You need layers because we have all four seasons in one day, boots in the morning and sandals in the evening, an umbrella would be useful too. Sending love from Kent, England xx
have fun stitching in a castle in England! I've only ever heard good things about that school. also i've been meaning to make some pants for myself and i might be a bit more inspired now!
I googled what palazzo pants are and realized that they're exactly what I want to make for a few days now. Guess now I know how they're called I have to make them! And even though I know from instagram that you're on your trip now and that there probably won't be any weeks without a film, now that you've said you need a break and said your goodbyes, I felt a little sad and lonely. Well, it seems I really like your videos!
I love how fluent and authentic your videos are. Thanks for sharing all these observations, I think it's so important to know these things about oneself. Accepting and working with them then is sometimes hard to accept, you being so open about it really encouraging 💙
I got my hair cut shorter once, and I started to lose my equilibrium. I understand I have an allergy causing an inner ear problem, but I believe my heavy hair was holding me up.
Gotta love Fridays, the workweek is over and Charlie posts a new video 🤩 As for the question from the intro, I’m not much of a traveller, but I’d like to visit the Balkans one day to tour all the Soviet-era Spomenik monuments (cause I’m a sucker for history, brutalism and abandoned places) 😅
My favorite place to visit is the Danish west coast. Every time I get there it feels like coming home. But in second place is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I've been there in the 90s when the reef was still alive and it was breathtakingly beautiful. I would really like to visit the coast of Italy. I've visited the Mediterranean Sea in Greece several times. Plus I've visited Italy several times, but only in the north: Milano, Turino, Monte Rosa, Domodossola, Gran Paradiso, Merano, Bolzano, Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Lugano, Lago di Garda,... I don't know why but I love the sea and I don't like the mountains. I don't hate them, their existence is okay with me, but I don't want to be there. It took me years to realize that. This year I will visit Denmark, again, but next year I will visit the Italian coast. Finally!
That brown top with the pants plus a “heavier” looking dark brown wedge or sandals would be just so perfect and adorable. Have fun on your break and vacation! You deserve it! I’m going on my first vacation in a year and a half away from work and it is a partial “working vacation”. I understand the feeling totally.
omg the skirt fabric is SO PRETTY!!! And the pants are adorable!!! LOVE the brown top with the pants!! The dark colour with the light coloured pants give a really nice balanced look (imo)
I really loved what you said about breaking everything down into steps. I personally find that very helpful/motivating, to sit down and make a list of every single step I need to do in a project. My sewing time has dropped so much since I had kids (thankfully, they're getting old enough now that it's starting to get easier to fit it in again), and sometimes I just really need that mental benchmark of knowing that I just need to complete this step, and then I'm at a good stopping point and can set it aside. It still takes me forever to finish any project that's more than absolutely basic, but I'll get there. It's been fun to follow your England adventures on Instagram!
As someone who shares the “I don’t like to plan more than 2 weeks ahead” mentality, I just have one recommendation: don’t make too many Dutch friends. In the Netherlands, you often have to reserve your friends’ time 3-6 weeks ahead of time, even if they live within a radius of 20 miles from you 😂
I'm in England. It's currently in the 50s and it's looking like rain. Again. Yes, it typically doesn't go over 80 in the peak of summer, and 80 isn't common. Usually 70ish is normal for the "hot days." Ftr , I'm American, so know and understand fully the differencs. You have to remember, England is on the same kind of longitude as mid-Canada! 😂 I know I didn't realise just HOW NORTHERLY England was until I got here. 😂 I knew it was further north, but I figured it was like as far North as New York or maybe even Maine. No. NO! LOL The Met office is suggesting we're getting another week of summer soon, but they can say that for weeks without it happening. As long as you have a jacket or sweater to throw over, you'll be ok. Raincoat is obviously a good idea. Waterproof footwear greatly encouraged.
