I LOVE Taylor Swift but I think we as swifties need to (respectfully) notice her flaws. Nothing good comes from constant praise and no constructive criticism. I’m sure I’ll agree and disagree to some of the Taylor opinions, but otherwise I think it’s a good convo to have. Thank you, majestic!

So I’m only 10 mins in, and while I’ve gotten on and off the Taylor Train since her debut (but have never been a super fan or anything) and as of rn listen to some of her music but don’t have much of an opinion on her personally, I think there’s this weird sort of extremism when it comes to opinions about Taylor. It’s like people think she’s either The Second Coming of the Lord and can do no wrong or she’s the literal Spawn of Satan herself. Maybe she f*cked up with the whole Kim/Kanye song thing, but it’s not like she was completely lying. Kim released an EDITED video of the phone call that completely shifted the narrative and tone of their conversation away from what actually took place. With Taylor being as mega-famous as she is, I could very easily see her getting swept up in the public outrage and feeling like she sort of has to go along with it because if she doesn’t, then people will be like “how could you have let him do that??? we thought you were a feminist, we thought you had more self respect than that, we didn’t think you would knowingly associate with/be friends with a monster like Kanye West, etc”. AND I would imagine it would be easier to go along with it because the stuff she said wasn’t that far off from the truth.
Let’s also remember that she has an entire team of managers, agents, and publicists who tell her what to say and how/when to say it, and I’m sure that when you have a team of trusted professionals whose entire job it is is to tell you the right things to say in specific situations, it’s really easy to doubt your instincts and instead just go with what everyone’s telling you to do, especially since she’s been living that way since she was FIFTEEN (and we all know what growing up as a child star can do to you).
I think people tend to leap to the conclusion that any time a celebrity f*cks up and does something asshole-ish (just to be clear, this is not referring to any sort of legitimately harmful behavior like SA, abuse, etc) it’s a calculated, hateful move, when in reality, it’s most likely just a person doing/saying something stupid because they’re not perfect. It’s just that when that happens, it seems like SUCH a big deal because it ends up taking place on such a massively public scale due to their fame.
I also think people constantly shaming her for “having SO many exes” and “ALL of her songs being about her bfs” are really out of pocket. Like yeah she writes about love and relationships like literally every other musician ever. The only difference is that Taylor is one of the most famous people in the world, and as a result, people are more aware of who her songs are about than with other artists’ songs. Everything she does is under a microscope, so everyone ALWAYS knows who she’s dating and when their relationship takes/took place. I would also like to point out that I just looked it up and she was with her last bf, Joe Alwyn, for six years. She put out plenty of music in that time and clearly she wasn’t writing about all the guys she was dating/breaking up with then.
Again, I’m not particularly a fan of hers and for all I know about her actual personality, she could very well not be a nice person. I just think that the major arguments about Taylor’s character (aka the ones mentioned above) aren’t good enough arguments to say she’s not a good person. Even from the very beginning of her career, there has been a very real, pervasive sexism surrounding the discourse regarding Taylor Swift, and I think it has become (knowingly or unknowingly) deeply embedded in almost every reason people give for not liking her (as a person, not just her music). Combined with our weird tendency to put celebrities on these God-like pedestals and then losing our shit when they prove themselves to be mere mortals, I feel like she gets a bad rap.
Anyway, I know that was an actual dissertation (holy shit), but I always think the conversation surrounding Taylor Swift is really interesting.

