I have some great vids for u to watch and hopefully react to. Wilt Chamberlain is like a myth and growing on UA-cam you can get lost in those Larry Bird Michael Jordan rabbit holes and get more views from those vids than a Wilt Chamberlain vid. But I assure you, in basketball history no one has ever been as dominant as Wilt the Stilt was. Rings don't truly account for the greatness that was him. In his era the rules didn't allow him to play like Shaq in the post or it was offensive foul. Also in that era no pinning shots off the backboard for blocks or it's a goaltend. Also way more rules in terms of dribbling, no euro step layups at all. The technology was worse back then, rims couldn't handle larger players going full speed to the rim for dunks like they do today. Wilt mastered his skill because the rules forced him to and didn't allow him to really use his full athletic capabilities. Also, if he wasn't treated like a monster that was gonna ruin the game he coulda came in the league at 18 instead of 23 and might have had the chance to play with Prime Jerry West and Elgin Baylor on the Lakers, those 2 guys in their primes almost beat Bill Russell's Celtics multiple times. If Prime Wilt is with them instead of all of them teaming up at the end of their careers, they most likely take half of Russell's rings. It was unfortunate he was basically playing 1v5 against one of the most dominant dynasties ever and no one could really shoot back then so it was constant double and triple teams on Wilt and you were allowed to beat him up. Sry for the paragraph but I have all the links you need for this guy. No one is sure about his vertical We have confirmed photos of him having around 40 inch vert But there is a lot of people that say that they have seen him touch the top of the backboard, he would need a 45 inch vert to do that. Nobody knows for sure but either way a 290 pound 7'1 having an 40 inch vert its crazy
At Kansas they wanted to move the rim to 12ft because he could still dunk with a 12ft rim. Not to mention NCAA and nba banned dunking free throws once they heard he was gonna dunk his free throws. Its also overlooked that he ran a 40 yard dash sub 4.5 at 7'1 that is insane.
@@Scoopda1 thats something I really appreciate about Wilt. In every other sport we have to just believe stories. With Wilt we have video proof, and or we have actual reported measurements. We have his 40 yard time because he worked out for the Kansas City Chief's and they clocked him at 4.5 bare footed. Plus he set state records for track and field events. I appreciated the fact that you were able to recognize the fact that he possessed actual basketball fundamentals. Too many people just assume he used his size and lacked skills like a lot of big men. That was something Wilt really prided himself on was the fact that he had talent. He never wanted to be seen as a bully who just used his size to dominate. That's why in the video they said if he was smaller like 6'6 he would posses more of that killer instinct.
Eh, Brah! I've been watching your Larry Bird vids.. and I've liked them all.. but THIS VIDEO is why subscribed! Next, do Bill Russell! Then, do Russell vs Chamberlain!! Then, do Kareem! Then, do Kareem vs Chamberlain! I really dig that you are looking at the old shit. This stuff was before my time, but it was RECENT enough that Wilt was one of my heroes, cuz of my Dad. As for THIS video..Wilt was MUCH more than a powerful body..he was VERY finesse. He reminds me more of Tim Duncan..a heavier Tim Duncan..who COULD force his way in for a dunk, but preferred to pull a fade away at 15 feet..ALWAYS OFF THE GLASS!! His games against Bill Russell are EPIC! also~ don't forget that Wilt only won ONE Championship..and it was with Jerry West and the the Lakers. Keep looking for OLD GUYS! They will impress you.. I promise.
Wilt won 2 titles. The first was in 1967 with the 76ers; that team won a record 68 games and ended the Celtics run of 8 straight titles. The second was with the 1972 Lakers, who broke the 76ers record by winning 69 games, including 33 in a row at one point.
Right? Look up the players who came into the NBA from the old ABA, which had a 3 point line before the NBA grudgingly incorporated it in 1979. Many of then were cash on arrival. If anybody tells you, "Nobody" practiced or shot 3s before '79 doesn't know what they're talking about. @@Scoopda1
Young brother, you talked over some of the players in the video. I think you missed some key information. Also, there is NO VIDEO of the 100-point game. The game was held in Hershey, Pa., and not Philly. It was an old gym that did not even have a scoreboard. Basketball was not as popular as it is today, and moving camera equipment at that time was a logistical nightmare as well as expensive. They were not going to do that. If they had known that HISTORY would be in the making, they definitely would have televised it.
2k disrespects Wilt's mid range game and his full athletic capabilities, along with other all time greats from the past. In a modern game setting, Wilt can play like a bigger stronger faster Giannis with Michael Jordan Hakeem post moves, shooting with 1 hand ugly as shit but making it 54% for a career. Blocking shots top of the backboard. And idc about the talent levels, defense was grittier, fouls were called less, and players were same size back then they are today.
@savcitynineties4845 Thanks for that. I understand. I heard one reactor say he wouldn't watch anything black and white. 🙄 Why not react to what is out there, though? There are some good interviews with his peers, and some decent footage. I like listening to it and watching current players, especially big men, talk about him.

Bill and Wilt highly respected each other. They both were elite track and field competitors in college.
He was 7'1".
