I can't believe they get away by not disclosing their wealth. the late queen refused to pay for windsor castle when it went up in flames. since windsor was open to the public so they could get back the money they paid for renovations. current king decided to pay proper tax two years ago while the rest of mortals had no choice but to pay. I am surprised p. william did not want to disclose how much he had on his piggy bank. instead he donated some land (duchy of cornwall). I have huge problem with how greedy they truly are

Yeah. Considering all the problems the UK faces, I'm surprised they're still getting away with it.
Not to mention the utter lack of true patriotism on their side. How selfish can you be? They had these unfathomable riches just handed to them, but do they use that to improve things for their country?
Nope. I don't expect 'morally upstanding' behavior from big corporations. But royalty (as far as it's still allowed to exist) should show more gratitude towards the population that is the very foundation of their status and wealth.

I've always felt that many charities in Britain were more like businesses. It turns out that those wealthy patrons are the biggest beneficiaries, both in terms of money and in terms of PR. The real benefits are paying no IHT and no CGT. The CT on 27M+23M = 50M combined net income is only about 12.5M a year. That's the same amount of tax as would be generated on only one higher rate CGT chargeable transaction gain of about 50M at the new 24% rate. The duchies will be making many, many times more in capital gains per year than that. The market value of the assets would beggar belief and the IHT foregone from their exempt status equally so; although that being said, the duchies assets would probably be settled into trusts which would continue intact when the beneficiaries change through the laws of succession

The historians I've read explain this quite differently [best: read "The Crown & The Establishment" by Kingsley Martin]. The "government" didn't "take control" of the "Crown Estate." The lands that comprise what is now called the Crown Estate were part of an exchange between the king and his government during George III's reign. Up to the point of this arrangement, the monarch was in charge of ensuring the various parts of government, including the military, got paid, got financed, etc. The monarch drew from various treasuries to do this. The arrangement was for the government to take responsibility for these tasks, drawn from the profits of the newly minted Crown Estate, and pay the monarch a share of these profits - the CIVIL LIST. Since this is only a contract between reigning monarch and government, the agreement expires at the end of the reign. Up until Elizabeth II, the contract established the Civil List expenditures for the whole reign, so George III's, William IV's, Victoria's, Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, and George VI's had set Civil List allowances. Elizabeth's had to be amended several times and renamed. For the first time, we witnessed the formalizing of this contract when Charles III addressed the Accession Council, where he said he would continue the agreement. Legally speaking, a monarch could begin his/her reign and NOT agree. Like these duchies, the Crown Estate is the property of the monarch, not the government.

A word to those sitting in secret chambers trying to figure a way to shine this particular flavour of vulgarity... don;t bother.. nothing you can do can stop any of what is hidden being made visible. We wont be entering into any new compromises with this level of criminal cartel.. that was never the deal.. they have moved themselves into a situation where they own us and everything we engage with.. And make no mistake.. the collapsing of social welfare and housing is UNLAWFUL SURVIELANCE.. Hosuing associations and councils need to get their faces out of the private and family lives of those they house.. Their job is to MANAGE PROPERTY not manage the people who live inthe property.. this is a human rights violation that is ONLY designed to enable the state to take elders, the infirm and children.. which is all done by the Crown.. ALL SOCIAL CARE CONTRACTS for housing need to END and the iNTEGRATED WORKING that allows for the crown to use agents to kidnap people.. Hosuing chiefs all are acting criminally right now.. all emplying EQUANS to rigg properties as death traps... and those who complain get taken...
