Thanks for incredible footage. I’ve started planning that’s why I’m here - sourcing for preview, videos of the expedition, what to expect, etc. My goal is to make it to Antarctica between 2022 to 2024. Yes I know that’s some years away well at least I’ve set a vision for myself to work towards it..
Actually they are all naturalists and none of them are hunters.I’ve travelled the world… every continent… and except for my photo safari in Africa this was the most impactful and most educational experience.
Its a National Geographic Scientific Expedition so the 100 odd travelers pay for the trip including cost if all the scientists who work with the visitors to educate them about the Antarctic. It's not affordable for the average person.
Very true. The whale tagging made me pretty upset. They used the excuse of scientific research but all they were doing was taking pictures, probably for profit.
Justin Hopkins i would not be bothered if it was for scientific research, but these people were tourists out for a joyride. that's all that bothered me.
+Justin Hopkins, I understand your point, and agree with you. I spent one year in a scientific research base in Antarctica, Concordia Base station, for climate change research. In the middle of the continent we where in less than 100 people summing Concordia, Vostok and south pole. Unfortunately on the coast the border between scientific research and tourism is wery tin. and honestly on the video they don't look like a proper researchers. but maybe I am making a mistak.
i have never been to antarctica, unfortunately, and i completely agree with you. it is not a place for tourists. i would love to spend a year working there for at least a year.
Yep I'm pretty keen, its just gunna be pesky accents (mainly chicks that are in awe of random sh*t - not the guides) and the constant noise of shutter speed in 'sport mode' that will get to me.
Some day I'm gonna be a national geographic explorer, maybe someday I'll be in Antartica if I get a chance
great video!! it makes me feel I've been in this awesome expidition too.. thank you so much for sharing your experience with us..
$18,000 and up excluding airfare. Went this past January and worth every penny!

I am so sorry but my opinion is Antarctica cannot be a please for tourist.
Tourism destroys that is real meaning of Antarctic Treaty.

is that Bill Murray at 19:29?
how about instead of tagging them you just leave them alone. no harm there.
Gotta spend our tax dollars somehow?
how do you go on theses expeditions
Is a tour you pay for, it costs around $14k

See them at a park or zoo, cheaper and you don't have to wear a three inch thick jacket.
