  • This past week, I attended the APRIL (Association of Programs for Independent Living) Conference in Anaheim, California with the Lead On Collaborative. While at the conference, I was reminded of what I love most about the disabled community: interdependence. I saw people helping others carrying objects, guiding people, and just being generally accommodating. I think we could all benefit from practicing interdependence and realizing that we are all interconnected.

What, the APRIL conference is not in April?! I'm disappointed!
Seriously though, great video! I absolutely agree, interdependence is amazing! I wish I had more of it in my life. The only example I can think of is that I help my French teacher with computer problems and she helps me learn French.

I feel like interdependence and mutual aid are very linked and capitalism and American individualsim are in direct opposition to both.

Alright, who's got the graphic design skills to make the "Fully Interdependent Luxury Crip Communism" merch? We can give the proceeds to mutual aid orgs.

The part when you talking about you feeling ashamed for asking for help is mainly because of society. I was real stubborn when it came to help until one of my close friends. Parents told me when I was 23 years old. Look you’re just not going to be able to do everything yourself because it’s not possible regardless of how society wants to make it seem in the media and everything else.
