Hey, thanks for dropping by! I just found your question now, and to answer it, I connect my MacBook using the USB Type-C cable that comes with the monitor. Regarding your other question, yes, it works even when my MacBook is closed. It performs like clamshell mode, but for the mouse and keyboard, I make sure they're connected to my MacBook's Bluetooth.
