    This guy is the man! I would only be able to a get pitchers worth of water out of my 5 gallon RO tank. I drained it all out, adjusted the PSI and now all the water in the tank comes out. Thank You!

      Curious Why is draining needed? Would it work just pump to 6-8 psi directly(with valve closed)?

    I've had my system for several years and just recently the system would bring my flow to a stop after 6 or 7 oz. After watching this video I was able to drain tank and bring the PSI to 6.5 and life is all good. I was thinking about buying a new system, thanks for saving me a few bucks.

    long time ago, you couldn't find this information on the internet. back then my tank had lost its capacity and so i searched the internet with no success. ended up throwing away the entire RO system and installing a new one. I tried your method on my current system and worked like a charm. Thank you

    Thank you so much for this video! I was nervous about changing the filters and the membrane on my RO system. Following the directions for start-up and waiting 6 hours to test the system, I was so disappointed with the flow of water. I got a neighbour handyman to check out my work and he approved my work. I told him it was probably the tank and this morning I followed the steps in the video and all is working perfectly with my system. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

    Very helpful and well presented. The manual for our GE Reverse Osmosis water filter system had absolutely no information on servicing the storage tank. We would have never known how to diagnose , drain and re-inflate the tank.

    This was a lot of help. The water service company we had used wanted to charge us over $1000 to service our reverse osmosis filter system. We bought new filters and membranes for $300, then followed Gary's video here to bleed and recharge the tank and the system works like new. Thank you! And no, I won't send you the $700 we saved🤔

    Hi Gary, great video, thank you. I have a few questions though: If the tank bladder isn't leaking, then how does it lose pressure? What will the tank pressure be when the tank if full? How often should I check the tank pressure? Thanks, Rick

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  Рік тому

      It very slowly loses pressure over many years of use. Full pressure depends on your water supply pressure. You only need to check the tank when you have very little flow and the tank is full

    So I have just recently changed out the pre filter and post filter and the reverse osmosis cartridges with new ones. Water coming out slower than it was with the old one. About 1 month later it’s only filtering less than a bottle amount of water a day. I can confirm the tank is pressurized at 7 PSI when empty . Do you know what the issue could be?

    Gary, I successfully empied my tank and hooked it back up again and it is running fine. Thankyou for the good instructions. But, while I was emptying the tank the water stopped coming out about half way empty. I had to insert a stick into the air valve to empty the rest of the water as well as alot of the air. The water came out brownish. Is that because it has rusted inside? Do I need to replace the tank? Now that it is up and running there is no sign of discoloration or off taste. What do you think?

    Hi Gary. What you describe here sounds like our problem. We attempted to follow all of your steps. We got as far as opening the tank and letting out some of the water. When we then tried to use both a bicycle pump and a compressor to pump out the rest of the water, nothing happens. No water comes out when we use either device. It seems that the air is not getting in. The tank is still heavy so it seems there is still water in there. Any ideas what is going wrong?

    Greetings. Nicely explained but when you pressurize the bladder, don't you need to close the valve at the top of the tank so it holds the pressure? In your video you never closed it after the draining portion. Seems to me that unless you close that top valve, the air you are pumping in will just escape right back out the top? Am i incorrect?

    Thank you Gary the water guy, very helpful. My symptom is very slow flow at the faucet. The storage tank is full. When I push on the Schrader valve water comes spewing out of the Schrader valve. Does that mean that the bladder is broken? I did remove the tank after that and tried to remove the water. It would not come out by gravity. When I applied air pressure with a bicycle pump to the tank it probably pushed out two thirds of the water and the rest I cannot get out. Would you agree that the bladder is probably broken? The tank is a whirlpool unit and I've probably had it at least five years. Thanks.

    Thank you for this great video! I followed your instructions. I could not pump any air into the tank as it was so hard, and the tank was still full. Then, I used a nail to release some air from the valve, the water shot out from the opening, very strongly! I cannot explain this: Why water did not come out when I pumped, but shot out when I released the air from the valve.
    Can I still repair the tank? Or, I have to buy another tank? Please help.

    What if the tank is empty? We’ve just installed an RO system and we waited 24 hours. A little trickle of water and then nothing. Tank is very light. Has about 10 lbs of pressure. It had between 5-7 when we first started. Heeeeelp!

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  9 місяців тому

      First, drop pressure back down to 6 psi. Next, shu off the tank and open the faucet and let it trickle for about 3 hours into the sink. Then close the faucet, open the tank and it should fill. If not, contact whomever you bought it from.

    My Amtrol RO4 just failed after 19 years. Poor pressure at the faucet led to me determining water leaking from the schraeder valve while trying to take pressure readings. The water leaking from the schaeder valve is due to a ruptured internal rubber bladder which, in a properly functioning tank, separates the water at the top of the tank from the pressurized air chamber at the bottom of the tank (where the schraeder valve is).

  • @johnathonallread9519
    @johnathonallread9519 2 роки тому +1

    I am confused. If you use the Schrader valve to pump up the bladder inside to get the water out, won't the air remain in there or you have a change to burst the bladder? You go on then say check the air pressure with the same valve. I guess this is a bit confusing to me.

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  2 роки тому

      Yes, you want the air to remain in there to push out the water. When the tank is empty you check the air pressure to make sure you adjust it to get 7 psi with the tank empty.

    Thank You Mr. Gary (the water guy). I have a culligan RO under the sink filtration system. The faucet fractured and broke off. The replacement is very expensive. I wanted to know if the quick release system that it came with could be negotiated around. The tube is pushed into the connectors. The current tubing girth is about an inch which brings greater pressure through the faucet. All other faucets have connections that require small girths of tubing and the quick release valves that come along with the faucets can not take the pressures, thereby, causing leaks. Thanks again. Enrique.

I checked pressure with 0-25 psi gauge--0 psi,. I opened the ball valve on top of the tank and attempted to use pump again--only to hear air escaping from ball valve.