I was thinking whilst watching this, will they look good with a raincoat and wellingtons. Here in the UK, we have had rain most days this July and the temperature has not reached 20°. I do hope you bring some sunshine with you. Enjoy your travels
Weather update from Europe: very cold and very wet. It's summer, it should be about 30 degrees Celsius here now, today it's 15 degrees and it's raining. In other words, from spring to autumn. Summer, never heard of it, at least not this year.
Stockholm come up to 26 today but it been a few weeks way colder then it should be. My allotment is not like it and things grows slow due to way to cold for the season. If 20 degrees is the hottests day all summer me think they lie more about that part or it would been in the worlds news they never really got summer temperaturs all summer
Small town in Western Germany, 16°C and pouring rain up to liters per square meter. Jep. Nice German summer this year... 😪😅 Last year this time ? 35°C for weeks, not a single raindrop
@AnniCarlsson it's actually pretty normal for the (especially northern) UK to just not even hit 25 during el niño and la niña years, it's part of the reason we can't grow all our own food. I'm in London, we did hit 28 in May, that probably the hottest out week be this year. We haven't hit 25 again this year.
This video was not only a sewing inspiration, but also pinpointed a few of the struggles I couldn't identify. Been trying to recharge the ol' noggin, but a change in routine is exactly what is needed. Love your content. Keep being you!❤
From England: this year we have a cold summer so please bring jumpers as well .... and waterproof. I love the clothes! I hope you will enjoy your holiday.
As long as you also pack a light sweater and a couple of plain t-shirts to layer with same (would suggest a brown that would complement both palazzo and skirt), you will be ok. I'm an East coast US girl who lived in England during a "heat wave" (temps in the 90s - being from DC, no humidity UK in the 90s was a breeze!); I needed a sweater in the evenings. That high up on the ol' globe means it's cooler naturally, despite the temperature readings. And yes, it can go from 90s to 60s, dry to damp, etc., in a blink, so better to be prepared with practical layers that you can...layer, as needed! Safe travels!
Love those fabrics and what you made from them Charlie. England is wet and breezy at min. Hope you have a Wonderful time on the course in London and in whatever else you decide to do here in UK. Sending love from Yorkshire, England
I'm currently packing for a train trip to go see my aunt and uncle for a week. Figuring out which luggage to use and what to pack was really stressful until I realized I had 1 more suitcase in my luggage allotment. Now I'm just excited about the trip.
Planning anything 3-4 months in advance is such a crazy idea in my mind lol. I travel constantly for work and am in the habit of booking hotels within an hour of showing up at them 😅
Fluidity is good - I wasn't planning on doing ANY sewing at all this summer while I finish my thesis. But then I saw a post on the 18th century sewing Facebook page, et voila, I'm sewing a new dress out of impulse fabric I bought last year! I don't know why I even make a sewing plan for the year, I tend to just do whatever I want after February!😅
I love both outfits and I think those Palazzo pants can take you anywhere in Europe. You can go into historic churches if you wear the little over top, you can be comfortable wherever you go and you don’t have to shave your legs. Peak life.
Your comments/advice from @12:30 to @15:15 resonate SO much and holy moley, I cannot thankyou enough for putting this into words. I'm currently working on a MASSIVE costume, but I finished embroidering ONE sleeve, and am now having lunch!! ... before doing the other sleeve. Your videos are so good to have on in the background while I sew, I love the honest, real and healthy encouragement and realistic expectations for yourself (and by extension, me)
Fridays are for my favorite Charlie videos! I hope you had a lovely trip and that the class went well! I also hope you got TONS of compliments on your stunningly lovely outfits! You knocked it out of the park with these 💜 I totally get needing to take a break. I get overwhelmed and burnt out quite easily if I get settled into a too-strict routine, even if it's with things I love doing. You're 100% deserving of a break from the norm!
Sewing a whole edge without stopping is SO satisfying! The green skirt's white bits and pale orange flowers might go well with the paler of the pink shirts. Your dog is a friendly little marshmallow :)
As an English person, I feel the need to tell you that this summer has been SO COLD even by our standards. Its a good day if it gets above 18 degrees c. (Also if you are going to Chatsworth, please go to Haddon Hall - down the road and amazing).
