@@Marvin-dg8vj yeah I recently found out that it's not even the first time she's won a tournament as qualifier lol (some 25k event in 2019 when she'd just turned 17, won 7 matches in a row)...and you know what? I'm still convinced that with better mental preparation that she would've easily beat Tomljanovic in straight sets, because you could see that she was hella nervous from the start yet it was still a pretty even match, everything was just too much too fast for her so it's understandable, but frankly she had the surprise factor to beat anyone, maybe even the world #1 Barty (who ended up winning it) who would've been next, Emma might've pulled it off with home support tax, Shelby Rodgers did...it's crazy to say but I'm not joking, she could seriously have been the first female wildcard ever to win Wimbledon... like you said she'd been doing bits for years at junior level, and was a standout in the 2020 UK Pro League (which she won, because of course she did lol) and the Battle of the Brits but she was still kinda under the radar it seems, cause i'm pretty sure that even some of the other players at Wimbledon didn't know who she was lol her opponents were clearly not ready for her...it's too bad cause I don't see another female Brit Wimbledon wildcard ever being as good as her so no one's breaking that record now lol... but oh well she made unprecedented history anyway at the US Open which no one's ever gonna match so whatever hahaha
I'm very impressed with Emma Raducanu as a player and in her poised, personable way of interacting with the media. She played powerful tennis, and was a lot of fun to watch in her combination of snapping groundstrokes and variety. She's a beautiful and personable young woman as well as a dynamic player, so I hope we see her in other tournaments moving forward. I don't want this to be a one-time occurrence in which she happened to catch fire for a brief period. Women's tennis needs the likes of Raducanu and Fernandez. Leyla acquitted herself very well on and off the court as well. My only quibble about Leyla is that I thought it was kind of classless to complain about the length of time taken to patch up Emma after she scraped her knee on the court.

The real and attractive tennis, is finaly back on the courts. The new generation, with the smile on their face, and with out yelling on court for each ball that has been hit . Bravo Emma, Bravo Leylah. Great job Canada for what you are doing there in tennis. Good job US Open.
Emma is a Brit...? Brits won the wheelchair mens doubles (winning all four grand slams this season and a brit was one part of both the winning mens and mixed doubles at this years US Open. Think leylah is awesome so well done to her and Canadian tennis, but I think the LTA in Britain needs some recognition and congratulations too. But I totally agree that womens tennis us looking very exciting thanks to these fantastic women and the teams supporting them :)
Congrats Canada for accepting immigrants. Her father in romanian, her mother chinese.

Beautiful, intelligent, humble, amazingly gifted tennis player. Representing England the right way. We all need be proud of this women! She is phenomenal
Starting to think Raducanu is an immortal entity 🧐. First Navratilova said she’s ‘been here before’ in the SF and now Emma says she ‘felt at home’ on Arthur Ashe..

I doubt it. This kind of performance can't be repeated and we don't know how she'll play being a set down. She's very technical in her game.

Emma is special in every way. She plays amazing, and has the mental stuff that makes champions.
You can't learn what Emma, Nadal and Djokovic have inside them. You can improve all areas but the true champions are born with something different!!
Her team says her mental strength is astonishing. She's 18; what will she be like when she's 28?
The positivity and intelligence just shine through!
Wow I remember when she made headlines playing in her first grand slam a few months ago and getting a wildcard, now she is a US Open champion. What Impresses me most with Raducanu is she is fearless with her shots and has a good service for such a young player. If Naomi and Barty do not pick up their games to become ruthless I can see players like Emma and Leylah winning more Grand Slams.
Sensational, both on and off court!! Professional, mature and humble and answering a barrage of interviewers after the match as if she had been doing it for years. I sincerely hope this young lady goes on to win many more and wish her the best of luck. Hats off to her for such an amazing display of courage and determination!!
Amazing!! I still can’t believe she’s a grand slam champion, she is so cute and smily sweet
why is that hard to believe
@@jmartin4204 She looks powerless and not muscular, like she gets tired easily (:
Smart, talented and beautiful... AND so humble.... an amazing young lady
This isn’t a fluke ,she’s the real deal ,, she played amazing at Wimbledon .
Until she bottled it.
@@SJF15 if she hadn't she would probably have made it into the final.
She is a late starter professionally because her family insisted she do exams at 18.This is not usual .From the age of 11 she relentlessly won everything she entered
Oh is this what she was complaining about? That’s bizarre. Not when she went to the bathroom and Emma had no qualms about it
Great comment and 100% agree

@@jasminebali8068 Wow, you really have the garbled, cliched and incoherent response down in your word salad there, haole. That was a wipeout.
Leylah's complaining was perfectly natural.
She has that fearless, cold, killer mentality on court that all champions have.
She’s special.

She is amazing with the media! She sounds so experienced. A lot of composure, very well spoken.
And a monster on court! The way Emma crushes opponents is amazing! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see her strength training routine it is just scary!!
she is beautiful INSIDE AND OUT. the total package, humble, talented, and smart
Infectious smile and she can play tennis
I had no doubt that Emma would come out victorious, it was just in the making she has amazing skills and strength also body control, her return is crazyyy 😳, many more to come from her 🔥🔥🔥🥰
Incredible. History maker.
I live in Canada and I was rooting for Emma; her smile destroys the bounds of geography. Now, I will be rooting for Leylah to win the next thousand tournaments she plays in, but this one I really wanted it for Emma. 😊

Have to say in reality she is Canadian.
What a great game of tennis , both players a credit to themselves and tennis .
Emma stole the show but Layla also shouldn't be forgotten, she's gonna be a rockstar in Canada and I for one am hoping for several rematches.

This feels like a dream, it’s unreal. What a player!
Wow...This is what a superstar sounds like. In her teenage she is so mature and confident. Congrats Emma you are a born talent...
When she said that Ashe felt like home I totally understand why.
She's had four matches on Arthur Ashe, dare I say in her very short career it's the court she's played the most on, that and she literally left blood, sweat and tears onto the court, that sounds like a home court to me.
Simply, simply amazing, she must be protected at all costs!
Truly deserving champion ❤️👍 I really hope she wins more majors...love to see players with such positive attitude & great confidence ❤️👍

Amazing how life can change, if you make it happen. Before Wimbledon and the US Open, she was doing her exams and probably planning on going to University. Now I imagine that won't be happening ! Great stuff.

Oh she never intended to go go Uni. She was projected to be the next big thing since her early teens. She stayed in school partially out her own thirst for knowledge but also partially because her school and tennis set up were a perfect environment to grow. They were super close together and she still practised constantly.
Still an absolutely incredible achievement but definitely not the difference between her having a pro career or going to Uni.

Emma played well, had the luck of the draw too with Leylah effectively taking out the number 2, 3, and 5 seeds. Both did well, a much needed breath of fresh air in women's tennis.
You can only beat what’s in front of you and if that happens to be the man that beat ‘the man’ or in this case woman, then that makes you a worthy champion.
No one knows what the future will bring for Emma. She may never win another tournament again but at the 2021 US Open she was the best player in the field.
Good luck Emma.
So if she could take out the 2,3 and 5 seeds what was the problem with the unseeded qualifier.? Never heard any excuses about hard draw when she was winning.
