  • In this episode, we're taking you along as we travel across the country to retrieve a 28-foot Airstream travel trailer, which will serve as our headquarters for the next two years to make a docuseries about airborne firefighters.
While this episode diverges from the main plotline of aerial firefighting, it's a crucial part of the journey. To bring you the most compelling footage and stories, we need to be mobile, able to follow the fire season and aerial firefighters wherever they lead us.
This episode marks the culmination of a long and arduous journey that started back in 2022 when we realized the necessity of mobility for this project and ordered this travel trailer. After months of anticipation and delays, our Airstream finally arrived, but on the opposite coast. We flew across the country to fetch it and drive it back across the country, encountering unexpected twists and turns along the way.

Congratulations on the new truck and trailer! I have the 2020 version of the same exact truck in color, trim, and packages and love it. Looks identical to yours, 34,000 miles so far and its been perfect. No issues and it has become our long distance travel vehicle even when not pulling a trailer because it is so comfortable for long trips. I also just bought a 2017 International 30 from Colonial a month ago. The length and width of the trailer take some getting used to (25 foot plus length models are 6 inches wider than the shorter models) but I'm sure you will adjust quickly. Best of luck on your journeys!

That’s awesome!! Glad to know it’s worked out. It’s a a big purchase to not get to test first so was a bit nerve wracking 😳 and yes the bigger airstream definitely takes a little getting used to. Congrats on yours!! And thank you for the kind words.

It certainly took a bit to adjust to the size of the truck considering my other car is a VW GTI and my wife's car is a Subaru Outback. A big adjustment after the Jeep with such a larger vehicle.
