He was a genius. I worked for him for 2 summers in Martha's Vineyard with his boat 'Pat's'. Brilliant. A gentleman and a kind soul. RIP. May your beautiful designs with their speed, and graceful lines live forever. ♡
Newik's CHEERS proa placed 3rd in the '68 OSTAR, and his trimarans, like MOXIE and ROGUE WAVE really set the standard for multihull designs. My personal favourite design remains the redoubtable VALs, which Newick described as being"...a Transatlantic daysailor"...

Simply the best. In combination of beauty and performance....for me.
The man's a legend. What a portfolio!
1:58 Dick Newick sitting next to James Wharram. Two legends together. Two european multihull enthusiasts.
Newick was a design genius ,Wharram was a dreamer .
didn't know newick produced a proa and a tri, beautiful design for them both
Che belle barche
What would have Dick done with the super building materials of the 21st century, 30 years ago?
Built Ocean Surfer. At least in buildable boats without strain gauges and all that jazz, balsa core got you most of the way there.
Of ours not so many comments.

Moxie won the Ostar in 1980 with Philip Weld