I'm working on an A-line dress, 2 patchwork skirts (with the adjustable sides) and I'm trying to get all these done around a full-time job, traveling for work, a wedding and I'm batching the work! It's gonna be fun!!
This Summer sucks, it feels more like spring with April weather thrown in. I am in the UK on the Isle of Wight. LOVE your channel, you always make me smile.
100% with you on the last minute planning habit! But your mention of Chatsworth reminded me I saw in the news it'll be closed to the public 22-26 July. Just a heads up for if that's when you are this very chilly side of the pond! 😅
Well, you know what they say - a change is as good as a break! Also, that reversible top is brilliant, and I need to make one for myself for dance classes...
Being hugged by my outfit was why I love corsets so much (the real-real ones, with steel boning and all that stuff). My scrambled interoception is more put together in them
I loved this video. It was fun to just 'craft & chat' as I sat at my desk knitting another Emotional Support Chicken. You've made the split-side skirt so many times, that I didn't mind the whirlwind making; I know I can just go back to old videos for a 'tutorial'. Enjoy England!
I think this is the first video that I've watched and been compelled to comment... and the first video I've watched with the closed captioning on... which is awesome by the way! It really sounds like you are writing the captions, and they are cute and funny and lovely. Thank you for being so inspiring and entertaining, and giving lovely extra joy to people who use the captions. Here's hoping you are having the greatest 'break' in England.
Bring layers, many layerssssss. Cause it will be cold and then you move and realise it’s humid af and you’re sweating profusely. So it’s good to have flaxibility
I adore the palazzo pants! And I'm always a fan of your split side skirts. I wish I had the confidence to try to make both. My biggest hurdle is picking appropriate fabric.
I don't know if you watch your old videos' comments, so I thought I would put a comment here. I found you from shorts on UA-cam. Also they sent me to your fabric sheets comparison video. Yeah this video was great. So appreciate the way you mentioned pacing out a project. I always struggle with that! No suprise because favorite color is pink but that was my favorite one of the bunch. The pants are such a great piece for your frame! I loooove how they fit you. The top looks so good. The cardigan with it just ugh! Chefs kiss. What a perfectly timed video! I tried making the one-cut romper thing from a couple weeks ago, but I didn't like how it turned out on me. Instead, I was going to turn them into big pants. And here are big pants! I hope you know how much of an inspiration you are to so many of us, Charlie 💜❤️🧡
Oooh, I love both pink tops (alone or together) with the pants. Perfect. I hope you got to finish the dress, and am certain that at some point we'll be told! In the meantime I hope the trip is wonderful and that puppy found a puppy petter up to their very high standards.
When it's a pattern on pattern (imo) the way it works the best is when at least one of the pieces is the smallest and slimmest type, in your example I would make a scoop neck or v neck tank top out of the brown, or exactly what u did with the darker pink one.. I loveeee the top u tied in the back omg 😂 and the pants, they're the star of the show for me ❤
I don't even sew, but I came across your channel by accident and I ADORE YOU! You are hilarious and sweet and so real. I don't think I'm gonna start sewing, but I'm definitely gonna start watching you :)
Oh man, I relate to the planning ahead experience SO much! There’s the Now and the Not Now, and sometimes the Looming Appointment™️. I’ve had times when planning travel months in advance has been ok but these days it feels overwhelming to do all that.
Wow the fabrics they sent are So Beautiful 😍 the pants and the skirt are so cute and comfy looking ❤❤❤❤ so impressed with the whipping up of the tops. Enjoy your time across the pond!! Safe travels!
I need that white top!!! Also, the feather pants are perfect!! I would actually pair the white top with the feather pants! Which is crazy bc seeing the feather fabric at the beginning, I wasn't in love with it. But seeing the final product, I would totally make those and love those! ❤

@@nanettebromley8843 It did, and it still can't make up it's mind. South Yorkshire here.
