Incredible photo slideshow of an incredible steam locomotive, I am glad that I was able to witness a UP "big boy" class locomotive be rebuilt/ returned to service within my lifetime.
Imagine how those who took those photos of 4014 in the 1940s and 1950s, and were saddened to see 4014 pull its last train before it was retired thinking they would never see this beast running again, would feel if they could see or go into the future and witness 4014 resurrected from the dead to steam and whistle across the rails again? For me this is like the train buff's real time Jurassic Park, but with old time trains instead of dinosaurs being brought back to life.
4014 is probably my favourite articulated locomotive in existence
