2023 MEYC

On November 3-4, 2023, early learning and child care professionals gathered in Victoria, BC for the Métis Early Years Conference hosted by MNBC's Ministry of Education.
Early learning and child care professionals have a central role in caring for our children. They keep children safe, nurture their curiosity and prepare them for a lifetime of learning and growth.
Learning about Métis culture and identity is vital to the well-being and belonging of Métis children and their families. Fostering a safe learning environment with Métis-specific content and approaches will support the cultural identity of Métis children because they will see themselves reflected in the learning environment and programs. Their Métis culture and heritage needs to be recognized and respected.
