Congratulations! Kids are blessings at any age and even more fun when they come out for rides with dad! Enjoy! We had our canola do that. We swathed it and baled it in round bales. Fed it to our cows. That crop was adjusted out by crop adjuster before we baled it.

When bringing a young human in for the winter you must remember four things. 1. Find a place for longest sun exposure. 2. Make sure pot is large enough for the young human. 3. Make sure provide moisture in air ensure young human doesn't dry out. 4. Avoid excess water and fertilizer, that may lead to bigger cleanup job in spring. Congratulations!😄

It amazes me how thick that kochia can grow. On our farm it mainly grows around the perimeters of the fields, I've never seen it overtake the entire field like that. Big Brute looks awesome with his new tank. I am always impressed with you guys fabricating skills and how you can put basically anything together from scratch. Keep up the good work!

My Boer goats would’ve cleared the ground around the bins to the dirt in 2-3 days. My neighbors borrowed them, fenced them in areas they couldn’t get a mower. They cleared the ground & left some free fertilizer. Our house & barn were built in the woods on 11.5 acres, only about 2 acres cleared UNTIL we built the barn (done the old fashioned Amish way) & got goats.

How about moving the ladder to the front and changing the door to open the other way then you don’t need to duck under the boom or support. Winter project ☃️

Lots of hard work! (You and your wife!) Can you raise the boom perch? Booms wouldn't sit level, but unless you have to clear a bridge or low door it would work. Another option: rotate the perches back 30 degrees or so. You'd need to extend them a bit to get the side-side width back.

Nick, @7:54 , better cut some 1/4” strips, (out of some old belting or something rubber) and put them between the hyd tank, and angle iron to truck frame. It will cause the tank to crack if you don’t. Please let me know if they are already in there, I couldn’t see them. 👍

We battle kochia in North Dakota. Put 2 oz of valor down this fall on all your ground except next year’s barley and canola. It takes a fall rain but does wonders. And it’s cheap

Congrats on Skywalker and mother. Kill the kosha and set afire so it doesn't set you further back... never ending. I think that there some kind of animals that like that weed so import them. I do think that is how some countries got overwhelmed with rabbits or kangaroos .... always something... I do know that waking up to twenty above here in alaska was a chilling experience for me as the night before was 46 degrees and considered a lot nicer camping weather. God bless

Why don’t you actually burn with Fire? It seems that it would be much cheaper; essentially free, unless there is an issue with that and the government. Or is it because it doesn’t destroy all the seeds? Also, welcome to the newest Welker!

It depends on variety of canola , but usually if its ready to hardest, after 2-3 weeks or after heavy storm pods will open and all the seeds will end up on the ground. At least European varietys do that

    Careful with that vent
I had a setup like that
Once it over flows and you shut off the pump the venturi affect keeps drawing liquid out of the tank but there's nothing going in
Ended up sucking the tank in till I realised and opened the lid to let air in
Cracked the top of the tank
You need an air vent at the top as well as an overflow tube
Good idea in theory but a disaster in waiting

Just South of you down here on the Palouse we pretty much had similar conditions and most of the canola got beat up from the hail storms as well but we don't see it as a big loss if we don't get to harvest it because of how well it helps replenish the soil that and clover.

To bad there's no use for these weeds, they grow so well with no effort but the stuff we want, we have to do so much to keep the weeds away. I like the idea of organic farming and not in favor of herbicides etc., but I know this is a lot of weeds that have to be controlled.