i just want to correct you that taylor was not lying at all in her comments about kim because that video kim posted was EDITED. there’s a full un edited video that got leaked a couple years later i think. another thing is taylor didn’t drop a whole 4 albums if we mean literal she dropped only 2. she had to re record all her original 6 albums because scooter braun stole her music so whoever streams those albums she gets absolutely no money from that. the thank you aimee song was not just bringing up the past for fun it was reflecting on how what kim did was wrong but what kim did set taylor up for the amazing future she has. so she was saying f you but again thanking her. taylor didn’t say anything bad about north she just said north would go home singing songs only taylor and kim know is about kim. it’s nothing rude towards north but yea. also idk where you’re getting her talking abt exes from 10/15 years ago because taylor’s recent music is about her mental health and relationships at the moment. some of midnights was about her ex joe that she just recently broke up with and then ttpd had some songs about him, herself, matty healy and that’s it. nothing about her recent music is about exes from years ago. if you actually listen to her music like folklore and evermore etc not all her music is about relationships. taylor actually did say on tour during a sprach to not attack anyone because these are old songs about old exs and she doesn’t care anymore if you google that you should find it because it was during the speak now taylor’s version announcement.
adding on to this all of taylor’s songs do not sound the same at all… please listen to cruel summer then clean then welcome to new york then this is me trying then bad blood then bigger than the whole sky like none of her songs sound the same lol. correcting again she doesn’t have a skincare line lol. i’m not going to write anymore but the hate on her is extremely forced and people really make up stuff and it’s sad. she’s clearly not a mean girl and there’s so much proof of that. everyone around her circle or just anyone who’s met her all have good things to say about her. if she was so evil there would’ve been things about her before she was as big as she was now. she’s done nothing but support and uplift others. yes she does have flaws as everyone else does and i get constrictive criticism but sometimes it goes from that to full on hating her with no valid and actual facts about her.

My nephew is a hard core fan and he could not find one piece of evidence of Taylor saying to back off from her exs AFTER her album dropped

@@asmrmajestic3827 yes i’m a swiftie i have been for awhile. the stuff i am saying is true tho ive been a fan of hers for awhile and i can tell what’s right and wrong. im not biased in this just because i like her. i can notice her flaws everyone does even her fans. i didn’t say a flaw about her in this because i am replying to the first 20 minutes of your video which most of it is made up…. i know she is not perfect no one is and i can name flaws but that’s def not the point of this convo rn. if i watched more i could probably write about that as well. yes there are some hardcore crazy fans every fan base has that but most of us aren’t like that lol. taylor never ever said she didn’t speak to kanye there are tweets and proof she just said kanye never said he was calling her a bitch as you can see in that unedited phone call. they did speak because she knew but she was upset that they secretly recorded their convo and went on to edit that conversation on top of that because it is wrong. joe alwyn and matty yes are now from her past ttpd was written a year ago when she just broke up with joe who she was with for almost 7 years and then she was writing that album when she was with matty. it is clear she added more songs on later when she got with travis like the alchemy and so high school are about him. a lot of songs on that album are not about exes tho like clara bow, the prophecy, peter, cassandra, robin i can go on tbh. i was saying she didn’t write songs about exes from years ago bc she was literally just with joe then matty so it was recent. the skincare thing is so dumb because many people ask how her skin is so clear so she told us her skincare routine. yes it is expensive but if people are asking her ofc she’s going to tell us. yes not everyone attended the concert but i wasn’t at that show either and i saw tons of videos online. she was telling them to stop hating on old exes if she’s over it they should be over it too. ofc people will ignore that but yk as much as she says something people still won’t stop. also honestly the hate towards most of her exes is wrong except john mayer does deserve hate because that man was 30 and was all over a 19 year old (the 19 year old being taylor so). none of her exes shut down their socials. yes joe alwyn did turn off his comments because of crazy fans and it is wrong but she told everyone to stop

i love taylor and am a longtime fan and i agree with some of what you said. however i did want to point out that at one of her shows last year she asked swifties to not attack one of her exes whom she sings of in her rerelease of the album Speak Now. swifties definitely take it upon themselves to attack the people she sings about and taylor herself doesn’t necessarily condone it
Amen! There are many things I dislike about her but the way she very intentionally leans into the already toxic parasocial relationship with her fans (for profit) is genuinely disgusting. Some of these people are being driven to psychosis 💀. Not to mention her mediocre talent. But I think she makes it very easy for a lot of different people to project upon her image and work.

