A lot of stuff that happened wasn’t planned they weren’t gonna have these big roles but other actors pushed for Heather because she was genuinely funny and they thought they should write stuff for her. And Naya got a bigger part after singing “the boy is mine” around set for the others and Ryan Murphy had her do it on the show. Then Naya and Heather asked for them to take the relationship serious because the fans wanted and cared for it.
I love the representation in this program and in Wynona Earp. WlW is always an easy subject to exploit for cheap shock or cheap thrills, I'm so glad for the realistic representations. I'm originally from Brazil and I connected on so many levels to Santanas coming out pain.
Honestly out of the high school relationships they were the least problematic because they would always realize their mistakes and learn from them. I just wish they had gotten more screen time together.

I mostly like feminine women more and never felt really attracted to butch/ masculine lesbians in tv (which is a representation just as important and valid as the femme ones) so when I was younger i felt like I was somehow not enough in terms of my sexuality bc of my taste in women. It may sound obvious at this point but when I was younger this couple helped me to realize that you can embrace your femininity in a conventional way and also like women who are the same.
I really like that the representation meant to much for many people. Side note the fact that you mentioned Santana as a “brown lesbian” and Britany as just a “feminine lesbian” kinda threw me off.
It was symbolic. They linked their pinky fingers because Santana was not out yet and not ready for full handholding. If you ask me the pinky thing was cuter and more likely to make me think girlfriends not girl friends.
I like how it progressed, it went from the pinky, to actual hand holding, and then to actual physical affection and clinging to each other LOL. It definitely was symbolic because it showed the way they developed. Santana got more confident and felt safe with Brit, so she felt she could be with her without being scared of someone seeing them together. :)
