And one of the most UNDERRATED ! I always laugh when i think about how much money Blackmore missed out on by not putting that band back together and hitting the road after grunge started to die off (2003/04) all us 80s heads were so desperate to see a good ol rock show again !
Street of Dreams ' is a classic song that will never be forgotten by the people around my age group. I'm 55 now and I still consider that song one of my all time favorites from that era.
Street of Dreams es una obra maestra. Joe Lynn le dio otra vida a Rainbow, su paso por la banda es coronado con Bent out of shape que me parece excelente.
It's a truly beautiful song Joe. Incredible to think you had it all worked out from a dream! My personal favourite JLT song is "I can't let You Go". It's like little tiny miniature Rock Opera all of it's own. SUPERB. And your vocals on it are off the scale. Also love the "Holy Man" album. It ROCKS! You're one of my all time top rock vocalists, with Freddie Mercury, Lou Gramm and others❤
Street of Dreams is a classic Rainbow song, & Joe is right. Even Ritchie Blackmore in an interview, said that every time he hears that song being played, he is proud to be associated with it. Also Joe, meeting up & marrying the woman you dreamt about, was meant to be that's for sure. 🙂🙂
@@Star-Explorers I read long ago that it was due to content and here is what was found according to Blackmore's bio: "According to Blackmore's biography on his official website, the music video for "Street of Dreams" was banned by MTV for its supposedly controversial hypnotic video clip." This was posted over at Wikipedia. I had heard it from other sources. Seems so silly.
Joe is so good and he's worked with so many great musicians. I know he does well in Europe and Russia. I just wish he would play in the States with even medium sized tours. I missed my chance to see him play Texas twice in 2016!
What a cool story, I'm not famous but I've also received songs in my dreams so scramble to get up late at night to grab my Sony digital recorder to put the idea down before it escapes me. Joe seems a deep individual in the often shallow world of Rock.
People seem to be dissing Joe in favor of Ronnie and while Dio is my favorite Rainbow singer, I can attest to this: Joe sang the Dio Rainbow songs better than Graham Bonnet, Doogie White or Ronnie “Oversaturated and Overrated” Romero and he can still do it!! That’s no mean feat.
That's how you know you're totally in the zone, when you start writing songs in your sleep. I've had that experience myself, several times. It's a total blessing.
I never paid much attention to 'Rainbow'; but the one song of theirs that did catch my attention was "If You Don't Like Rock N Roll (it's too late now)". If I remember correctly, it has Ronnie James Dio on lead vocals. My late older brother was a singer/songwriter/guitarist. Back in '70-'71', he was the guitarist for Buddy Miles. They played the Montreux Festival, 1971, at, what I believe is the same show that gave us 'Smoke On The Water' (you can find a film of their performance on youtube). Years later, someone brought Ritchie Blackmore over to my brother's house (in Connecticut), whereupon they got into an argument, and my brother threw him out of his house. But strangely enough, shortly thereafter, he got a phone call from Ritchie Blackmore, inviting him to go to Germany; just them, their guitars, and some portable amps. I lost my brother to cancer about 4 years ago. He had been at Jimi Hendrix's funeral back in the fall of '70, and purportedly who had also been there was: Tommy Bolin. One of the last things Tommy did alive was a song he wrote called "People, People". He came up with this while he was still in Deep Purple, and it was originally entitled "Brother, Brother".
My top 3 fav Songs Joe sang on would be #1 Yngwie Malmsteen's 1988 Rock chart hit "Heaven Tonight" #2 Rainbow's "Street of Dreams" #3 Rainbow's "Stone Cold"
I have a similar story related to my last daughter. My wife and I had two girls, we were pretty sure about not having any more kids, but I always felt uncomplete, empty. Once I told her that I was feeling like I traveled to the future and I meet my whole family and then back to the past I know that someone is missing. I also felt like I loved someone who was erased from my brain but my heart still loved her. I never had that feeling of emptiness after having our third and last little girl, she was the one who was missing in my life. I believe there is something magical in dreams, since I've had several premonitions come true soon after, though this kind of experience freights me. It is curious that I liked Street of Dreams and Dreaming w/ Malmsteen since I didn't know english to understand what they were about.
Saw Joe Lynn Turner on his Rescue You Tour 1985 at the Paradise in Boston. Same show where his Rescue You Live 1985 CD was recorded. Great, great show at the old Paradise Theater, now Paradise Rock Club.
