Super duper useful when you have a large mix of slow motion clips! You can even have multiple frame rates in one smart collection if you want. That way you can have all of your 60, 120 and even 240fps clips in one spot.
Thank you Dylan, so much of this I LOVED in Aperture. So frequently something you learn in one spot returns downstream in other applications. The Color Board in Pixelmator for example.
That is annoying! I hadn’t thought of that. I’d be curious if setting up a smart collection with used media might offer different results? I’ll have to try that out!
I wish there was a way for Final Cut to automatically assign roles based on the file name (so for example, if I had a clip with the word VoiceOver in the file name, I’d love if Final Cut automatically made that audio a dialog role that was blue) For music I’d leave it as green, but for something like SFX, I’d make it teal and if it automatically made the file’s role ‘SFX’ and changed the colour during import, I’d be so happy. Unless there is a way to do this I’m not aware of 😂
100%! I keep thinking I’m missing something, cause on rare occasion, when I bring in a music clip, it’ll be set as music. And even more rarely, I will import a sound effects clip, and it’ll already be a sound effect. But for the most part, it almost never happens. I need to do a deeper dive and figure out why that is.
The speed graph is pretty cool in AE and Premiere! There is a simple speed graph available in Apple Motion, but it’s not quite as easy to use. Maybe someday! Thanks for stopping by, even if you’re not using FCP anymore!
So so useful, Dylan 👏 The new background looks good! But it's missing that piano that you don't know how to play.
Bro uploads, I click.
Never knew there was a BroCam ;-) Lots of power. Don't need it but fun to watch anyway!
They actually filmed Interstellar on 2 BroCams! That’s why it looked so good.
Ooooh the frame rate sorting smart collection is a great idea! Lots of great tips in this vid man. Nice work.

🔥🔥🔥 Tips once again!!! We aren't worthy.
Pro tips! Thanks Dylan! 👊
Some really useful tips Dyland. Thank you again for all your hard work. Brilliant! We would be lost without you!
This level of organizing is one important why I prefer FCP to other NLEs.
Very useful 👌
Great tips. Thanks for this.

love from india sir
Love to India!
The only thing I don't like about "used media" is that whatever is in compound clips on a timeline the viewer doesn't count as "used".
That is annoying! I hadn’t thought of that. I’d be curious if setting up a smart collection with used media might offer different results? I’ll have to try that out!
This drives me up the wall too!
It’s interesting that FCP will change the modified or created metadata, but won’t actually change the file name.

@@TheFinalCutBro maybe we can bug Chris Hocking to somehow make this a thing with CommandPost 😂
after years of fcpx (3) i've switched to premiere and ae, i cannot edit anymore in fcpx😂 the i really would like to see an actual speegraph there😢
