    Thanks for these great patterns Alex. I last tied my own flies about 50 years ago. Your great UA-cam clips have encouraged me to start again

    Such basic and simple flies, and so very well tied, nice one Alec.

      I only tie simple flies Mike with the only aim to catch trout in my competitions and pleasure fishing trips, they only need to please the fish 🤣👍🎣🐟

    Thank you for the quick response. Do you also use these 3 patterns in streams/creeks, or do you have other favorite midge patterns that you use?

      Hi John , I use them on still water lakes , but can't see why they can't catch in your creeks.
      Check out my tying and fishing videos on my NOTHING fly , this is a great dry fly when midge or small black flies are on the surface 👍

    I'm trying to understand the proportions on the Top Hat Buzzer. What size foam cylinder did you use for the #14 hook. What size would you use for smaller hooks such as #18 or #20? Thank you for the video. I live in Northampton, Pennsylvania and fish the foothills of the Pocono Mts. I enjoy learning from other tyers around the world. Where in the UK are you located/fish?

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  Рік тому +1

      Cheers John , as long as your size 14/ 16 hooks are not a heavy hook, you can use 3mm high density wapsi foam cylinders.
      Smaller size hooks you can reduce the diameter down as long as it floats the fly in the surface film when Ginked up with floatant , this is an absolutely deadly method all over the UK still waters for midge sipping trout , we come from the northeast of England around the Newcastle upon Tyne area but fish all oer the country.
      Many thanks for watching the videos 👍🎣🐟

    Hi Alec, could you explain why you put the sticky side out on the cheeks.

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  19 днів тому

      When you first tie on the cheez on , the sticky side is on the outside but when you fold it forwards towards the eye, it's then on the inside when you tie it off at the eye end 👍🎣🐟

    Hi Alec will they work on the reservoirs?

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely Trevor, just change the size to match the size of the buzzers the fish are feeding on, on the water you are fishing, spoon or throat pump a fish to find this out 👍🎣🐟

    Hi Alec. Where is best to buy the foam cylinders from.

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 роки тому

      Hi James, I use the Upavon cylinder foam cutters and cut my own using a drill and but a high density foam block I get from Eyebrook tackle shop.
      You can by them already cut from jubilee lakes tackle shop on line 👍🎣🐟

    Hi Alec is there a reason why you have tied your deep buzzer on a jig hook? Thanks

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 роки тому +4

      It fishes hook up Trevor so when fishing deep and close to the bank you get less snags on the bottom. 👍🎣🐟
