Your vid describes exactly what happened to me. I bought the 9 GT. I rode it for weeks ...and sold it to Triumph ... to buy exactly your Speedy!!! Tracer is an awesome bike, but all those tricks and the hi-reving engine left me coldheareted. Too much tricked pony for me. Then I tested the Speedy ...and fell instantly in love. As you said, one has to decide what kind of rider/charcter you are. On longer travels the Tracer annoyed me with buffeting which began at 130Km/H. Its windshield is nothing but crap. Riding the Tracer was impressing because of its power above 5k. But it left me kinda cold. The Speedy made me smile from the first minute. This is MY bike!
The Yamaha is faster, has luggage, a proper electronics package, heated grips, quickshifter and better suspension... But the Speed Twin is a cooler bike for general usage. If you want to tour, the Tracer has it all, although I could not gel with mine and sold it. But that's my issue with my rubbish neck... Also, remove the baffles from the stock mufflers. It's a simple process, they are held into the exit end of the mufflers with a set screw, you will need a T30 bit. Remove the screw and they slide right out and make the bike sound even better.
Great little ride, I'm my opinion the Speed Twin is a great bike for all occasions. Just hit 5k miles on my 2019 Speed Twin and it's the best decision I ever made! Check out our channel too if you're interested in speed twin / T120 riders in the UK 🇬🇧🏍️🙌
You’re correct, there’s really no need to rev it high. However I sometimes forget I’m on the Speed Twin and think I’m on the Yamaha and I’m listening for the high revs that you need on that bike…

why do you rev it so high? There is so much torque between 3000 and 5000 rpm!!