Street of Dreams was a great song but best Rainbow song for me was Stargazer cant beat the DIO years, also Well done to JLT for revealing he wears a wig , that took courage as a lot of other old rock stars wont admit that and i was shocked to learn JLT is 71 years old how the hell did that happen ? as i remember him always being a young man and the crazier thing is he was born around same year as my late dad 1951 totally mind blown
@@VRPRocks Yeah goes fast but JLT looks great and I never knew he had worn a Wig since 15 years of age due to alopecia so another shock to me that was.
I can relate with his story, I have a very similar one. I saw the one that now is my wife in a dream. Yes, Street Of Drams is my favorite song of All times because of that.
Love that song and I really love your contribution to when you where on the Deep Purple album. Lot of people say bad things about that album and I've been a fan of Deep Purple since I was 11 year's old and mowed lawns so I could buy my first album ever made in Japan but king of dream's is an awesome album and I love the cut runs deep
The man hasn't had a bad band in the lot; Rainbow, Rising Force, Deep Purple, Mother's Army, HTP, Sunstorm, Fandango (not to even mention all his fantastic solo work) make up a more solid catalog than most rockers from back in his day. Never heard the story behind Street of Dreams before but it truly is a magical story. Happy to see he ended up with a good life.
My favorite has always been Stone Cold. Fun fact is I worked at the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis when Jealous Lover was recorded. Met lots of equipment guys but nobody from the band. Plus, I found out afterwards Clapton was there which would have been cool to meet him too.
This song is special to me as hell too, Joe! You wrote this from your dreams, I'll say my resonance to this song as well! "Do you remember me, on the street of dreams" I had a girl, I used to see on the bus stop, on my and her way to college, I was 17/18 at that time, she was also of similar age. Then, I was searching her home around the probable area for months, I found it after recognizing her sister. So, I saw her on the street of dreams, Once. Once, I called out her name (I waited her outside of her home from Feb 7 2019 to Feb 14 2019) Then, coincidentally on Feb 14 after much courage then went blank. I wanted to watch her from some distance forever, afraid to get close but also didn't want to be far away. Even now, my time is stuck in those street of dreams!!! I was such a fu**king cunt back then! My weakness is, was, forever will be my greatest regret in all of my lives! Can't forget, Can't forgive myself but this pain has and is making me a lot stronger, I never want to see another guy in a powerless position like mine!!! Got to conquer the world and change it!!!
JLT era is definitely my fave era of Rainbow. Phenomenal voice and songs. My pick is Stone Cold. First heard that song when I was in 7th grade and I remember thinking "this is one of the coolest fuc*ing songs I've ever heard'. And I still feel that way. His work on the Deep Purple Masters and Slaves album is criminally underrated. That album is better than anything else DP has put out since by light years.
With total respect to Dio & Bonnet, this guy was the definitive voice of Rainbow...for me. It got kind of poppy in the 80's, sure, but his voice was sweet as honey and more nuanced than Dio's bombastic screaming or Bonnet's throaty tone. Probably the best singer Ritchie Blackmore ever recorded with including Ian Gillian and Glenn Hughes. For me, the whole Difficult to Cure album is insanely good, but Street of Dreams was so "MTV" that I never gave it it's due. Very memorable and melodic to be sure...It's clear Ritchie and JLT made a great songwriting team.
Dio’s bombastic screaming? WTF? Apparently, you just like the softer side of music. Go listen to Catch the Rainbow, Rainbow Eyes or Temple of the King and then we’ll talk. I’ll wait…
Hello Joe l y n n Turner I like the song All on The Street of dreams it's my favorite even Stone Cold the whole rainbow album I like every one of them and deep purple and your solo music I like a l l real good music from your friends Tom darling
Love Street of Dreams! Another great JLT ballad is Love Conquers All from the Slaves and Masters album (Deep Purple). Joe can write and sing with the best of ‘em! Still!
Definitely agree with JLT about spirituality , I always can tell a good or bad person , I can sense good or evil in them its weird and hard to explain, sadly there's a lot of negative bad people in the UK where i live nowadays , not good.

I liked him on Heaven Tonight with Malmsteen, that was awesome.
I like Street of Dreams but I Cant Let you go is my favorite Rainbow ballad

Exactly my opinion, as well. And then Stone Cold...

Death Alley Driver for me 🙌🏻