1:01 “now I must” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 i love the way she says things she just brings me so much joy
Split-side skirts are 100% useful for travelling and particularly for flying. Great decision.
Also I love your CCs, thank you.
I love it when people mix patterns. So I am looking forward to seeing this
I got my hair cut shorter once, and I started to lose my equilibrium. I understand I have an allergy causing an inner ear problem, but I believe my heavy hair was holding me up.
Gotta love Fridays, the workweek is over and Charlie posts a new video 🤩
As for the question from the intro, I’m not much of a traveller, but I’d like to visit the Balkans one day to tour all the Soviet-era Spomenik monuments (cause I’m a sucker for history, brutalism and abandoned places) 😅
Finally!
Awww I’m Danish and this makes me so happy to hear 😻
@@maudline I wish I was Danish. I'm a trans Dane born in a German body. 🫤
The Palazzo pants with the pink top are perfection. The cut and color suit you so well!
I agree. Beautiful!
The dark colour with the light coloured pants give a really nice balanced look (imo)
fr I have mad pants envy!
This is one of my favorite style of videos. Chatting and project.
They’re all good, but my favorite look on you is the dark pink top with the pants, both with and without the sweater!
Me too ... I just love feathers on fabric 🎉
As a Brit, honestly you should never rule out snow. Our weather is just stupid!
No. NO! LOL
The Met office is suggesting we're getting another week of summer soon, but they can say that for weeks without it happening.
The fun you have sewing is what I enjoy about your videos! x
Weather update from Europe: very cold and very wet. It's summer, it should be about 30 degrees Celsius here now, today it's 15 degrees and it's raining. In other words, from spring to autumn. Summer, never heard of it, at least not this year.
It's 104f or 40c in idaho 😂 I want some rain
Stockholm come up to 26 today but it been a few weeks way colder then it should be. My allotment is not like it and things grows slow due to way to cold for the season. If 20 degrees is the hottests day all summer me think they lie more about that part or it would been in the worlds news they never really got summer temperaturs all summer
Small town in Western Germany, 16°C and pouring rain up to liters per square meter. Jep. Nice German summer this year... 😪😅
Last year this time ? 35°C for weeks, not a single raindrop
@AnniCarlsson it's actually pretty normal for the (especially northern) UK to just not even hit 25 during el niño and la niña years, it's part of the reason we can't grow all our own food. I'm in London, we did hit 28 in May, that probably the hottest out week be this year. We haven't hit 25 again this year.
30° Celsius is around 80° Fahrenheit...for those that are wondering.
This video was not only a sewing inspiration, but also pinpointed a few of the struggles I couldn't identify. Been trying to recharge the ol' noggin, but a change in routine is exactly what is needed.
Love your content. Keep being you!❤
Watching your videos is like hearing my inner dialogue out loud! I love it!
I travel constantly for work and am in the habit of booking hotels within an hour of showing up at them 😅
This year, it’s KEEPS RAINING!!!!!! It’s been raining 🌧️ for the last 18 months!
I really liked it all! My favorite is the pants with the brown top. 😍 Your instinct that the different patterns would look nice together was right.
Fluidity is good - I wasn't planning on doing ANY sewing at all this summer while I finish my thesis. But then I saw a post on the 18th century sewing Facebook page, et voila, I'm sewing a new dress out of impulse fabric I bought last year! I don't know why I even make a sewing plan for the year, I tend to just do whatever I want after February!😅
i really like the skirt. the pants and all 3 tops are great. the brown print goes very well with the colors and print.
Your videos are so good to have on in the background while I sew, I love the honest, real and healthy encouragement and realistic expectations for yourself (and by extension, me)
Oh no! The weather has been dreadful here. Bring jumpers/sweaters.
Love those palazzo pants ❤
Fridays are for my favorite Charlie videos! I hope you had a lovely trip and that the class went well! I also hope you got TONS of compliments on your stunningly lovely outfits! You knocked it out of the park with these 💜
I totally get needing to take a break.
It’s cold and wet in England at the moment, well Wimbledon’s on! Lol
The brown top with the pants is wonderful! And the green skirt is so swirly! Have a great time. Stay well.
