for those who are wondering, I added a subwoofer 10 inch by audison active and it is better than the top-tier burmester I have got in my e-class cabriolet and as good as our x7! Filled in the gaps so nicely, for those more bassy songs, and the workshop somehow made it work with the inbuilt bass-slider in the settings! 10/10 would reccomend if your off put by the bass but it did cost around 1500aud, which is worth it to me!
Definitely a better sound system than my 2023 x3 Harmon Kardon I just traded in. Plus the upgraded interior & exterior blows the current x3 out the water.
My wife and I just got this vehicle and have been really impressed with the sound system, especially the crisp highs. Like you, I was also a little disappointed with the lack of bass at all levels, but fortunately the bass is at least very accurate. I would much rather have that than the strong but muddy bass that is present in the Bose system in our 2023 Bolt EV.
@@pariandangel I leave enhanced audio on. To me it sounds like BMW's version of room correction and I think it works very well. I leave mids and treble at +0 but I believe I have bass at +5. It doesn't really resolve the lack of upper bass but the low bass hits pretty well at that setting.
Hi - I am debating on a new X1 but am concerned about the lack of knobs and the dial...which I loved. Is it easy to navigate all of the systems without looking at the screen? Did you set up voice activation? It doesn't seem safe to navigate without looking at this screen. I must be missing something. Gen Xer here...lol!

The Harman Kardon in the X1 U11 didn't convince me at all, no pressure at all and only if you listen quietly does it sound reasonably decent and that's why I didn't order the sound system and had a sound system retrofitted
Hey Charlie, If I ran my USB C thumb drive (with WAV files) through an external DAC before plugging it into the cars USB C port, would it still work? Would it also work if I ran my iPhone (containing WAV files) through an external DAC before connecting it to the USB C port (thus avoiding the mediocre built in iPhone DAC)? I assume if either did work the sound would be superior to the built in Wireless CarPlay? Thanks if you can advise.
The reason I ask is because it seems you cannot connect an external DAC to Apple CarPlay by wire - won’t work. But if a car like the X1 has Wireless CarPlay you can use that for navigation, etc, but plug a thumb drive with HD tracks into the USBC port via an external DAC and have the best of both worlds. Ideally it would best to use your iPhone with HD tracks and run that through a USBC port via an external DAC. The goal is to avoid the iPhone and car DACs, which are normally poor. Make sense?
Do music files have to be .wav for car to read them? I insert the USB with .mp3 files and the car doesn't recognize USB. Can't even see it in devices, only radio. Is data cable needed? I tried FAT32 and NTFS and USB is not detected. Am I doing something wrong?
@DailyMotorSound one is 64Gb and the other is 16Gb. Both worked fine in other car. Was looking online for the solution but didn't find it. There is nothing regarding usb playback in driver's manual. Probably gonna have to go to the dealer to check it. The car is full M package and full Premium package if it means anything. Usb ports work just fine for charging phone. Android auto works great also. Could it be that the usb ports are for charging only?

I was extremely disappointed with the equaliser: only a 2 band EQ. Really??? And even then, it hasn't much effect as well. The average tone of the soundsystem is too clear or too sharp. Sub bass yeah, but too little bass or low mids. Really a real bad sound system. 😢
Stepped up their game??? The HK system in the X1 U11 is NOT WORTH IT. The F48 HK system was much more powerful and tweakable. This? This is just a glorified base hifi system to be honest. I had both the F48 one and now the U11 one and it is a HUGE disappointment. I regret paying for this system (you don't even get an equalizer ... Wtf???), and I would much rather have spent that money on a proper audio upgrade somewhere other than BMW. It's a truly sad "upgrade". If this is an upgrade then the standard hifi system must be worse than that of an old Lada. The bad? No EQ, (severe) lack of power, highs are too sharp, mid is mediocre at best, bass is somewhat in there but not that you'd think there are "subs" under the seats (not even close). All in all a very flat sounding system. For comparison, even the JBL system in a 2020 Kia Ceed is much better. TL;DR it is a rip-off and shrinkflation. Keep you money and use it to replace the standard audio with something decent that's NOT BMW.

Bmw needs to up their subwoofer game. 3 beemers and I’ve been disappointed with all of them (all had the max upgrade audio)

Ooof, that's a great question and I have no idea the answer. Would probably be different for every vehicle. Maybe that's something I can try someday

Hmmm, that's strange. How large is your drive? If it's too small or too large some vehicles can have an issue with it.
