Thank you for making this video. I'm 42, never married, no kids and my dog is all I have so this information is very important to me. Thank you.

My Husky has just been diagnosed with GHF this morning, shes 9, after taking her to the vet to check on a cough shes had for a few weeks, she had an xray after the vet listened to her chest and her heart is very inflamed. Shes been prescribed Vetmedin twice daily, water tablets and anti-inflammatories. I'm totally gutted because shes my life.

I last my Buzo day before, He was diagnosed of CHF two years ago... As his suffering was increasing... He started to collapse and become uncoonscious... for a few seconds... We decided to put him to sleep as the doctor said there is no cure for his ailment. We had all the xrays, ecgs, blood pressure checked fortnightly for our Buzo. Tried to give him best possible treatment that was available. I wish there was a permanent cure for CHF in dogs, I miss him no end.

I am going through the late night boughts of coughing and sometimes early morning. She is just turned 5. She had an xray which should a little bit of fluid in one lung and the heart minimally enlarged. Vet put her on a diuretic and a heart pill. Im beside myself researching this. I feel in denial. She is so young and she eats and she plays and acts normal except for the cough. I am so sorry Via L. I feel your pain.

Thank you for the video. I just lost one of my shelties to heart failure this morning. He was on Vetmedin for a year and he did well until about 2 months ago. After that it was a battle of keeping the fluid at bay.

Thank you for posting this. Got a 4 year old teacup that has heartworms now heart failure. She had them before I got her. So sad for this diagnosis as she is most loyal loving pet ever. Thanks for information

Would be nice if my veterinarian “internal medicine doctor” and “cardiologist” could explain it this simply especially for the money I spend on consultations and ultrasounds.

My 10 yr old maltese poodle cross was diagnosed with congestive heart failure 41/2 months ago. Have been using Vetmedin and Frusemide (diuretic). Also changed her diet to natural raw food but she doesn't want to eat it so tried cooking mixture lightly and she likes it better. I use ground beef or chicken, hearts and livers, salmon or sardines, variety of vegs and fruit, eggs (incl. ground shells), fish oil, coconut oil, and flaxseed all mixed together. Also give multi vitamin and other supplements. She is doing fairly well but still has slight cough and not as energetic as she used to be. I will try Co Q10 as well.

Thanks for the video Dr. Meiser. I have 9yr old, fawn, female boxer who is otherwise in perfect health. I gave her a dose of flea and tick medicine and within 2 weeks shes had 6 what appears to be seizures/syncopal episodes. Ekg confirms heart murmur, xray confirms slight enlargement on one side. Is the heart enlargement and the murmur a def. sign of a malfunctioning valve? I just dont have the money to spend on ultrasound at this time, couldnt we give her meds based on the current information? Blood work came back clean and clear too. Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Anyone coming to this video please check your dogs diet and supplementation! I've read and seen videos of supplementing properly and making sure their food is up to par it helps extremely with heart disease. Dried food is usually not enough.

My 10 year old male Beagle was having a cough. On check up - xray, echocardiogram, Doctor diagnosed slight heart enlargement and prescribed heart meds to be given forever. My baby would run, play, eat heartily without any issue, normal Beagle weight, except for this little cough. Being a sceptic, and also because I believe -‘don’t fix anything if it ain’t broke’ - I didn’t give him Any med. With natural home remedy of some lemon+ginger+v little honey + a pinch of turmeric mixed in warm chicken/mutton/ fish broth 2-3 times a day, his cough was cured. He is 14 years now. Thank God !