I mean that’s not really true tho? Firstly, with her pop albums you will see some patterns within her music due to the fact it is pop… pop music often follows a similar pattern with chord progressions. Considering she is an artist who has covered multiple genres successfully, using the same 4 chords in nearly every song just isn’t fact. Yes there is an overlap… she’s released over 270 songs and some do have a similar catchy chord progression, but overall, the majority of her songs don’t sound similar, especially with her more recent albums

I’m 20 mins in and I agree with everything you’ve said so far, the problem with her going at kim is beyond insane because the problem was Kanye so why you not going after him? Kim defended her husband and showed you as a liar… realistically Kim did absolutely nothing wrong and your targeting her and laughing about her daughter not knowing the song is wrote about her when the whole world knows who it’s about, she absolutely is a snake, Kanye made her a “victim” and she has rode that personality all the way to the bank! I’m a big fan of her music and have been a fan of her since I was very little as it’s one of the only things my dad and I bonded on before he passed. I will say, Taylor, as a person, is not without flaws. She doesn’t speak on serious issues for fear of losing profit. And that’s despicable.
The Kim and kanye drama is ridiculous. I think kanye was cruel to a kid and Kim thought it would make her more popular to do the same; Taylor seemingly moved on and the drama seemed below her which I thought was fantastic! But now it’s like she’s gone back down to that ridiculous level. It’s icky.
The fan base can be INSANE, not the whole fan base but definitely a chunk of it. The only other fan base that acts the same way is Beyoncé’s fans; I’m a HUGE Beyoncé fan, love her music. I'm not a Taylor fan. I don't like her music and I've never cared for her personality. I think she should be mad at Kanye, not Kim. It is petty mean girl stuff to go after the woman. Kanye is the man who stole Taylor's moment all that time ago, and he's the one who released the song after telling Taylor he'd run it by her before it was released. If anything, be annoyed at Kanye. It reminds me of when a girl's bf cheats and she gets more mad at the woman rather than her cheating bf who made the promise. Taylor needs to redirect her energy. Lol the hate for Folklore is real 😅. Anyway I'm an "older" person who never really listened to Taylor until Folklore and now I'm hooked. I think for me, people overly idolize her. I just see her as a regular person who sings about her real life experiences. She is not perfect and has ever right to express herself how she feels fit. TTPD I believe may be some new stuff that shes written, but I full heartedly believe it's stuff she written over her career and is releasing is now because she is just ready to move on with her life. Sometimes we, as people, have to bring the past up later in life just to truly let go of it. Im not a die hard, again, im in my 40s and still bring up shit from my past because im still healing so why cant she do the same? Why?? Because people idolize her so much. Just take a step back and say how would u handle a break up, female drama, or any of the other BS she deals with.

It actually recently came out that Kim had that conversation altered to make Taylor look like she was lying. That's why Taylor was trending 2 years ago because the Internet found out😅 so in the past few years of realizing this... She writes her album and in that process writes about her experience. I honestly don't see the problem with that tbh
To your second point... I think that I could agree A little bit to the fact that she should tell them to relax. I mean where I would disagree is that... Again, niggas like Drake or any other rapper can write about girls and it's no problem at all but if it's Taylor she has to chill because she should've moved on by now? Auntie….. not all Taylor swift songs are the same. That is a big misconception about her. She is very creative…. In Fearless she talks about how a white horse brings her comfort, She talks about in out of the woods being in the woods, in evermore she talks about how champagne helps her deal with her problems. I am a swiftie and I have to admit a lot of her songs are about love but in different ways, getting together, if you should “stay stay stay” or not if you should “never get back together” or if “this love” is “forever and always”. And she talks about experiencing in different ways. But as I said even though I am a swiftie I hate folkore and I think she can be money hungry.

There is not "good billionaire" because just the fact that you have that much money while others are dying is not fair, and using a jet? ok security but you must know in which condition is currently the planet on.
And on top of that the new album was good in lyrics but had 2 problems.

2. She blame her ex for having depression and no be all hyped for her and then say what in that song about Kim.
i completely agree with the excess use of private jets, but for every city she’s been to on the eras tour she donates a healthy sum of money to food banks! there’s ovs other things she could use her billions as well but i feel like it’s things like this that the media don’t look into and focus on things like the fumes she lets off from her jets but there are SO meny other celebrities that are above her on the list of most use for there private jets but iv personally never seen anyone talking about those celebrities? i think all celebrities on that list should be accountable not just taylor swift
