I have a question, it is always recommended to format data after flashing the new rom, but obbviously doing that you will loose migrate backup, so what do u recomend, saving it in a pendrive for example and format data, or it is not necessary to format? Thanks

I had a problem with migrate helper, it says "make sure you have root" I have my backup but can't restore.

Yes until you change from a MIUI vendor to OSS vendor and vice versa. Then you need to wipe vendor too.

Yes. You can back up the apps and make sure you move the zip files to sd card rather than your phone's internal memory.

No. Migrate can only make backup zips for the installed apps. All the images and videos would still need to be backed up manually.

Use a thumb drive
It usually does not work and it will ask you to wipe everything. Once you do that, everything will be lost. Keep it either in pendrive or external memory.

Make sure your bootloader is unlocked the very first thing. Because then even if you ruin the software, you can get the phone working by putting the software again.

First Install Necessary Tools and Drivers:
1. Install Huawei HiSuite to get communication with the phone and all necessary drivers.
2. Install ADB mini with Fastboot tools to get all needed tools and rest of ADB drivers that are required.
Getting Bootloader Unlock Code:
1. Official solution by HUAWEI is:
-Create an account on Huawei page or log in if you got one.
-Open Unlock Bootloader Form and file all details with data from HUAWEI Nova 3i that we got from the above tutorial.
-Wait for Unlock Bootloader Code from Huawei(this can take up to 7days) that will be sent by e-mail.
Only after you have the unlock code, you'll be able to unlock the bootloader of the phone.

You should first go to wipe and then slide the slider and then install a new OS from the recovery.

You have to install the rom the way you normally do. Once the rom is installed, go to install (in twrp) and then select the backed-up zips and flash them.
Zip file is placed in internal storage..do not wipe your internal storage.. that's it..but if you want to wipe your internal storage copy the zip file to a safe place i.e hard disk or pc..then after wiping paste again in internal storage

No it won't create bugs mostly. There might be chances that some sensitive apps might force close but then you can delete the data of that app and it will be fine again.

My device is also encrypted that's why I stored those zips on external storage too as a precaution.

Migrate supports oramgefox too. Yes, backup in SD Card. Yes you should delete Data, cache, system (and vendor if you are shifting from miui to OSS based rom, else no need to delete vendor)

If you can flash the custom rom, the bootloader is unlocked.

If you try flashing the rom, if your bootloader is locked, firstly you'll not be able to flash the rom. That's the biggest catch. However if you doubt that much, why not turn on "unlock bootloader" option?

This might work yes. Just make sure you put the zip files in external SD CARD or on pc. Also for this method to work, root is required.

You first have to unlock the bootloader. I think in OnePlus your entire device will get wiped up after the bootloader gets unlocked. After that it won't get wiped up.

Remember:
Step 1: unlock bootloader (deletes everything on phone including internal)
Step 2: install custom recovery like TWRP for OnePlus 8
Step 3: flash Magisk via TWRP (Video on my channel)
Step 4: backup using Migrate (video on my channel)

This method needs 2 things: a custom recovery like TWRP and Root. If you have these two for your phone, it can be done.
