I honestly don't know how you get your icing so perfect! I've tried so many times but my cakes always end up on a strange angle and I can never spread the frosting evenly or smooth it with a ruler. How long has it taken you to perfect it like that Elise?
Do you do crumb coats? If not you should try it. If you do use crumb coats you should maybe try adding more frosting or maybe your cake just isn't even.

Crumb coating and adding a lot more frosting than you would normally so you have some to take away to smooth it out

How come you decided to use a vanilla batter for the black? Wouldn't using a chocolate batter require less coloring?
Because thats brown and it looks more effective with black
Dani1998elle I meant using the chocolate as a BASE for the black coloring. It would use less coloring, because you do need a lot of black gel paste in order to dye something *fully* black and not gray. Starting out with a chocolate base would use less color
Maybe it will change the taste? Idk
Since she used the same batter for all the colors, it would be harder, or near impossible, to make all the non-black vibrant colors if you started with a chocolate base
When You Wish Upon a Sprinkle since she used one cake for the black, and one cake for the colors, she could've used one box chocolate, and one box vanilla.

It's just corn flour in England, go to the baking aisle in any supermarket
It could be called cornstarch aswell!
Corn starch is only in th U.S. In England it's called corn flour
