Alexander Volkanovski will return to the Octagon July 8th with the UFC featherweight champion defending his crown against interim title holder Yair Rodriguez.
Volkanovski is looking to bounce back after suffering a razor-close decision loss earlier this year to Islam Makhachev.

Volks key to success is so obvious in videos like this - he has an outstanding cast of characters there for each training session with one goal in mind - to HELP him preapre. Its entirely centred on his safety and his training. No gym brawls. No egos. They all come in to offer their help through their time, their bodies for one purpose only - HELP VOLK WIN.
Volk's fight preparation honestly borders on Batman-tier levels. He leaves no stone unturned (quite literally, no cliche).

@@wesj1064different strokes for different folks. Conor ego centered training style clearly did him best when he's motivated.
Most of those guys would be paid well, most of the top fighters spend big money on their camps before a fight, including paying sparing partners with the skills they want to work on to come in and stay for the whole camp. All in order to get them as prepared as possible. I read somewhere I cannot remember who it was, might have even been Volk, spent over a million on his pre-fight camp.
Volk is a human tank. Fights at 145 and can throw around 170 lb fighters. Yair is in for the fight of his life with this dude.
He played rugby as a heavyweight which is an intense sport so I’m not surprised.
Volk is training hard and smart (as always) and this is a reason why he is performing so well. Best athlete example!

I love the way he pointed out Yairs skills then confidently says 'I cant wait to systematically break him down'. I had to laugh. I feel like that's exactly what's going to happen.
That's like every fight Volk had. They all look happy at rd 1 and suddenly at r5 they looked lost and confused.

I’m Muslim , islam my favourite fighter but it’s impossible not to be a fan of this guy. One of the greatest ever for sure and no one at fw beating this guy no matter how much they hype em up his iq is higher then anyone else’s and his will to win as well. Legend.
Same here, I'm impressed by Volks work ethic and tenacity, he definately has some macedonian fire in him and surrounds himself with elite trainers and training partners.
Think all decent humans are fans of those with will and integrity. Volk oozes both just as Islam and Khabib do. I'd argue those that are not a fan nor respect these type of men are damaged broken souls.

Huge fan of Volk. Yair is probably going to be his toughest challenge cause of how fast he is evolving. Guy has skills, heart, and unpredictability to perform weird movements
Yair has really come into his own over the past few years. The version in fans minds who got beat up by Frankie Edgar should be ancient history, instead he's one of the best Featherweights in the world and only getting better all the time. Definitely a real challenge for Alex, and dangerous for 25 minutes. The fight with Yair will also determine whether the 'dominant champ' era of MMA is either still here to stay, or over.

Volk is a fuckinh legend. Putting in that work. Retaining your title time after time isn't easy. This video showed that. Yair is a wild man and is no ease task but with Volk last few performance he is gettibg better each fight and he goes down as the greatest featherweight of all time. After seeing Ilia topuria this past weekend I can't wait to see these two square off that has fight of the year potential.

I believe this will be one of Alexs most important Fight if he beats Yair there is not alot of Danger in Featherweight anymore in my Opinion this is his tuffest Test Max destroyed Yair in the later Rounds because Yair gases out but Yair has such strong Kicks they can cripple anyone if they land you need to be super Carefull in the first 2 Round and pick him apart and not fool around...
