I am in my BSN program as we speak. Fall 2025, I plan to start my MSN-PMHNP program. My end goal is to run my own private practice. I’ve started a binder that has all my ideas and research pertaining to the business. I’m pumped and highly motivated

That's great! They are quite different, you have to ask yourself: what type of patients you want to see and what type of visits do you want to do.

Thank you for your content! How long would you recommend that we practice under other practitioners until we start our own private practice?

You're welcome, thank YOU for following along! This is dependent on so many things- prior experience, what state you're in, your own comfortability. For new grads with dreams of starting a practice I say, start slow, it takes 6-12 months to even get a good amount of patients anyway so you could start your practice VERY slow and make sure you have a community of support or a collaborator and gain experience at a job in the meantime. Many people ask me what I did, I had 1.5 years of experience when I started building my practice. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Can you do this in every state? I saw a video where a Psych NP practices on her own in NY but I live in Pennsylvania and I don’t think you can do so in Pennsylvania.

Hi there! You can do it you may just need a supervising physician for your practice. I have a mentee in my group that lives in PA and owns her own perinatal mental health practice!

@@rootedpmhnpmentorshipthank you so much for replying 😅. Do you know if your friend in Pennsylvania would be willing to speak to me? Just for ten or fifteen minutes. I am trying to decide what path to take with schooling. Anyhow thank you so much for your reply.
