  • This week, we had the opportunity to meet the airborne firefighters at Cal Fire's Hemet-Ryan Air Attack Base located in Riverside County, California. During the episode, we discuss what aerial resources are called upon for an initial attack, how fire traffic control areas (FTAs) work, and our experience testing cameras in over 100-degree heat. We also provide a sneak peek at some of the actual footage that we captured on the ground for the real docuseries we're working on.

HAHA I just moved someone out of Golden Village and live down the street from there. I watch all day as Cal Fire attacks these fires from Hemet Ryan. I’m in the process of joining the California State Guard as part of Joint Task Force Rattlesnake to go fight them! MEPS date is 09/28, couldn’t be more excited.

New sub today and see I’m one of the early ones! This is going to be popular for sure, look forward to the final doco but will enjoy the behind the scenes for now. Keen to hear more about your usual jobs and how you got to where you are. Also cool to see a Saffa making it in the states! Good luck and I hope it becomes a massive success! From another Saffa pilot in New Zealand 🇳🇿 😎

I sure hope you are gearing up for the 2024 fire season. I love what I've seen so far. Now that you have a better idea of what you are up against, I cannot wait to see more. People in the big cities have no idea what we do in the Cal Fire Aviation community. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for watching!! Yes we are VERY busy prepping for this fire season. Just finished filming a bunch of training. Can’t wait to share more of that. Any other topics you’d like to see in upcoming behind-the-scenes content?

@@AirborneFirefighters I'll wait for you to surprise me. I did enjoy the journey you shared, buying the new truck and picking up the trailer. I'm sure you are extremely busy preparing. Eventually, you should try to make your way up North to check out our facility and how we prepare for the fire season. Our busiest time is in the winter. You're doing a great job. Keep up the good work.
