Torchic is solid for a starter actually because wattson is a run killer n torchic is very good against him
Mudkip is insane really, if you used one you know
Treeko is trash like really bad n it's worse considering you have a TON of Excellent grass types in game like cradily, cacturne, vileplume, roserade, tropius, and ludicolo
Zigzagoon is the item slave basically with pickup, unless it has Excellent attack iv n hp ivs then it's not usable
Taillow comes online as soon as you evolve it n it is decent in general, but it's a glass cannon in every sense
Lotad is really good actually and great against the evil team no matter who it is n makes Flannery very easy with water sport
Only roserade n vileplume are better
Nincada i actually don't like it because ninjask is crap because you won't have any of its good moves until basically the pokemon league
Shendinja is also bad because every gym has a reliable way to ko it n it's too slow
Makuhita would have been great actually had you not RIP it
Manectric is meh actually, because it learns physical attack moves but it's a special attacker
And to fact check pchal, only the mega gets intimidate not the pre evolution but static n lightning rod are good abilities, minus it can get too unfortunately
I have an obvious gripe with wattson fight why not just lead combusken with cheri berry n eliminate the magnemite
Then pivot linoone mud sport
Second obvious gripe LEVEL ALL your pokemon to the level cap unless it's only useful to sack it
honestly his starter lost to wattson is really bad unless he gets geodude
Geodude is excellent for multiple reasons, evolves early, magnitude Is really good, great attack n defense, just obviously don't leave it in vs a water or grass type
Seriously wtf 13 minutes in, gets Roselia and numel n geodude (I need to bring that guy to the casino lol) numel gets really good moves when it evolves n it can mega
Roselia is good for obvious reasons late game. It's on Cynthia's team so you know it's broken somehow
Alot of these deaths are preventable by reading the type chart on serebii n yes wolfey uses that site
Saves you alot from stupid moments
AGAIN why aren't you leveling to the cap at the gym caps 28 btw n I see 2 unevolved mons for some reason
Loses one pokemon to Norman
Me: Norman busts out 100 percent crit rate max roll hacks n almost wipes me no seriously I have the worst luck vs that guy unless I have pelipper or dustox where I can just toxic protect
The gloom death was really stupid for multiple reasons
Number 1 poison is weak to psychic
Number 2 THERES A F#$%ING leaf stone on the SAME ROUTE you caught it on n vileplume is a huge upgrade
Number 3 couldn't he have CAUGHT or fished an encounter by the gym there are 4 routes he could have found an encounter
Number 4 n this is a personal secret, YOU SAVE the petalburg city encounter after you get super rod, this is to manip corphish encounter WHICH IS BUSTED for the rest of the game with swords dance shell armor
Fun fact that sharpedo has speed boost n mega sharpedo has base 140 attack n strong jaw which is a more busted version of guts with fang moves
The correct play vs the walrein was to stay in with tentacruel actually and ko the walrein
On drake I probably would have never guessed he had thunder fang on salamence
That being said you should have dragon pulse or at bare minimum dragonbreath on Latias
Also the death might have been prevented had aggron been alive
To respond to pchal comment on dog sht encounters he could've done 100 times worse
A poochyena instead of Taillow
Ie zubat instead of Makuhita
A BUG instead of Roselia or oddish
Slugma instead of numel
Anything else on that route besides geodude
Spinda is trash he got screwed there could have had skarmory (really good)
Machop is trash I do concur it will be decent for Norman however who is a run killer for noobs, then again there are no good encounters besides spoink n even that's not great
Gloom is the ONE HUNDRED percent best encounter on that route, tropius is the other good encounter
Lairon is the worst thing he could have had because medicham n hariyama n exploud were eligible encounters
Crit on aggron definitely saved him vs Steven
Also Steven should not have had giga impact
Why not meteor mash for attack boost
So you might not believe it, but in his next attempt at a nuzlocke hes even worse. if im not mistaken I think he thought that exeggutor/tentacruel was an electric type
Bruh pokemon unbound i insanely hard if you start the game ask you, say that you already played it so that u can choose insane mode
I'd like to point out, he won the game, *despite thinking that Ghost types couldn't be hit by physical moves*
Ok, that’s hilarious.
To be fair, that's a gen one quirk that didn't exactly pan out. It was promoted as such but didn't get programmed in that way.
@@Undomaranel Gen 1 to 5 both Cynthia and Ghetsis use ghosts to stall physical attack teams.
Oh yea, RBY had a ton of glitches. One of them made ghost type move still affect normal type pokemon
Ya know logically it makes sense
7:30 I love how peanut butter is screaming, “NOOOHOOOHOO, FRANK!!!” in sorrow for the loss of a team member and Pokémon challenges is just like, “yeah meditite does a lot a damage it has the huge power ability”🤣

