Wilt is by far and away greater than any other nba player in history. No one has won as much as him against the odds. No one has lost as little as him wilt the odds in their favor or even, no one has come close to changing 4 rules to try and stop their greatness like he did, no one dominated in 3-5 major categories at a time like he did, no one dominated an era where it was a turnover to wrist carry, take extra steps, backdown punish, count assists after a player takes a dribble, playing in chuck taylors, with a bigger basketball than todays ball that’s harder to fit inside the rim, hoops that sway side to side from the gym vibrations hanging from wires etc… and against the most hof packed league and players who have the most track and field and high jump record as athletes of all eras By far wilt is the goat
Jordan could jump high and dunk, shoot from the field pretty well and handle the ball really well. He was a great scorer. I can understand why many would call him the GOAT, and I don't argue with them too often. I haven't ever, ever, seen anybody do the things Wilt could do on the court. His first 6 years, nobody has even come close, in scoring, rebounding, blocking shots, and general defense, all totaled. I don't care what era they played in. He dropped his scoring, to about half, because Coach Hannum talked him into it. Another commenter has covered that Boston beat Wilt's teams, not Russell by himself, and I agree strongly.
not only did he block kareem. but he did so multiple times in one game and multiple games. wilt was 36 and post massive kene surgery while kareem was near his prime . imagine if wilt was in his prime
He cut his shot numbers in half. How many great players do that in the second half of their career while averaging almost the same amount of minutes? None. Jordan averaged 30 points a game for his career and so did Wilt but Wilt averaged 40 points a game for his first 7 seasons. If he had kept shooting at that rate and did what Shaq did, he would have easily ended his career with 40 points a game as his average. Just imagine Wilt playing like Shaq did. Muscling everyone. And being allowed to do it. Crazy to think of that.
