Great video. I actually surprisingly do this most of time which makes sense my scores have gone down. I just have to learn to do it every time cause as a round gets late I will get fatigued and my mechanics tend go for a stretch of 2 or 3 holes

Great review for everyone. When I was first learning the game from a friend, he taught me to pick out a spot about 18-24” in front of the ball on the target line and to place my feet parallel to that line. 30+ years later, that is something that I still do. Also, allowing my arms to hang straight down at address. I do think I’ll use your suggestion about keeping them slightly extended with the driver. Great video, Rick!

This reminds me of when I discovered this process, I had always been told to take my stance first but I could never get a good shot off. One day I had enough of not being able to hit my driver so I went to the range and just kept trying everything I could think of till I could get good consistent shots and this was what I came up with only for me I found my best shot came from having my lead foot just slightly ahead of the ball instead of being squared up to the ball. Since then 280-300yrd drives almost seem too easy, a far cry from the 100-150yrd drives I had before

Finally getting into golf after a few years wanting but couldn't find the time. Went to a range for a first time. I'm in my mid 30s. Asked a few people about grip and they were close but not near the pointers. Showed me the interlock grip. Everything about it felt wrong. I will try the 10 finger grip and use your pointers. The swing and everything is complete opposite of my natural swing, feet, grip as I only played baseball growing up through school. It will take some time

Reading these comments Rick I see I'm not the only one who feels that your videos are so helpful. I love watching the fun videos, playing with one club, long par, etc. Great content here on the channel. I JUST got a cobra F9 (2019 model for only $249 USD!) after watching some of your videos on drivers and got out yesterday to the range. I used your range time technique that you did a video on, splitting up the range time, and other tips on driving. I'm easily getting 20 if not 30 yards longer on the drive, and I have my errors narrowed down to me, and me only. If I can just get that left arm in line, and not bend the elbow, I'll be playing the best golf of my life. All the best from here in Michigan in the states.

Dear Mr Rick Shields Thank you so very much for this video it been a godsend,, down the range tonight has been the best for a number of years ..Though I do run the clubs on my fingers like you show it was the square line that was the clincher ! I've added at least 10 yards to every club tonight which is nuts ! the height was wonder to see .. though the club face looked open address my shots was amazingly pure just go to show that your eyes can deceive you at address ! ( my club face it seems well closed when I hit the ball ) At least now I have a marker now when I grip my clubs .. Thank you once again .. Ady xxxx

Rick, thanks for this. Even after playing for years this made me reconsider my stance to the ball because of swing path issues as well as balance. I’ve been playing a draw with most clubs and reconfiguring my stance based on this video helped reduce the amount of curvature in my iron shots. I’m getting used to what feels (to me) as a more seated stance (from sticking out my butt as you describe). I’m looking forward to working in this more as it didn’t seem to bother my lower back which usually gives me issues. Thanks!

Appreciate the short videos with minimal lecture! Great reminder! I've gotten away from that and needed this.

Simple Video but still needed for better than average golfers as a reminder. Great Video Rick. I have left you some nasty comments in the past because you are known for being toooo chatty. THIS WAS GREAT... You stated a Title, Demonstrated, Stayed on Topic. Man I want to give you a hug. LOL... Thumbs up...

Great video. Sometimes we need to revisit the basics. SUGGESTION: in these stay at home times; any drills we can do indoors? Or in the yard? Be safe!

Not long just restarted playing again. It’s good to know I have got one thing right. It still a lottery if the little white object goes anywhere remotely near where I want it to go but it’s a start! Rick have you done a video of using woods on the fairway?

I always played them more like an iron but I agree it would be good to see Rick do a video on the hybrids and woods.

@@clientbuilding8737 I agree. I get 1 good shot with my woods or hybrids in about 50 tries. It would be nice to see how to do it correctly..

I think it could be helpful to incorporate the practice swing into this whole set up video. Do you get all set up and then take a step back for a practice swing, then readdress the ball? Or do you do the opposite? Very Interested to hear your theory on this. Thanks. Chet

Took this out to the range and hit things much straighter and more comfortable. Subbed and liked
