      Like I said in the video, I think the consistency is great, and it certainly isn't the worst... I just didn't find any real cleaning power with it!
      Again though, like I said at the end, maybe it'll work well blanketing a decent pre-wash product 👍🏼👍🏼

  • @decker0373

    Nice one Mark, results were as I would have expected, I think! That being, a PH Neutral SF does little really and needs to be twinned with another prewash product and, the shampoo works. However, the level of lubrication seen with the shampoo is interesting, especially to those who use a shampoo with a clay towel or mitt. Good content mate. All the best. 👍

      I wasn't expecting to be blown away or anything but the shampoo in particular performed well enough to earn a place amongst my regular use products... The snowfoam... Meh... I'll use what I have but I wouldn't rush out to buy it again

    Great video mate!! 👏🏻👏🏻
    Really well filmed and edited, you certainly do put some effort in in that respect.
    I’ve used these myself recently and I do think it’s a major leap forward for Halfords to have brought this range over the basic wash n wax , people are going nuts on socials trying to find out who’s behind it it’s actually laughable that it really matters 😂

      Thanks Graeme.
      Yeah I really don't get the fascination - all seems to have stemmed from one Halfords employee 'apparently' claiming that Autobrite Direct made the products - which is complete Nonsense lol
      Personally, I don't care who makes them, I don't see the issue with white label brands, that's how manufacturing works in every other industry so I don't see why car care should be any different 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Think for their target audience as long as the Foam Foams and the Shampoo cleans, its a winner.
    Be interested to see them up against the corresponding CarChem products as I believe that is their base, and not AutoBrite as some people would have us believing 😉

    I was suprised when i poured the foam out too that it was clear and not coloured. Personal preference i guess and nothing to do with its performance. I used this with an mjjc and we all know what that does. The dilution needed winding right back. It was defo Magifoam style snow foam
    Shampoo wise i have to agree with you. I was really suprised by it. I used 40ml in the bucket and it did improve the foam. Id happily use it again. Im actaully keen to try a few more bits like the qd, ceramic foam and the wheel cleaner.

      I agree with the cleaning power but iv learnt over the years there really isn't many that do clean and like you say I think this is a blanket type foam ideal if you like going over a pre wash. It actually reminds me of the Detail Bug ice foam, probabaly something to do with the same manufacture. 👀

      @SparkleanAutos  Рік тому +1

      Oooo you went there lol

      I've used it for the first time today. At 6%, it didn't clean my bicycle, but the foam was insane. Added Surfex HD at 5% and it's now a lovely wheel cleaner through an IK Foamer.
      For people with a lance, I think the above combo would make a superb bodywork cleaner. But then, wouldn't you just use a decent snowfoam eg Autofoam🤷‍♂️.
      I like it a lot for wheels

    Another easy watch. I know Halfords sell a variety of products but I can never understand why they do not have a self branded product that is a genuine contender at a reasonable price but I don't think this is it from your comments but the car turned out well. What sealant do you have on it as the water behaviour seems to be very hydrophobic is it still Magiseal.

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  Рік тому

      Thank you John.
      I was definitely a little disappointed with the snow foam - it started out well, consistency was good, dwell was also better than some especially considering how warm & windy it was that day, but the cleaning power just wasn't there.
      The shampoo on the other hand I would definitely use again - probably use a little more next time but it was very pleasant to use and the car came up well!
      The sealant in the car - well there's actually a pair on there although it was for my own amusement, not for a video! One side is Turtle Wax Hydrophobic Sealant and the other side has GB Detailing Silk. I won't say too much as they are also both part of Graeme's ongoing sealant test! 👍🏼

    Shampoo looked decent from results, I’m 100% in agreement re the suds, can’t have enough froth tbh…
    But I’d be leaving the snowfoam out in the black bin for collection, one of the weakest SF I’ve seen you test 👍🏻

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  Рік тому

      It only stayed out of the bin because it definitely has something going for it... Maybe over the top of a good pre-wash! It's definitely not going to win any 'greatest cleaning power' tests!

    I picked up a bottle of the Halfords advanced snow foam a few months ago and have been using it weekly since.... Unfortunately it appears to have next to no cleaning power at all. It has little to no effect on dirt vs water alone. I've since been mixing it with a dash of Surfex HD to give it some bite.

