Love my Sshmute!. No backpain and no complaints from my wife or neighbors!
I love it even more now that I use the ear blocking technique. Great for working on your cleanest articulation, and others
@@TrumpetTNT Def will give this a try! Thank you!
Just stumbled across this. Brilliant. Between this and your free warm-up, definitely worth a cup of coffee.
Hey @kptrpt1! Thank you for the kind words and I really appreciate your gesture also. Watch this space for more tips and tricks 🎺
Need to buy one of this. Have only wah-wah mute. Cheers
Brilliant, will try that, thanks Simon.
Hi Richard. I can't believe that I didn't come across this earlier 😆

Fair doos!
So what does this technique do for you? You didn't explain how it helps.
Hi @kendiggs
🤣 Well spotted! My mistake…
Using earplugs helps you hear yourself much more clearly and helps stop the impulse to overblow when using a practice mute.
How did you fix the links in your description being changed to @ symbol?
Hey! You have the same problem? I switched to using Chrome from Safari as my browser
Great solution for it tho!
Thanks 👍🏼
Interesting I have never even heard of a practice mute
Very handy when in a hotel room (like I am right now) or late at night
how does this work? also thank you
Thanks for a very good question! The basic principle revolves around the sound reverberating through your jawbone, and back into your mouth, nose and ear cavity. This happens anyway when your ears are unblocked, but we don't notice it as we hear the trumpet as normal.
Blocking one's ears also helps overblowing to be heard. The same principle applies when doing a gig with little or no onstage monitoring when surrounded by loud drums and amps. The monitiors help us hear better and we instinctively don't blow so hard in order to hear ourselves.
