This was incredible. Exactly what I needed, no long obnoxious introduction, no funny business. Thank you for not wasting anyone's time and just showing us how it's done. Thank you!
After 2 hours of searching through MS Office and every other possible resource in which some explanations resulted in more math the Newtons Law, I found what I was looking for. Thank You!
Thank you for this. My follow up question is how do I get it to count when 2 values that are in separate columns are true? For example Count if the state is NY AND the birth month is 5.
This is the more wholesome boomer ever. how he use fun examples of excel with data from sports players and how he talks about excel and if excel was a sentient being. its so wholesome i love these tutoriales
Thank you for providing this video. As the others have commented, this is extremely helpful. By my having learned how to do this count, this saved me a great deal of time!
I came for copper and found gold. I often noticed the dollar sign in some formular, but I never understood its function until now. Thanks a lot for this video
@@nurliyanaaqilahbintimohdpa5821 He wants it to show the total for the state to check listed in cell i but is searching the f column which is each players birth state. i2 is AL, by putting i2 there, he can then drag that formula down the J column and it will automatically change the formula on each row like row 3 it will be check for the the total of the state shown in i3, etc. I didn't need it for that, but am tracking product stock, so have a column N that puts OOS when that rows item is Out of Stock. I just wanted a quick count of how many OOS's there were, since I manually recheck them for accuracy & specifics. So instead of a cell like i2, I put "OOS". =COUNTIF(N4:N811,"OOS") to show the total OOS in column N.
Thanks! Made keeping track of my TCG Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon rarity count in order and easier. I no longer have to count by color mentally and let the Excel do the counting.
For anyone who needs to enter a ## of ## for page numbers or pallets of pallets (in my situation), you can create another rule of =countif(F$2,F2,F2) and drag down. If it doesn't work to drag that cell, go one down and do (F$2, F3, F3). For this example, it'll label the order of each MVP to their respective state. So Wade Boggs is 3/whatever the total was in that list. Hope it helps somebody.
Thanks a lot for the explanation. I tried the metthod, and it counts the number of cells containing the word. If the text appears twice in one cell, it counts it as one. What is the formula to ensure it is counted twice. Thanks again
Thank you so much, I was working on a count and was not sure how to do that. I saw this and found my answer. 😊 It's always good to learn. Thanks a lot.
For some reason the formula does not update automatically unless i drag and drop it every time a new entry is added on my table. Any recommendation on how to deal with that?
Thanks for this. I am using it to count how many of each product I have sold. One question, if I insert a row into the data field in which the COUNTIF range feeds from, do I have to change the formula every time?