I admit, I was absolutely in the "the brown is too busy" camp, but it turned out super cute!!
Enjoy your trip! Can't wait to see what you learn
The pattern on pattern combo with the pants and the top looks bomb!
I don't know if you watch your old videos' comments, so I thought I would put a comment here. I found you from shorts on UA-cam. Also they sent me to your fabric sheets comparison video. And I don't know how often I will watch, but I'm a UA-cam premium subscriber, so hopefully you'll get some income from this. I just have seen several of your videos and I really, really like what you're doing. And thank you for being so honest about UA-cam, I didn’t know all that. Thank you so much!
Chefs kiss. Thank you for continuing to make these videos it’s sooooo helpful to see you making things you’re really enjoy
The best part of a hobby is having fun and there are no rules. Have a great trip.
I "reward" myself with making stuff in between chores and momming 😅 hardly get those breaks but you are absolutely right. Breaking the process of making into different times helps and feels so much more optimistic to get things done... definitely has been keeping more productive
(I'm listening and watching this while cleaning my kitchen then I'm going to get back to animating a video that my teen has challenged me to do ❤)
What a perfectly timed video! I tried making the one-cut romper thing from a couple weeks ago, but I didn't like how it turned out on me. Instead, I was going to turn them into big pants. And here are big pants!
I hope you know how much of an inspiration you are to so many of us, Charlie 💜❤️🧡
Love the first one, loved the combo of the pants with the hot pink tank.
Oooh, I love both pink tops (alone or together) with the pants. Perfect. I hope you got to finish the dress, and am certain that at some point we'll be told! In the meantime I hope the trip is wonderful and that puppy found a puppy petter up to their very high standards.
Me when you showed the fabrics: no no no, I have enough fabric.
Also me, the fabric gremlin: NEED!
They're so pretty!!! 😍
Would you also be a book gremlin or did you pick that up from another source?
@@wartgin I picked that up from Elisabeth Wheatley!
When it's a pattern on pattern (imo) the way it works the best is when at least one of the pieces is the smallest and slimmest type, in your example I would make a scoop neck or v neck tank top out of the brown, or exactly what u did with the darker pink one.. I loveeee the top u tied in the back omg 😂 and the pants, they're the star of the show for me ❤
I love the reversible necklines! So smart!
I don't even sew, but I came across your channel by accident and I ADORE YOU! You are hilarious and sweet and so real. I don't think I'm gonna start sewing, but I'm definitely gonna start watching you :)
And that skirt is GORGEOUS!!!
Oh man, I relate to the planning ahead experience SO much! There’s the Now and the Not Now, and sometimes the Looming Appointment™️. I’ve had times when planning travel months in advance has been ok but these days it feels overwhelming to do all that.
Bahahahahah the Looming Appointment - my nightmare!
I loooooooooovveee the brown top with the pallazos *chef's kiss*
From Barbados those pants are in style I no a lady just got one of those pants nice I also can make clothes I always look for idea see you some more
Yeah, we've been in like, 60s-maybe 70s in London the last few weeks. And on-and-off rain. Hope you have a great trip 😊
You are amazing! Rest, refresh, and just breathe....enjoy every moment ! 🥰
Love love love the skirt and pants! I would love to learn how to make them both… my wardrobe would quadruple!!!!
By the way, my husband is from England. After 20 plus years I am still learning some English expressions!
Enjoy your trip - I am soooooooooo green with envy!
Safe travels!
And this summer the weather is sooooooo bad in the UK! I'm still wearing my vest.
You are my new favorite channel on UA-cam ❤ omg I can't believe I've been living under this rock for so long. Your personality is perfect and makes me smile and I just....I want a new rock to live under where I just sew and watch your videos.
Also OMG you have the absolute PERFECT body type 😍 I am so jealous of how perfect your body is.
You seem really chuffed with the way your latest creations turned out. Enjoy your change of scenery Charlie!
that skirt turned out so cute!