    • @SparkleanAutos

      Welcome to the hobby!! First thing I'll say is it's a big rabbit hole that you could endlessly fall down! So before you go too far, ask yourself what your expectations are from products - but this will change over time too!
      As for snow foams.. there are generally 2 different types -
      The majority create foam but have very little actual cleaning power and this Halfords one falls into that bracket. These generally say pH neutral on the label. They can still help but better if you use some form of prewash underneath (citrus wash or a non-caustic TFR).
      Then there are the high-alkaline snow foams which do provide some cleaning power but the downside for some people is they also degrade any protection that's on the car (waxes, sealants etc.).
      Here's a video I made on pre-wash process and why it's important -
      ua-cam.com/video/BjJaOxgtJfA/v-deo.html
      Hopefully this helps a bit but feel free to ask me anything, any time 👍🏼
      Main thing to remember is to enjoy the hobby and avoid the rabbit hole!!

    I guess product production is only ever going to be a sideline for Halfords. They get people in the door based on some of their other offerings and then tempt you with cheaper Halford products probably made by others but as I said on previous video, it great to see a channel looking at this market. Well done mate

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  Рік тому +1

      Thank you Martin. Spot on again, brands the size of Halfords don't have to invest tens of thousands developing the absolute best products for each category as the majority of their customers just want a product that works and won't damage their paintwork or plastics!!

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  Рік тому +1

      I can understand that - some snowfoams (this being one of them!) Don't seem to have any cleaning ability... But even those that don't clean can still serve a purpose - whether it's to help products underneath dwell for longer, or even just because some people simply enjoy using them.
      I have seen myself go for months without using one l, just use a good pre-wash product, but then I'll miss using snowfoam for whatever reason and go back to it again!

  • @petersmith7126
    @petersmith7126 5 місяців тому +1

    Most mild snowfoam will not really remove traffic film on its own and that goes for the biggest name brands, if you need it cleaner you need either an alkaline or acidic brand which will degrade any protection on the car with tepeated use .... If you want it ckeaner prior to the contact wash you'd need a citrus prewash msh aplied prior to snowfoaming or mix some in with the snowfoam......
    At the end of the day these products are not aimed at the professionals out there but for your weekend warriors like myself who care enough about their car's to not use the local scratch & shine to wreck their car but want to buy something that they can trust without spending an arm and a leg on it or scratching their heads over a dozen different brands wondering which is best... Most of us know nobody makes the best of everything, akthough Bilt Hamber seems oretty close to it 😊, and most professionals will use a variety of brands buying what they feel is the best product from each manufacturer

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  5 місяців тому +1

      Whilst I pretty much agree with what you're trying to say Peter, the fact remains that this is a video series testing products against their own claims, not about finding the most efficient method for car care.
      In Halfords own words describing this product, they say "This foaming pre-wash removes road grime and large contaminates with ease, to make the contact wash even easier."... sadly those were not my findings, hence my conclusion on the foam. Had they stated something like "This pH neutral Snow Foam works well in conjunction with our **insert other stronger prewash product!** allowing for an increased dwell time and more efficient contactless cleaning stage" then I would have raved about it...
      Unfortunately a claim was made, tested, and found to be false - that's all I'm reviewing here! 👍🏼👍🏼

    • @petersmith7126
      @petersmith7126 5 місяців тому +1

      @@SparkleanAutos ... You do have a fair point, I've not used it nor looked at it in the shops but these products all basically make the same claims of being the ultimate cleaner and nothing will clean like a contact wash ..... Well I've seen a few industrial strength products for used, lorries etc I'd not want to try on a car...

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  5 місяців тому +1

      I have a few that I use on occasion when the situation calls for it but the main thing is to ensure they're non-caustic... But even using 'extreme' products on rare occasions won't do any harm, provided they're rinsed properly - it's when people use them week in, week out or (as you say) go to dodgy roadside car washes, that's when problems can occur!!
      Yes they will degrade protection, but sometimes you just have to be prepared to degrade it in order to safely clean the car, then just apply more 😁👍🏼