“Cowabummer.”
“Right in this spot, my Frank was knocked out.”
“Right in this spot, your Frank was knocked out.”
That specific Meditite has fucked me up more than I'd like to admit.
Extra context since it was removed:
- Bee the crobat was slightly ev trained in speed and attack via vitamins
- He only use M-Latias against steven, as he said he'd use latias but ban the Mega for most of the game
I'm honestly impressed a Pokemon newbie flying blind knew how good Crobat is.

I forgot he did this blind and it makes it all the more impressive, regardless of the outcome. As you said, he learned from silly common mistakes and took it in stride. Good stuff
yeah, I first thought he was making stupid mistakes, but then when I realized he played the game blind, it all made way more sense
I love how he named the tentacool useless and later found out what a great pokemon that is!

Obviously PBG made some rookie mistakes every now and then, but l think it's very praise-worthy how he took his mistakes in stride, and how he managed to make it through in the end. Many people who don't nuzlocke for their living could get annoyed after some of their mons died (especially if you really liked it) and might just decide to give up, but PBG stuck to it no matter what, and especially on a first nuzlocke thats very commendable :]
PBG did a lot of hardcore type games (such as minecraft hardcore) which is actually why he was suggested to do a Nuzlocke. Permadeath is something he was used to, POKEMON is something he isn't.

Jan didn't elaborate on what he meant by the double yawn being an AI classic, so for anybody confused: the AI often predicts the player will switch out their drowsy pokemon into another party member to avoid full sleep, which means the one coming in gets drowsy too. Make sure to plan for that if you can't afford to let the current potential sleep victim stay in.

Even though it is old, this nuzlocke is by far my favorite one to this day. I remember coming back from school and waiting for this man to upload the video. What made it so great is how inexperienced pbg was with the game. He almost always got the name of the Pokemon wrong and threw multiple times, but you knew he was trying his very best. When he got to the elite four it was so unexpected and hype. To this day i still nickname my crobats Bee cause of this playthrough
this was SUCH A FUN PLAYTHROUGH to watch back when it came out. i still call kyogre "keyogrey" because of this.
This was actually such a good one. It was really good to see him improve, especially as someone who recently got into more serious Pokemon.

This nuzlocke series is my favorite series on UA-cam. Every twist and turn, it's such a nostalgic trip for me. It's a perfect encapsulation of what Pokemon playthroughs should be: a person exploring the world of Pokemon the way they want to. Who gives a crap if they click the wrong move every now and then? Who cares if they use a legendary? They're having the time of their life, and making new friends. It doesn't have to be a cold, calculating experience. It's supposed to be gut-wrenching to lose a Pokemon on its own merits, not just because it sets you up in a bad position. It's pure. It's so wholesome.
Also LAWLUP
Pokemon is so ingrained in popular culture, it really is interesting to watch someone unfamiliar with it learning in real time. It's like actually landing an updog, it's so rare nowadays.

Also if we’re digging up older nuzlocke runs I would really recommend Griffin McElroy’s hardcore nuzlock of Pokémon Y on the Polygon channel. Actually, the correct play at the end there with the Metagross was to attack it after it had giga impacted. See, giga impact forces the user to recharge the next turn. That means that the user can’t switch out or use items. So when PBG survived the giga impact and put the metagross at red HP, there was literally no reason to attack the following turn. Steven couldn’t have healed his ace even if he had more potions left. But instead, PBG used recover and gave the Metagross a free shot at him which ultimately led to his Latias being Crit and dying. PBG legitimately lost his mega legendary one turn before he won the Nuzlocke because he chose to not kill the last Pokémon when it couldn’t do anything and then gave said Pokémon a chance to kill him. I honestly think that part at the very end pretty much summarizes this entire Nuzlocke: losing Pokémon because you didn’t know the game and got punished for making bad decisions.
