that it will turn out. And I know! So so close!!!!
Haha, yeah- my folks really love when I come to visit and take over their house 😂 They’re like- oh, it’s her AGAIN?! But they can’t be too mad as they’re the ones who helped create a monster. PS- I Loved your Halloween costumes! I have one bar of reception out here and IG doesn’t let me do anything so I couldn’t comment.
@@elegantupgrades hmmm, but I bet they aren't too mad when it's time to makeover one (or more) of their pieces 🤔😆 Ahhh thank you so much! We had a blast!
I have never commented before but I absolutely love watching your videos, I have learned a lot and look forward to them every time you do beautiful work
I just love the beautiful glamorous simplicity of this. 💜 I love your attention to detail & how every piece you create is just lovely & is definitely your art work creation. You’ve created a beautiful elegant gorgeous piece that can grow with a little in all stages of life
Thanks, Candace! I got lucky with the knobs! They remind me of Celtic knots. I thought they were really cool- and a bonus I didn’t have to get new ones.
Nice Job Taryn! Love the way the stripes are subdued instead of "in your face". Also love the cloudy look and the one drawer done in fabric. We'll have to give this a try (with multiple coats of poly)😀😀
What a fun and funky piece for a young girl! I really love your Rub’n’Buff gold stripes. They’re so pretty! How lovely to continue to create, even when you’re away from your studio! Even without all your stuff, you still create wonderful one-of-a kind furniture art!🌸
Thank you, Deborah! My parents are very kind in letting me have a space to work in while I visit. They just assume I’ll take over their house when I arrive 😂
Thank you, Emer! I’ve just been wanting to do a fabric video for a while- and what better time is there than when I’m trying to step away from another project 😂
It turned out just beautiful ❤️. I love how each layer has given this dresser a lot of dimension and took away from just being flat. Everyone of your pieces tell a story. Just beautiful. Ty for sharing!💗👍
I waqs really looking forward to watching this particular video. I have not had great luck with fabric decoupage and I knew you would do it right. Thanks for the clarifications. I now know what I did wrong.
@@elegantupgrades The friend I did it for lived there for several years, so I’m not sure what happened after that. At that point, it was fine. It wasn’t a huge wall, but it was it the bathroom. I can’t even remember what I used for adhesion. It was when ferns and wicker were the “in thing”, and the fabric, I believe, was a nice stable Waverly with a fern leaf pattern. I’ve also wallpapered numerous ceilings (all with embossed papers). I’m 68 years old now…those days are fun to remember!
It's such a funky beautiful piece. The stripes, the fabric the color blending makes this dresser look so beautiful. I look forward to watching such creativity take place with every video you produce. You always make the best of everything.
Thank you! This ones was a bit out of my comfort zone as I was trying to keep it youthful for the 10 year old it was going to. Thankfully she loves it 😅. But it’s good for me to not always do what I want 😂
I like it... I did this once on a tiny little phone table with a tiny drawer, to small for any real purpose, these days, but really cute...So I put down the fabric then created a Tic Tac Toe grid with ribbon over the fabric, cut out some X's and O's out of Sculpey clay, to keep in the drawer and it has sat out on their patio between their rocking chairs for 12 yrs, and still looks new.. so if you think the fabric isn't durable? it truly is.. just a note..
Wow!!! How clever of you!!! I love that it’s actually functional as a game. I kind of want to make one now and have coffee and play tic tac toe with Lucas.
Taryn what a nice surprise putting the fabric on the drawer . I have got to try this. I always love your strips just a little something something! I got the puddy but seemed to have missed the decouage? Thank you for bringing us a surprise each week.
I’m so glad you liked the video, Patricia! Yes, there are so many options of fabric that help me get inspired when I’m trying to figure out where a piece is going to go. And yes, I LOVE me some stripes!
I just Love this Piece Taryn 🥰....It Reminds me of like an old worldie Gatsby princess vibe. ..Just absolutely Lovely!! You're the Best and I'm So Happy that you're almost at 5K...wow😊👍❣️🎃🎃..Have a Safe and happy Halloween with your little guy! Stay blessed honey
@@elegantupgrades yes I did ...did you see all the different costumes my youngest grandbaby wore ...her momma is so creative ❣️❣️🎃..I'm glad you had an amazing time! ❣️
It looks beautiful. It's very tempting to do something like that, but I'm not sure I could do it as well as you did. That fabric does look like it was made for that dresser. Such skills.
Oh my dear....you’ve done it again❣️ Taught me something new....fabric...love the Smokey colors🙌🏻🌟 You are a JOY to watch...always look forward to your videos! Question: if I have not yet done decoupage....what would you suggest I start with? (Even for practice) seems as though there are so many things you could use....help me out my friend....as always thank you for sharing....praying for that 5 k milestone for you...hugs, 😊kim
Hey Kim! It’s so fun to have double comments from you- I feel like it’s a conversation. Anyways, I always say things “depend”. Fabric is easy because it doesn’t rip or tear and it’s repositionable, but I wouldn’t put it anywhere. I’d say the easiest to start with would be wallpaper. It’s very durable, easy to cut, and there are a ton of options.
I'm.looking around my house trying to figure out what I can decoupage! Haven't found anything but an old stool. You make it look so easy! Love the rub n buff to. Did you put a sealer over that or leave it as is? This turned out very cute!
Haha! A stool it is then! And it really is so easy with the fabric. In this case I didn’t seal the Rub n Buff- it is really durable on its own and this was kind of a messy finish with it so it will only look better the more wear it gets. But if I was doing a clean finish with it that would perhaps be touched a lot, I would have sealed it then.
Hey Taryn, once again nice outcome. It’s good to have a little something on the side to deter us from THAT project we need to take a break from (what is it btw, you planning on sharing?). I have never thought to put fabric on a dresser, who knew it would turn out so fun, great idea/tutorial, thanks 😊
Ugh!!! THAT project is still in the works- sigh. I’m hoping to have it finished for next week’s video. I’ve finished the hardest part now so its less likely that I will smash it to bits before I finish it 😂 Thank you, Lorraine!
@@elegantupgrades What’s life without a few challenges haha; The molding, the making, the pressing, the shaping of a mighty woman I say. I think it takes the same amount of courage to destroy a thing that needs to go, as it does to see it through. You’ve got this 👩🏼🎨🦹🏼♀️
If you mean before you decoupage, you can absolutely wash it. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. It just depends on the fabric or what I’m doing with it. If you mean after- it’s sealed with poly so it can be wiped down.
