As a collector of old puukkos and other knives, this was very interesting and impressive to watch. And there was almos a zen like calm in the video production values as well, not everything needs spoken narration. I especially liked that you apparently put a scandi grind on the edges (as opposed to apple seed or somesuch), exactly like we usually do on our puukkos here in Finland.

Thank you kindly. I didn't do a true scandi grind but I do take the bevel down very thin before putting on a very small secondary bevel. If poeple wanted to sharpen it down to a scandi it wouldn't take much.

I don't see many people do that apoxy thing with mixing it into the handle left overs to make blind in. Very good trick

Looks like he's crushing the fire scale from the forging process. Maybe charcoal.

Always nice to see a good, functional video of knife making. The stuff that keeps you fed, not as much an impossible to recreate piece of art.

Thank you! Yeah I really enjoy making simple knives too. More fancy stuff coming though ;)

Looking forward to seeing the next batch of these being in your shop. I bought a Helle knife a few years ago that is similar in design, and I like it for the rustic aesthetic and utilitarian design.

Dude I’ve got to know. How old are you?
I ask, because I’ve watched for a while, and in the beginning when it was less full(ish) body and more hand shots I just assumed from the skill and artistry you were an old man having done this forever.
    And clearly not the case.
I’d love to see a video about how you learned all this, what inspired you to, etc

He's a pretty young guy. There was at least one video where he speaks and you could tell he was quite young at the time.

Very beautiful puukos! i was very surprised to see one still available so i snagged it, cant wait to get it! I make knives as well, just stock removal but would definitely like to learn how to forge.

Are there practical reasons not to have a finger guard on these? I have one like this and the lack of guard makes me a little nervous doing anything too heavy with it.
Is the handle bog oak? This is the best looking handle and sheath in a while.

Thanks mate. It's just the style of our knives here. some have a small bump before the blade, others (like mine) transition straight from blade into handle. Most of the time I use these types of knives I'm holding it with the blade facing towards me, so I use the leverage of bracing against my chest. You know the technique probably. Feels quite safe to me :)

Dang i dont get it. How do all these guys make everything so perfect? I mean like i make good knives, both quality and craftsmanship wise but i see all these guys around my age (17-25) just putting out absolutely top notch stuff and no matter how hard i try i just cant seem to reach that level.
Nice work anyway man, your stuff is awesome!

Dedication, and probably learnt from family. My grandfather can make these sorts of things; if I saw him more often maybe I would be able to make more than a simple steel blade 😂
