The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

I've been following tennis avidly for 30 years and can't recall anything like this, an explosion like this. For someone with so little tour experience, Emma plays like a top-5. Her court coverage, shot-making and mental toughness were those of a much older player with a few slams in the cabinet. She is a promoter's dream: beautiful, articulate and girl-next-door nice. She always looks like she is having the time of her life on and off the court. Blown away by this. I can't speak highly enough of Emma (or, for that matter, of Leylah, who is also here to stay).

I watched Emma from Round 2 of Wimbledon and thought she was a great young prospect but she has amazed us. Brilliant performances 👏🏼. Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977, the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. Next year is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee….dare we hope?

Congrats to Emma. She was the better player today but her beauty will be a curse for her tennis career. She'll be too distracted by her modelling career now and the British press live to destroy celebrities. Leylah, will take this lose and improve her game, she's a fighter and super hungry for a title now. Probably in the long run the best outcome despite the heart break of today's lose.

Utterly unique achievement that we'd be lucky to see only once in a lifetime! One for the Ages.
1st Unseeded Qualifier, either male or female, to EVER win a Grand Slam Final.
10 matches, 20 consecutive sets, no tiebreaks. Last teenage person to not drop a set at US Open was Serena Williams.
She's the best of British: young, multicultural and supremely talented! I can't wait to see what she does next. After her sad retirement at Wimbledon a few weeks ago, it shows her phenomenal mental fortitude to bounce back.
Emma & her opponent, Ms. Leylah Fernandez, have bright bright futures ahead of them in their sport!

So many spoiled and "miserable" tennis stars out there always complaining about something, but I guess you see how people are more when they lose than when they win, but I think Emma will remain honourable like nadal always is. And IMO she still has a lot to learn in tennis and can become even better, much better.

Tennis is a hard sport and the Tennis life can be a hard grind. Don't knock others until you've walked in their shoes. Most of your post is untrue anyway. Tennis players come from all walks of life. It takes more staying on top than getting there. So pressure affects every tennis player differently. Of course, tennis players are going to change with the different pressures & time. But pressure & time create diamonds. We all change in life its perfectly natural and unavoidable.

@@franklyspeaking4790 do i have to walk in every spoilt kids shoes to have an opinion on them? No and I 100% disagree its easier to get there than to stay on top, both are hard, but with 1000's and 1000's trying to get to the top, once you get there, you are then in a much smaller group to stay there.
Anyway, I hardly think my post was argumentative, but thats for the argument......
